Back For Round 2

Hey everyone...after the amazing success of the first live blog following the season premiere of The Office, Greg Daniels has decided to come back for another round. We're extremely excited to have him back Thursday, November 9th following the east coast airing of the episode, or approximately 9pm EST.

We look forward to hearing what new and burning questions you have now that we're a few episodes into the season, so be sure to log in and leave them in the comments.

See you Thursday!!

Stupore! Amo questo luogo!:)))))))

Ich erklare meinen Freunden uber diese Seite. Interessieren!

luogo fine, sapete..

The information I found here was rather helpful. Thank you for this.

Lavoro eccellente! ..ringraziamenti per le informazioni..realmente lo apprezzo: D

Nice site you have!

Interesting comments.. :D

Maybe it's trivial but I have found it odd that we're 6 episodes into the season and Jim has not once mentioned anything about his vacation in Australia. You'd think maybe he had some photos or would change the screensaver on his computer to be a photo from his trip. Maybe he never went after all? (score one for Ryan?

could dwight do something awful to jim's hair? dwight has such lovely hair(!!). and, well the exercise ball scene, honestly never laughed so hard in my life. except for the vending machine scene. ..even at samantha b throwing urine out the car windows (but man, that was funny)

I LOVE the show. I think it would be great if you could have a script contest open to the public and choose one for an episode. (Even do a walk-on cameo.)

FIRE RASHIDA, BRING ED TO THE SCRANTON BRANCH! he and dwight could battle! and don't bring rashida, ever.

jim should go home and romance pam, or vice versa. I really don't like that stamford sales girl, and think she should move to NY instead. Or date roy. It's JAM time!I love this show

How many episodes are Ed Helms and Rashida Jones going to be in? You can tell us, right?!?

casting question...

for the major characters, were there open auditions or were you strict? how many people tried out?

how about the the new characters (rashida, ed, etc.)

Pam and Jim.....TOGETHER SOON ???!! Woooo Hooooo

What the heck happened to Jim's phone?

WHAT ABOUT ED HELMS

I work in Harvard Square. As a former Harvard student (you smartie you) is there anything you miss from the Square? (Which since you were here has gotten very upscale, but still funky)

How many episodes are written in advance? Do you have episodes already written for season 4/

You should have a live blog after every Office show with the different cast members

"You're very exotic looking. Is your father a G.I.". Hilarious

Who could Regis play on the office. How about Michael's father?

I think you should have a live Blog after every Office show...with different cast of the show every week

Can't wait for next week's show. What is it about?

Hi M. Daniels,

I was a huge fan of the Uk Version of the Office but have since become an even bigger fan of the US Version.

After seeing a few episodes of the French Quebec carbon copy of the UK show which they have titled "La Job", I have developed an even more profound respect for the extraordinary quality of the adaptation you have created.

Tonight's episode was great, as always, I can't wait to see the producer's cut (If we actually have access to it in Canada).

Hey Greg, is there anyway you guys could get Conan on to do a guest spot. That would be great.

Is Jenna like Pam in real life?

Awesome show tonight like always. I saw in credits in a show, can't think of the name, that you produced a different show. How many shows have you actually produced and which is your favorite and why? Thanks for your time!

To any writer,

we got to see Roy's personal moment tonight with his endearing feelings toward Pam and Cinderlla. can we expect to see more from Roy along these lines...besides occasional glances at the camera?

Melora Hardin (Jan) has a smokin' singing voice. Any plans to write that into an episode?

P.S. Tonight's episode was the best all season (and I loved the previous 6)!

Hey Greg. Congrats on the show's success and thanks for being so great to us fans. I love the show!
Question: Is it true that JJ Abrams will direct an upcoming episode?[/dwight]

Hi Greg! Great episode, it had everything I really love! I'm interested in how the branches will merge, where the heck will everyone sit? And how hysterical is it going to be when Dwight has to report to Jim? I just can see it now - hugs!

Jane

When you are writing the show how involved do you get in the characters? Like when you read a script how much are you rooting for someone or something?

Wow! Tonights episode was amazing. seriously- amazing!

Mike Schurr wrote it.. is that his first episode? How do you decide who writes each episode?

Will Jim and Pam's relationship progress sometime soon?

Hi Greg,

We've heard Michael's cellphone ring on a few occasions now. How do you all decide what ringtones would fit his character?

So cliche to say this but I love the show!

Greg,

Best show on TV. We nicknamed all of our meeting "The Michael Scott meetings"

Will tonight's episode only be available immediately following the West Coast airing, or will we be able to access it at any time once it is posted?

How much of what is scripted makes it to the final episode cut, deleted scenes on the website or on the DVDs? How do you decide what deleted scenes to release each week?

With all the extra material, do you think the show could work as an hour-long?

Also - great show tonight!

Loved how many time you say "The Office" in this episode, and correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to be sending a message to the network (don't close the office)

Will Andy be staying in the show for a while? He is probably the greatest new thing in the show this season and never fails to make me laugh. Great show! Keep it up!

how is working on the office different from working on the simpsons and how is it the same?

How is working on The Office different from working on The Simpsons and how it the same?

Is Pam going to have any love interests other than Jim (I am assuming that she still has feelings for him)?

Greg, are the characters of Karen, Andy, and Josh gonna stick around for awhile, or just a few more episodes?

Is there going to be any developments in Angela and Dwight's relationship? Is anyone going to "out" them soon?

Also, how important is The Office fan community to the show? Would you agree it's one of the most faithful followings on any show on TV?

Question: When are we going to see Mose again ("he seemed nice"). Too funny. Can't wait for he and Angela to meet.

Comment: Hook Karen up with Ryan. They are both edgy and Kelly's reaction would be hilarious.

First off, thank you so much for all your hard work on The Office. It is truly a highlight of my week, and I enjoy few things more.

As for my inquiry: in "Initiation," we see Ryan and Dwight interact in a way never before seen. At the bar, Dwight makes note of the fact that "the temp agency could have sent [Ryan] anywhere," and Ryan glances at the camera. Is his look one of contentment to have finally found a friend (of sorts) at the office, or is it more of serene acceptance of his unfortunate position? It's a bit ambiguous as to whether or not Ryan and Dwight have actually forged a friendship, and I'm very curious. I wrote B.J. about it, but he didn't answer, so you're the go-to guy on this one, I suppose. =)(And I'm not knocking B.J. on that - he's awesome - I'm just saying). Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Are we going to be seeing any more of the Jan and Michael romance? It seemed like last season it was built up, and this season it has been dying down. Should Jan/Michael fans give up hope?

Besides seeing you and the cast go on stage to pick up your Emmy, the best image of that night was how excited Conan O'Brien was for his ol' roomie. Congratulations!

Do you and others associated with The Office hear/read about all the plot speculation on the internet and wonder how we figured it out or just how crazy we are?

Thanks for the "smart" tv.

Sorry- accidentally hit "post" before I finished the question- it was supposed to read: as certain storylines progress, particularly relationships between characters, will the documentary crew follow? There have been brief visits to non-office locations (Beet Farm, Jim's apartment); will there be more of these? Or will we mainly see their relationships through their interactions at the office?

I have heard some rumors that Steve Carrell and Jon Krazinski were leaving the show in lou of contract disputes. I guess what I am saying, is everything in order for the show to stick around for a long time? Thaaat's what she said.

First off- congratulations on having created such a wonderful show, and for picking such a talented cast.

My question- as certain storylines progress, particularly relationships between characters, will the documentary crew follow? There have been brief visits to non-office locations (Beet Farm, Jim's apartment) but for the purpose Will we continue to see them only from the vantage point of the office and

Hi Greg!

I know this has been asked ad nauseam and I have heard scattered rumors around and about the Electric City, but the locals are dying to know...

Will we get a Dunder Mifflin & Co. visit to our fair, steam-spewing, coal- cracking, parade-day-loving city? Are you coming to Scranton?

I know Rainn Wilson will be here in December. But is there any hope for the entire cast?

I'll buy you all a round at Farley's. I promise.

Hi Greg! Love the show!

Is there anyway you could give us some info on things that we never got to see last season?

For example, is it too early to tell us what Jim wrote on the Christmas Card to Pam? Can you tell us what Pams mom said on the other line at the end of the season?

I understand it may still be too important to reveal so I'll ask a less important one instead. Will we be seeing more of Todd Packer?

What has two fingers and wants to see more of him? :)

Hi Greg,

I was wondering approximately how much of Steve Carell's performace is adlibbed as opposed to what's scripted. I especially love his responses to Jan when he's greeting her in person or over the phone. Awesome show by the way. My Thursday isn't complete without it.

In the episodes, "The Carpet" and "Drug Testing" and I think in some others there is a lady with gray hair that sits back where Toby and Kelly work near the break room. Is there a story that you guys have for her. Like why she isn't part of the documentary like the rest of the employees? Thanks! I love the show!

Hi Greg,

Best show ever!!! I love all the music I've been hearing in season 3. Is there any possibility of an Office CD being made?

NBC rocks!

I love what you've done with the Pam character this season, giving her alone-time to grow and and really be fleshed out!

This is less a question than a request; I think it'd be pretty cool to have an episode where we see Pam's new appartment. Kind of like we saw Jim's in Email Surv.

The Office is the best show on television!

Hi, I am a huge fan of the show. I love how it is so smart and different.

My question is, how much of the show is unscripted, and could you tell us some of those moments that made it on to the show?

Greg,
First off, thanks for producing such a great show. Its so subtlely brilliant and funny at the same time. My question is this:

How do you choose which writer gets to write an episode(are certain writers better at exposition or srtaight out dialogue)?

Hi Greg! How are you? :)
Where do you think the Ryan and Kelly relationship will go? It's so hilariously dysfunctional, I hope it doesn't end anytime soon.

I absolutely, positively love the show and everything about it. I just wanted to thank you for giving me something to live for- I look forward to "The Office" every thursday. So, did Jim go to Australia? I thought I read somewhere he didn't and wanted to know why not?

Hey Greg,
Are we going to see the warehouse some more soon?
J

Hey!
I'm a huge fan of the American Office, as well as the British Office and I've noticed although the plotline varies somewhat, it still is following the plot of the british show. Will that continue or Did Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant want to change the overlying plotline of the American version?

Hey Greg. "The Office" is the best show on television, one of the best ever. Do you think you'll make another batch of webisodes over the summer?

Hi Greg,

S3 has been great so far and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Can you give us any information on the Dwight/Angela relationship? After watching the Diwali episode last week it seemed like they were cooling off? Will they be "coming out of the closet" or are they over?

Hey Greg-I'm a huge flan of yours.
I was wondering if the writers and producers read the comments left on forums like TWoP and NorthernAttack. If yes, how does that factor into how the show is run or scripts are created?

Do you think that people will stop liking micheal all together and if so are you worried about it?

Hi Mr. Daniels,

Thanks for taking our questions! And congrats again on the wonderful adaptation of The Office in the U.S. and the recent Emmy win.

My question: In the world of “The Office” and Dunder-Mifflin, how long will it make sense for a documentary crew to follow their employees before someone in corporate says, “Okay, you’ve got enough, let our people concentrate on their work now.”? Or is it a Twilight Zone-type thing where it’s tied to the real world ratings on NBC? I mean, let’s say the show goes on for ten years, will it still be a viable premise to say a documentary crew is still following everyone around? Don’t get me wrong, I love the show and will watch every episode! Just curious what you thought.

Hi! I was just wondering if you were going to be writing and/or directing any upcoming episodes. Thanks!

Hi!

Ok, so my question is, since we know the two offices are merging, are Karen and Andy going to remain on the show, or no? I think it would be so hilarious having Dwight and Andy working at the same office, and I think Jim having internal struggles about who he feels for more (Karen or Pam) would be interesting too.

Hope you can answer! Thanks! :)

Question comparing season 2 to season 3: it seems there has been a shift in tone between season 2 and season 3. Season 3 seems to have more over the top and outlandish moments (Dwight's beat farm, Michael kissing Oscar, Michael freaking out over a dead bird and Pam signing a song).

My question is, was this intentional or something that just happened? Could it relate to Jim leaving Scranton and the writers wanting to show that the Scranton universe is now a little "off"?

Excited for the rest of the season.

Hi Greg! Thanks for a great show!

I was wondering, as an executive producer, how much input do you have on the storylines and the show itself?

As the actors' continue to grow in popularity and they get more and more movie roles, will this change the show in any way?

And any more online goodies to look forward to? We "Office" fans seem to be getting spoiled, I love it!

I just want to start by saying thank you for the amazing show that you put on each week, I find the office filling my void of smart comedy (RIP Arrested Development) just as I find Lost filling my drama void.

I was curious just behind your motivation for each episode... Can you give any insight on the whole process from start to end of an episode and what your emotions are during that process? Thanks so much!

Hi, great show and love the writing and the cast.

But two little concerns.

To some of us viewers it appears at times that there is an over abundance of relationships on the show. Realistically most of these characters would be married by now with only a few single. Does that ever come up as a concern among the writers and producers since I know you all want to keep it realistic to some degree.

Also, I'm wondering, if a branch does close down, either one, is there any concern on your part that you'll have less opportunities for plot ideas?

My best to you all.

Is Steve Carell and the cast on board for a fourth season of the Office? Or is this the last season?

Any info. on future Jim and Pam happenings?

Any info on future Jim and Pam happenings?

Hi, I'm currently working on putting together an Office wiki page, but am completely unable to find some information anywhere on the internet or in the show's credits. So if at all possible...

Who plays Stanley's wife Terri, the security guard Hank, and the warehouse workers Philip and Lester?

This information would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks, Greg.
From Greg.

First of all, i just wanted to thank you for bringing the Office to American audiences! It is my favorite show on television and it is completely brilliant. I was wondering what the process is for production of the Office. Are the writers writing a new script as a different episode is being filmed? How long is the process? Thanks so much!

First off, my husband and I are huge fans! Thanks for giving us a reason to love Thursdays again. My question is has to do with the Stamford staff members. Are they coming to Scraton and if so, is Karen being set up as a new "Pam"?

First I want to say that The Office is my favourite show -EVER!!! I love it more than anything else.
This was asked in a way by another person, but I was also wondering: how do we send it ideas for episodes, or even full scripts? I know Family Guy did a viewer mail episode so I thought maybe you would accept good ideas from the fans and make an episode based on that. By the way,
I
am the biggest fan.

Hi Greg:

Will there be any flashback type episodes showing Pam breaking up with Roy or Jim finding out the wedding got called off?

Also, you guys so need to do a potluck episode - every office has them and they generally suck!! Lot's of humor to be found there!

Do you plan on ever showing the documentary crew as part of any episode?

Greg -
I have always wondered about the documentary footage that we the viewers see each week. Are we essentially watching a the same show that the "audience" will see when the "documentary" airs?

Hey Greg!
1) Let me thank you for creating the best show on TV today.
2) What can you tell us about Jim & Pam? As in general specifics? [haha]
Will they ever be as good as friends as they used to be?

I just wanted to say thanks for making my favorite show! I have never been so emotionally invested in a television show, or laughed so hard at one, either. I really appreciate all the hard work of the cast and crew- thank you all so much! :)

first of all, thanks for taking the time to answer some questions!
i was just wondering how much of the actual episodes are written by the person who it is credited to. i know there's a team of writers and everyone puts in their two cents worth.

Hi Greg!
I was wondering why you decided to make the British version only two seasons while the US version is clearly going to be on for a long time?

I also want to say that my dad is EXACTLY like Michael Scott. He owns a small business and I sometimes think that one of his employees is an undercover writer for the show. He had a booze cruise last february and just this summer he set up a self-defense class for all of his employees. I laugh everytime I go into his office.

Thanks for making the greatest show to ever come to earth!

- Adam

In the UK version we didn't know the names or stories of every character in the office both before and after the merger. Are we going to meet every character from the Stamford branch or only a select few?

Is it hard shooting in two different offices (Scranton and Stamford) with two stories?

I've heard whispers that some of the BBC's Office cast members will be making an appearance on the show.
Is there any truth to this and if so, what more can you tell us?

Thanks!

Hi Greg,

I don't have a question...I just wanted to thank you for creating one of the best shows on television. I was a huge fan of the British Office, and now I am an even bigger fan of the US adaptation (if that's possible). Thursday nights are always the highlight of my week, because watching The Office never fails to make me happy. The cast, crew, and writers are all brilliant, and I hope to see The Office on TV for a long time to come. Thanks again, and keep up the phenomenal work!

Sincerely,
Amanda

Hi! I love the show!

How do you decide to use the camera/documentary crew? During the double date with Kelly, Ryan, Pam, and cartoonist guy, the camera was clearly near them, at the table. Wouldn't that be somewhat of an invasion of their privacy?

But then during the lunch between Dwight and Jan, the camera was hiding behind objects.

What makes each situation different for the cameras?

Thanks!

Hi Greg, love the show, may it live on for many years. How long will it be before Jan and Michael are married with children?

Are you planning on bringing Angela's crush on Roy into the picture? Or was that just a joke for the webisodes?

When you set out to begin writing for a new season of The Office, how concrete are the story arcs? Do you define all of the major plot developments up front, before even selecting episode topics? How much do the major plots evolve while the season is being written?

Also: How do you approach the balance between showing us depth in every character, and not overloading the episodes with too many storylines? Are there any cases in which you think the balance is off?

Thanks!

I thought of Michael Scott at work the other day.

My bosses gave each employee a regular size Hershey bar, specially wrapped in motivational wrappers they made. On the front of the wrapper, there were cartoons of men and women working together and captions that said "TEAMWORK" and "SUCCESS." On the back, each boss had personally signed it.

How much money and time they spend on this?

Hmm... no wonder we're being downsized.

Thanks for the laughter, Greg!

Have you ever ridden a bicycle drunk?

With the merger just a week away, have you found any difficulty with merging the scranton and stamford casts, from the perspective of making the characters interact realistically.

Thanks!

What made you decide to change Pam's hair from its usual hair clip?

I sent a script to BJ Novak this past summer, but never heard from him. Who can I send this script to? I have a really good idea for the show. Some of the dialogue would have to be changed, but the general theme of the episode would still work. Please let me know. I would be happy to email it to you. Thanks

Do you take any ideas for the show - like a place to post ideas or e-mail them.

I have some great ones - I am from PA and worked in offices all my career.

I love the show - it's so real!!!
