Is Talk To Me not playing in your city? Let us know.

The movie was in Kansas City for about a week and then left. Please bring it back!
I see that I am not alone in the desperate attempt to see this movie. I understand the limited release concept, however you also need to keep up the advertising as well. The movie finally came to my town of Goldsboro, NC, however I never knew it was here. When I do realize it is here the next day it is gone. It was here for exactly one week. So I have yet to see the film. I know that theaters take the movie off the list if there is little box office. But how can there be a box office if no one knows the film is in the theater. So now the bootleggers are going to make the money you could have made. I would have loved to see this on the big screen but I guess I have to wait for the DVD. If I were Focus I would seriously rethink the distribution department. Someone is not doing their job.
This movie is not playing in Montgomery, AL, when is the DVD coming out?
Any chance it will come to Akron Ohio? I would LOVE to see this movie!
I live in Sacramento, CA and will have to drive 1 1/2 hours to see this film. I'm not happy about that but will do it. Ridiculous that it isn't being shown in Sacramento---the capital of California.
Please! Please!
This movie sound so good!
Why are you not releasing it
allover the Country..
Must be reverse marketing!
Add: Riverside, CA - Metropolitan Theatres, University Village (near UCR)
I live in Des Moines, Iowa and Talk to Me is not playing here. We struggle to get blakc movies here but we always seem to get the ones filled with negative stereotypes. Please bring this movie to Des Moines!!!
I live in Des Moines, Iowa. we really struggle to get black movies but we do seem to get the ones that are filled with stereo types about our people. We want 'Talk to Me" in Des Moines, Iowa!!!
I live in Jamaica, NY and I am very upset that this movie only opened in Kew Gardens. There's not even and advertisement in the papers movie section. "THAT WON'T STOP THIS BLACK SISTER FROM SEEING IT".
the movie was great.
I had to travel 30 minutes to see it but it was worth it.
In was inspiring - i have a botha who is the money maker and another brotha who is the opposite- maybe kids in the streets could get the message we all have something to offer in our own way.- loved it- his girlfriend gets better and better and he plays comedy well-a natural-he is on the top of his craft-
Unfortunately, this movie has not been released in Birmingham, Alabama; it has been in Huntsville. The movie was widely advertised, both in theater previews and on television, so I'm at a loss for such a limited release in such random cities (Birmingham is far more populous and centrally-located than Huntsville). It seems to be a fault of distribution, not theater owners, since the film is not controversial and well-reviewed.
None of the local theaters is playing Talk to Me. I called a multiplex theater in Newburgh, New York and the person who answered the phone said he never heard of it. Can't find a theater in all of Orange or Rockland County, New York
What's up with this? This Movie is not playing everywhere in the county? Do I have to wait for it to come out on DVD or buy it from a bootlegger to see it. The ony theater its playing in my state is a all white neighborhood. What's wrong with this picture that it's not showing in the black neighborhoods? Some body tell me what's going on?
The movie is not showing anywhere in this God-forsaken state of Alabama.
Ralph Greene was my neighbor. I swam in his pool in the backyard. Ate at his dinner table. Played tag with ralph and petra. And I can't even see the movie they made of my neighbor.
That's what I get for moving from Maryland to no-whereville Alabama...it sucks here.
I am very disappointed that this movie is not showing know where in Indiana. I heard that they do our movies like this so that they can not make a good ratings at the box office and be consider a flop. They push them straight to DVD. They are making the bootleggers richer.....
The movie is not playing anywhere in Alabama. I live in Huntsville and my parents in Birmingham and we all want to see the movie. If it is not going to be released here please let me know when is will be on DVD.
I can't find it in Indianapolis, Indiana, I know so many people who want to see it.
Only playing in 2 theaters!
Only playing in 2 theaters!
The film is not listed to come to Indianapolis, IN. One of the few films I would line up to see. It's not about race. I'm not African American.
Waiting with anticipation for this movie in Mobile Alabama
I know this has been said to the nth degree, but it is really a shame that this movie is not enjoying wider release. If for no other reason than economics. I live in Jamaica, Queens, the largest African-American population in Queens and I had to drive to Massapequa in Long Island to see this film. Neighborhoods like Bed Stuy in Brooklyn and Harlem (huge centers of African-American population) are being deprived of this movie. Even if you ignore the injustice of these people being deprived of an excellent, relevant and poignant film; dollars and cents dictate that you are missing your core audience with your poor distribution. There must be a way to take action!
Why is this movie not showing in more theathers is just a sin. I live in new jersey, and you can only find it in theaters in 3 movie theaters, this is just more of the same with a quality movie, never release to the mass public. But no problem releasing "I know who killed me" with a person who is in the public eye for all the wrong reasons. get this into the theathers NOW, this is just stupid.
seeing this movie was one of the highlights of my summer, which I have not been able to do because it's not released in my city. I live in Staten Island NY. I heard a radio personality this morning saying the movie was really good so I was gonna see it today to find out it's not showing here. I am very dissappointed
I am from northest Fort Worth, Texas and would like for this movie to be released in my area. At Grapevine Mills Mall there is a 30 movie cinema and we can't get this movie???!
I ain't got nuttin to say.. this is a shame and a disgrace... Don deserves better than this.
It's now Aug. 5th and the movie still isn't playing in Greensboro, NC.
I hope the decision to release the film this way pays off (for someone) because something good should come out of the frustration this release has caused.
My husband and I drove about 45 minutes from our home to see the movie. It was well worth the drive. However, I too wonder why its not showing in more threatres??
I live in Oceanside CA and it is not playing in any of our theaters at all. I believe the only place is San Deigo. Please do something about it. It is not fair to us.
Thank you!
By the way, the theaters that are listed as showing the film in Durham NC are not in Durham at all but are in the "whiter" areas of Cary and Chapel Hill...
I am in Durham NC and I have done some research as to why "Talk to Me" is not playing that I have put on my blog and other places. The theaters are saying that the movie is not playing because Focus Films, simply did not give them any copies of the film.
So, I am wondering, why they would even pose the question whether the film is showing in your area when they already know it isn't???
My blog:
http://www.nowarningshotsfired.com
Not playing in the south city or south suburbs of chicago.
I would love to see Talk to Me but is is only playing far away in white neighborhoods and one theater on 87th street in the less than desireable area. If this movie is not released to accessible theaters it will be gone after the first couple of weekends!!
Why is this movie only playing in 2 theaters in Philadelphia? And they are theaters that nobody really goes to. This is so wrong. So many of my friends and famliy members are really looking forward to seeing this movie. This is so wrong!
It is strange to me how such a great movie and such an important part of our black history, is not showing in any theater near me. Minice to Society, Boys in the Hood, Baby Boy. As much as I like to see black actors work, I enjoy more seeing them portray the majority of us in a true light. How is it that a movie that is so significant and important to the ones of us who pay our taxes and live descent lives, can only being showing in so few places? Out of hundreds of thousands of theaters in USA, how is it that this movie is only playing in 34 cities and only 56 theaters around our great country? When Soul Plane opened, just about in every major city in every theater across this country, isn't something wrong with this? You tell me, because if it looks like a duck and it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck----- It's a duck!!! Listen to the voice of the people, we are not happy!1
Please get the movie to Birmingham, Alabama. I really, really wanna see it.
I have been anticipating the release of this film for the past two weeks. Only to my dissappointment, in order to view this movie, I have to travel 1 1/2 to 2 hours away. I don't understand why the film was not released in any of the local theaters in the Greensboro, NC area. It is a disgrace when upscale movies about our history are with held from movie goers who would definately support support the film. When you think that we have come a long way, we realize that we have so much further to go. Please come to our area soon!!!
It is a shame that this movie in only playing at 2 theatres in downtown Chicago and a couple of theatres in the North and Northwest suburbs. Why does this seem to happen everytime a good positive african american movie is made but when a movie involving drug dealing, gangs, etc. comes out the movie is playing everywhere. This just tells me that we are in the 21 st century, but the powers that be have not changed.
My man and I went to see "Talk To Me" last night and it was excellent. We could not believe it was only showing at two theatres in the Metro Detroit Area. Why? Real Reason Please!
What about Birmingham!!!!! This is what pisses me off...they open BS stupid movies like Soul Plane and Lil Man nationwide but quality movies such as this one is gradually rolled out!!!!! THis is why our children are uneducated and lack basic comprehension of what's important and what's BS.
I'm frustrated to say the least!!!
Upset? Yes I'm very upset about "Talk To Me " being showed in the suburbs of Detroit, we may not have many theaters in the city of Detroit but this Theater held under sixty people in "close quarters".
I'm disappointed in this preview showing that should have been opened to more people.
I enjoyed the movie it showed the different side of the Black Man that needed to be seen.
Why is'nt this incredible movie being shown in more theatres? I live in Los Angeles and have told friends to go see it and it is virtually not here. What is the matter with you people--don't you know you have a winner!
I mam very upset that talk to me is not showing in birmingham alabama out of all cities is seems that it would play in one that has went through some of the same problems being discussed in the film!!
It is unfortunate that this film is not released in the south-central Pennsylvania area at any theater. We had a similar instance with the release of the film, "The Best Man" but later, it was picked up and run in 1st run theaters. One can only hope this film can be viewed without having to travel to Philadelphia or Baltimore - not likely, but one can always hope. Otherwise, I have to pray for a quick DVD release so I get to see Don Cheadle (one of the most under-rated, and one of the best actors out there).
I'm disappointed that more local theatre are not showing your film. I'm outside the pittsburgh area and a distance from youngstown. I'll have to wait on video, I guess. as much as I don't want to someone is alway selling bootlegg copies
Unfortunately, it isnt being played in Madison, WI . Please consider showing it here.
I am waiting for the movie in Mobile, AL.
My husband and I have been waiting for this film in Fayetteville, NC where there are 3 main theaters and an independent theater as well. This movie is still not showing and I think it would be a sold out movie for weeks here! Please be sure to bring it our way!
I have been waiting to see this movie since first seeing the trailler, but to my surprise it is only playing in two theatres (not one of them even close to where I live). I thought the movie was due to be released everywhere on July 27th.
I'm not sure how this works, but can someone explain how this much talked about movie is not playing in every theatre?
I live in Dorchester - Boston, MA. This movie is only playing in one theatre that I'm aware of, which is in Downtown Boston. I live approx 20-25 minutes away. I've seen this superb movie and would like others to see it as well. Please let me know when it's coming my way!!!
I am looking forward to seeing this movie, and with that said, you can add my voice to the choir of disconcernment voiced in the previous listings. This is INDEED, an attempt by "mainstream," ie, white production houses to negate the public's ability to view a quaility piece of filmaking by a Black directory with a predominately Black cast. And if OPRAH just happens to be reading this: YOU and your corporation personally FAILED my family and I when my Mother became THE FIRST African American WOMAN to start a Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina (after attaining her Masters in Theology from ITC in Atlanta, and her Doctorate of Ministry from the Unv. of Dayton), . Please do not fail us again by remaining silent on THIS issue as well.
This is a film that needs to be seen by the People. My station did a screening for it last night in one of the smallest, older theatres in the city. We had a decent turnout and mostly everyone had positive things to say about the movie. I'm glad to see it will be showing in Richmond, VA.
The 804 needs it!
I am running for Mayor here in Flint, and I just happened to notice that the movie is not playing in my town and I'm mad as a motha'fugga. I'm ready to stage a public protest. vote, Hutchinson.
Here I am in Missouri with a minium of 15 movie theaters and Talk To Me is only showing in 3 of them!!! And yes of course all 3 theaters are widely spread. Why is it that the white man is still so afraid of us coming out on top!
I'm just as baffled as most, here in Nashville TN it did not even come out on the release date of 7/27/07. So I called the theatre to ask when and where it is showing? As of today it is only showing at ONE site Green Hills 16 although we have over 10 sites around the immediate area. What is this about? However you can find Harry Potter and Ratatouille everywhere. Get Real. Why can't we get more showings of a realistic movie for a change? I hope someone wakes up and smells the popcorn
It is really, really sad when great movies like this don't get fair play. I live in San Antonio, TX and it is yet to be here. Glad to know it is coming, but with stupid movies like Whose Your Caddy coming out across the country, it is really sad! Can't wait to see this. My mom's from DC and she is too excited that this is coming out, too.
amc 24 is listed for Charlotte nc However when you go to amc's site they show no listings for this movie. I've gone so far as to put the dates way in the future from July, August to finally September and it still doesn't give you a time for this movie on the amc 24 site. Are the theatres playing games to discourage us from wanting to see this movie?? CHECK YOU TICKETS IF AND WHEN YOU GET THE CHANCE TO GO!!
I'm HOT!! I'd hoped to see this movie for my birthday 7/23. But naturally assumed that if I couldn't see it then I'd surely get the oppurtunity when the movie opens nationwide. Surprise I still can't find this movie listed anywhere. I'm a huge Don Cheadle fan as well as director Kasi Lemmons. This is 2007 why is our movie on limited release anyway!! Very displeased and disturbed in Charlotte, NC
It's rather sad that a great and inspiring film such as this one can only be found in a few select cities throughout the country while garbage like 'Who's Your Caddy' is playing nation-wide.
I was (and still am) pissed off that Talk To Me wasnt showing in Lakewood, CA (in the Lakewood Mall Shopping Center) But they were still showing old movies like Fantastic Four and 1408... and now that Who's Your Caddy has come out it is also showing there, which in my opinion is a silly ass "black" movie. I feel like they were making a mockery of this movie (Talk To Me) by having a stand up poster of this movie and still not showing it, and 9 times out of 10 they'll be showing that bullshit ass el cantante there pretty soon which didnt say showing in select theatres like Talk To Me is
I want to start by saying that I love the movie. I live in a suburb of Atlanta and had to drive miles to find a theater that had the movie (which is surprise for Metro Atlanta). I also told family members in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and they were unable to go because it was not showing in their area. What do we need to do to get this movie in more theaters?
I was very disappointed when I saw Talk to Me wasn't showing in Tulsa, Ok (but not suprised). This just shows that although we have made progress we still have obstacles to over come. I hope Talk to Me makes it to theathers in Tulsa soon. I look forward to seeing this movie as the previews alone drew me to the film. Again, I am very disappointed.
TV ads said it would be in theaters on July 27th in Milwaukee, however I did not see it at any theater in Milwaukee on or after that date. I feel cheated. I wanted to see this movie. How can I see it now?
Talk to me was down to earth and made me remember, the past times. Since I grew up during the times and made you think especially if you was black would you try to help a white person during the riot. But I would, because even though I know the history of ROOTS. That life do not come in colors, but right in wrong do not have any colors. So I really enjoy this movie and motivated me to keep on believeing as Martin Luther King said change will come.
What are you thinking? Limited release? Did you only show it to Roger Ebert and Roeper in Chicago? It's nowhere to be seen in Chicago and vicinity.
Please bring this film to Indianapolis!
I live in Charleston, South Carolina and have called numerous Theartres about this movie. I lived in Washington D.C. during the Petey Green era. I received the full affect of his radio ministry. He told it like it was and many of us were glued to our radios to listen.
The movie has still not reached our area after the second week. Why?
R.G.
It is not in Austin, Texas! Austin, Texas!
This is exactly why bootleggers stay in business....sad but true. I live in Charlotte, NC and it is not playing at not one theatre here...damn shame.
"Talk to me" has not been released in Winston-Salem, NC--and why is it that Black movies are usually played in only one theater of a multi-complex? Movies like Damn Harry Potter and Hairspray are played all day in more than two theaters.
Then when you purchase tickets for "Talk to me" more than likely when you pay admission, they will give you a Harry Potter (or some other pointless movie) ticket to enter with, so the number of sales will be credit to that move, not "Talk to me".
Ads are all over the place in So Cal but where is it showing? No where that I can find especially not here in San Diego. What do we have to do wait for it to come out on video?
In Memphis, TN--Talk to Me is only being shown at 2 theatres. These 2 theatres are not the best in the city--Malco Majestic and Malco Ridgeway Four Yes, these are theatres frequented by African-Americans but are not used necessarily by many who prefer to go to the nicer theatres such as Malco Paradiso. These two theatres are known for having more children without adult supervision and/or people talking and cell phones sounding during the films. It is hard to believe that limited release meant release to less desired theatres. I should not have to go to somewhere I don't feel safe just to see this movie.
I live in Lincoln, Nebraska and the movie is not playing in Lincoln or Omaha. I am quite disappointed.
Please put the list out of where to see this movie. I'm in New Iberia, LA. I want to see this movie. Pleeeeeease!
I have been waiting to see this movie since the previews began. I often do not have much time to attend the movies, but it was my priority to support this film. I was so disappointed to find out that the movie is not playing in my area. Please be bold and release the movie nationally. This is a movie that everyone deserves to see!
Worthy of comment is that the distributor seems to favor suburban and/or "art house" theatres for this film. From what I can tell, Los Angeles seems to be the only market where the film is playing in a predominantly black area.
The feeling that I'm getting from some posters is that even if the film is playing in their market, they resent the fact that it is not playing in their immediate area.
My question to them is: "Do you think there are enough black people that are willing to support the film in predominantly black areas to justify the film showing there?" That is with the same level of advertising that the film is already getting.
In Los Angeles, rarely do you see quality black independent films playing in the black community unless it's part of a film festival. TALK TO ME is an expection as well as EVE'S BAYOU, the director's highly praised first film. The recent commercial release of KILLER OF SHEEP did not as did such excellent films as DIRTY PRETTY THINGS and BOESMAN AND LENA.
Any thoughts?
When will you show this movie in The Commonwealth of Kentucky, hopefully in the city of louisville black people stay there. Well i'm a big fan of Don Cheadle. He is a very positive man, however, most theatres are placed in the other areas were some of my people cannot reach. One day some NBA players from kentucky might put a theatre DOWNTOWN!

I'm so tired of people complaining about a film opening in a small number of theatres. I heard the same thing when ANTWONE FISHER opened in just 15 screens. There's no crime in that. It's just a strategy. 35 years ago ALL films were released that way. If I were the distributor of TALK TO ME, I would release the film exactly the same way. By releasing a film slowly, audiences have more time to discover the film.
Looking at it another way, nobody moaned when BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM opened in just 6 screens or CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON opened in 16 screens. Both films went on to be very successful with audiences.
As far as films with black actors go, DREAMGIRLS opened in just three theatres and MONSTER'S BALL in seven. Both also did very well at the box office and won numerous awards.
Meanwhile, a worthwhile film like GET ON THE BUS opens in 1,200 theatres and dies at the box office in the first week. Maybe if THAT film had opened in fewer screens, it would have stayed in theatres longer and made more money.
If TALK TO ME is not playing in your town, pass around a petition and demand that it be shown. All theatre owners care about is box office. If they can see that there is money to be made, they'll book it.
I would love to see the movie in Charlotte,NC.
I live In northwest Indiana just outside of chicago and Talk To Me is not playing here and I'm very upset that when a movie is finally made that portrays a black man as intelligent and productive it's in limited release. But then you have a movie like Who's your Caddy, where it potrays black men and women as ignorant it's widely released. Some things will never change.
How many emails or comments must we post before the message is heard? I live in Dayton Ohio and I am livid. The movie is not playing here and I contacted the theatre and I was told "the movie may not ever play here". Please go on Oprah! or Regis and Kelley there are so many good actors in this movie and the public should have the right to choose not sensorship
We live in Wichita,Ks and would like to know when the movie will be showing in our city?
I live in Jackson, Mississippi, and, of course, Talk to Me was not released here. My wife and I are disappointed about that, but we understand the struggle of independent or black films. I am hoping that I do not have to wait until the film is on DVD to view it though we do plan to add the film to our collection because we have seen enough of the trailers to know that the film will be a keeper. We appreciate well-done and honest films that show the complexity of trying to be human in an inhuman world. We just hope that more of these films about African American complexity will find their way to Mississippi.
Raleigh NC would love to see this movie, but it is not showing anywhere!!!!
I saw the preview and I thought it was an excellent movie. I have just been sharing the highlights with all of my friends who has been anticipating viewing it and they are totally disappointed that is is not showing in the theaters in the Raleigh area and the release date has past.
Is there some type of conspiracy agianst Don Cheadle and the producers of the film?! Please give us more of an explanation as to why this movie is not playing any where besides 'We understand your disappointment'!
And to the person from Lansing, MI I am from Detroit and the movie is not playing there either..only in 2 theaters way out in BFE! Which brings me to my next point. Why is the movie playing in non- Urban areas but is playing out in the Suburbs?!
What is the problem that this movie is not being shown? Me and my family and friends have been anticipating on seeing this movie for so long and it seems no movie from the north to the south of New Jersey has it playing in their theaters. Very upsetting! Shame! Shame! Shame!
I live just an hour south of Atlanta in Macon, GA. Our city is 70% African American and "Talk to Me" is still not showing in our city. What's really going on folks?!!
I am very disappointed that
Talk to me is only in two theaters in Baltimore City.
I enjoyed this movie. I hope that the slow poke way in which they are releasing the film does not
detract from people going to see the greatest movie so far.
I am very upset that Talk To Me is not playing in any of the theaters near my hometown. Orland Park, IL Chicago Hights, IL Country Club Hills, IL .
I was so looking forward to seeing this movie.
I love this movie! I was surprised to see the film showing in Memphis--a very racist city in case you didn't know. When I walked out of the theater I felt really good and proud. VERY GOOD JOB!!
I went to see the movie this weekend and I thought it was great. I loved it.
I don't understand though, why it is only playing in two or three theatres in the whole Detroit area? I had to drive 45mins out in the boomdocks to see it. It is not in any metro area malls.
I went to see Talk to me this past weekend and it was GREAT! Funny though, I live in a suburb in the southern section of Dallas and found that the movie is only showing at two movie houses - one in North Dallas and the other in East Dallas. The southern population did not have the opportunity of having the movie shown in our area.
I realize that there is a disclaimer that the movie would only be shown in select areas. But why are the areas mostly populated by people of color is rarely selected for a movie mostly populated by people of color?
I would like to see Talk to me playing in a city near me. I would like to see it playing in the Durham-Raleigh area. I have wanted to see it ever since I heard it advertised on the radio. It sounds like it might be an interesting movie.
I saw a trailer for this movie about a month ago, so I am still hoping it comes to good old red state Tucson, AZ, and I hope the multiplex here isn't scared that the movie is too "black" or too "issue" to fill the seats. If the release is put off too much, too long, the momemtum of interest in this movie may die.
I am waiting here in Tucson.
I live in the surburbs of Atlanta and rarely travel in town, especially for a movie; however, I made the trip to Atlantic Station in Atlanta to see Talk to Me during the first week of release. It was awesome! I encouraged my friends who are also in suburbia to see the movie, but most didn't want to travel to Atlanta. They wanted to wait until it was slated to be released in more theatres in late July. Needless to say, we are disappointed that the movie is only showing in four theatres in the Atlanta area! None are close to us. It's not even playing at the Magic Johnson Theatre on the Southside! What's up with that? Please open in more theatres. EVERYONE needs to have easier access to this wonderful movie.
I just saw "Talk To Me". What a great film, a tour de force performance by a guy becoming one of the great actors of our time, Don Cheadle.
Too bad I had to see it on a jumpy, dark bootleg copy because you guys have seemingly marketed the film to the suburban audience.
I live in Detroit. I don't have car insurance because we're redlined, courtesy of the State of Michigan, so, subsequently, for financial reasons, I try to stay within the city limits. I can't afford a DWB (driving while black) ticket and a $700 no proof of insurance ticket, just to see a movie.
You guys should be ashamed of yourself for not showing this movie where your audience can see it on the big screen.
But, the lady at the store who sold me the bootleg was grateful for the $5 bucks. Maybe, if this excellent film gets to a screen in my "hood," I might just go and give you guys a play, too.
And, then again, maybe NOT.
We have been wanting to see this movie forever. Now they are not showing this movie in the whole state of Alabama. Please do something about this.
You have got to be kidding. Does a black film have to have gratuitous sex and violence for it to be in wide release? I have been waiting for this movie only to see that no one in Roanoke Virginia has any idea of where it is playing. Give me a break!!!!!
I am very disappointed to learn that the movie will not be showing in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. After seeing the trailers, I couldn't wait to see the movie. I hope it will come to my area soon.
I agree with D. Johnson about this movie being in select theaters only. I live in Chicago, IL and it is playing in only two theaters. I attempted to see Talk to Me on July 13, however, there wasn't an available seat in the house, and that theater was an hour and 30 minutes from my home. What is Focus Features waiting on? Next week the Bourne Ultimatum releases; Talk to Me will be almost four weeks old. I suppose we (the movie-going public) should just wait for DVD release or, heaven forbid, buy a bootleg (copy).
I am truly disappointed that the movie has not been shown in the Charleston SC area. Where is it being shown? It really is unfair for people who want to support the movie industry to have to wait weeks, while a select few get to see the movie on and soon after opening day. Instead of this situation getting better, it's worse. Is this a real movie or just some type of sociological testing for the public?

i live in buffalo ny and to say the least i was very upset to find out that it is not playing any where in buffalo cheektowaga or any suburbs of buffalo, I'd hate to think that this is race related.
I am very angry that my city Charlotte,N.C has not brought this movie here.Don't know why
my wife and i live in bowling green, ky. we would like to see this film!
It's not playing in Dayton, Ohio, but we sure are seeing alot of the trailers for the movie on television.
Daytonians want to see it too!
What is up people? You've got the key actors and actresses. Why is this movie not playing in NJ(Somerset,New Brunswick, Edison) areas? Check Fandango and Movie watcher and the movie is not listed. Get Tyra Banks and Oprah in on this. Im sure they can use clout to get this movie mainstream. Afterall, it was a featured item on Tyra's show...

They are not showing the film in Raleigh, NC. When can you get it here?
I would have thought that this wonderful movie would be shown at more theaters in the metro Detroit area. The only 2 theaters showing this movie are in predominately white communities. And one of the theaters has very limited seating...half the number of seats found in a AMC theater. With this said, I was pleased to see the movie was sold out. Please expand the showing of this remarkable movie.
Please add Cincinnati, OH to your list. I really can't see myself driving 4 hours to Cleveland to see this movie. I really wasn't interested in seeing "Whose your Caddy". I wanted to see this film.
Thanks!!
I too am from Columbia, SC and am extremely disappointed that the movie has been released here. There are those of us who are willing to support good work! The response from this website should indicate that this movie is ready for a larger release.
I am really disappointed this movie is not in Columbia, SC. We really need to be able to enjoy a good black film instead of movies like I now pronounce you chuck and larry. Please come here soon!!
I could not wait for this movie to be released. Imagine my frustration when on July 27th I tried to find it at my local theater. I new that it would not play in Hemet, Ca, but I thought that it would at least be in nearby Riverside. Why does your industry do this to our people. Here we are ready to support and then we can't fine the "needle in the haystack" PUT THE MOVIE EVERYWHERE"!!! Inform us: What do we have to do in order to have a voice as to what gets played where.
I have been avidly anticipating the release of this blockbuster film, but it is not showing at any theater in Birmingham, AL. This film should be seen by everyone, especially by people in the Birmingham area.
...I'm a black filmmaker who has had a film or two play in mainstream theaters, is this just a slow rollout or are the theater buyers giving you trouble, if it's the buyers you might think about contacting the justice dept. to investigate...
Like Joe, my husband and I are pleading with you to please bring the movie to Indianapolis. We have been eagerly awaiting the release for months. They show the preview on TV everyday and this is just a tease since it is not playing here.
My, my, my. This movie has recieved so much positive publicity. I couldn't wait to be one of the first to see it. I have been searching and searching and find that it isn't playing in my area or in the major cities around my area. Detriot, Fint, Saginaw, Michigan. COME ON. I was ready to start complaining to the management at the theaters. Now I see this site and find out you're not releasing it. WHAT A SHAME!
I [we] need this movie to play in Shreveport, LA.
Yes, I totally agree with this
person's comment:
I am from Indianapolis, IN and have been looking forward to see this movie and it was very disappointing to realized that this movie was not going to be seen here. Please have "Talk to me" come to Indy....add this to your list.
Furthermore:
When Rev. Martin Luther
King, Jr. was assassinated,
Robert F. Kennedy was in Indianapolis that terrible
night and spoke to an angry
crowd in shock and in
mourning. As a result of
RFK's words, no major
rioting broke out in Indy.
That's another reason the
movie should be shown
in Indianpolis. It would be
a nice tribute to two great
Americans of the 1960s
whose lives were tragically
cut short.
Would love to have the movie, Talk to Me, here in Raleigh, North Carolina. Went to find where the movie was playing here in town....to my amazement...nowhere. So yes, I was disappointed.
I'm in Greensboro,NC and I've been looking forward to seeing this movie since I saw a preview of it months ago. I've been patiently waiting for it to come to my area and it still hasn't come. It seems like there are many people who've anticipated it's release and I for one would like to support Don Cheadle who I believe is highly underated. I've heard such great reviews but have yet to have the opprotunity to experience it myself. Come on, release this movie to more theaters!
It's not playing in Las Vegas. It took a while for them to start playing Akeelah and the Bee (in only one of over 10 theatres) here too. Maybe if the black people were indignant they would play it :)
I'm here in Detroit, MI and the movie is only being released at a theatre in Birmingham, MI which is an area where the minority is African American. My friends and family are all excited to see this movie and have been waiting more than patiently for its release. However, now that the scheduled nationwide release date has passed and the movie is not playing in our area, we're all a little ticked. Please let us know soon when the movie will actually be opening nationwide and no longer at select theatres.
I also am disappointed that this film is not playing in my area in NJ. The distribution is extremely limited (3 theaters in NJ) and not near areas with large black populations which would more likely be the audience that would support it. Seems like the film is set to fail at the box office due to lack of distribution -- what else is new? Would like to see film in New Brunswick/East Brunswick, NJ.
I'm in Raleigh, NC and "Talk to Me" isn't showing anywhere in my area. What is it going to take to bring this film to our town?
We are trying to support a brotha here in Louisville, Kentucky. Bring on the movie.
I live in Charlotte, NC, and can't believe this movie is not in theaters all over the country yet. WHAT IS GOING ON? This is truly an outrage.
I am in Richmond Va I can"t believe that this movie is only in select spots thats ridiculous. You might as well just put it on DVD.
P.S. Talk To Me is playing downtown Chicago @ the following address "AMC River East" 322 East Illinois Street, Chicago, IL 60611
:D
I am from the city of Chicago (The Show of Oprah Winfrey, The Controversial Rapper name Kanye West, The Talented Up and coming Rapper/Actor Common Sense, and The First Black Mayor of Chicago, Harold Washington - may he rest in peace). With that being said, I am in utter awe that this movie is NOT SHOWING in the downtown area, the south side area, nor any area near the City of Wind. I suggest that, each and every commentator on this website, write in to Harpo Productions a.k.a. The OPRAH WINFREY WEBSITE to ask her to review this string. Also, to ask her, if she'll consider asking this very question on her Talk Show? Which is "WHY IS THIS FILM ONLY PLAYING IN SELECT THEATRES THAT ARE NOT IN PREDOMININANTLY BLACK AREAS? IS HOLLYWOOD STILL AFRAID OF THE BLACK ACTOR/ACTRESS? OR IS THE BUDGET FOR THE FILM NOT ALLOWING IT TO BE PLAYED NATIONALLY?" Please log into her site and TAKE ACTION!! I'm sure the whole cast of the film would appreciate it and so would the masses of people that love movies PERIOD (not just people of black heritage). Who wouldn't appreciate a GOOD FILM? However, if it isn't good, shouldn't we be granted the OPPORTUNITY to say so?
Peace to All People
I've been waiting for this movie and I'm disappointed that its not show in the Dayton Ohio area I had plans to see Who's Your Caddy? and Talk to Me. So talk to me and let me know when its coming to my area.
Why does this website even exsist if does not give cities where the movie is playing???!!! Why do we want to read about how pissed everyone is with no solution!! This a total waste of a website!!! People please put in what city you did see it in! Thanks!!
I am from Indianapolis, IN and have been looking forward to see this movie and it was very disappointing to realized that this movie was not going to be seen here. Please have "Talk to me" come to Indy....add this to your list.
How sad. I wanted to check this very publized, well reviewed movie in my area, Chicago, and it's not playing in any local theaters. We are still living in an era were black movies, black actors, black directors are not accepted.
Everyone told me to see this movie on it's release date, saying it's a must see. Well, I waited and now can''t find it anywhere.....WHATS REALLY GOING ON ?? Is this 1969 0r 2007 !!
Please help me to understand WHY you've released this movie in select theatres on 7/13/2007, advertise that it would be released widespread on 7/27/2007 only to keep it showing in limited areas???? I live in the Chicagoland area & am totally shocked that a movie of this magnitude is only available where there is truly a "limited" amount of people of color! I don't know who decides where the movie is played, but they are upsetting the the greatest contributers of revenue to the american economy by showing your movie where we don't have instant or easy access to. We as a race of people are shocked, frustrated, & very disappointed in your blatant display of disrespect!
Thanks......for nothing!!!!
In the so called great NYC, Talk to Me was playing in only FIVE theaters. WHY? I managed to see it and Don Chedle was great! I don't even regret the fact that I got a parking ticket.
I really wanted to see your film. Why is it show only in certain areas?
Will the film be shown in Central Jersey?
Thank you
I am so disappointed that it is not showing in Jacksonville, FL. My friends and I wanted to see it after work yesterday; checked the newspaper and the internet and it's not here. I am so upset!!!!!
I have been excitedly waiting in anticipation for the national open of this -film, July 27. I was heart boken whne I made plans to see is today and found that it is not playing any theatres in Lansing, MI. (which by the way is Michigan's capital, not Detroit). I am from Lansing, not Detroit, a whole hour away. Will is ever come to Lansing?
I called a friend this morning to say let's go see Talk To Me. It's gloomy and looking like rain today. A Saturday afternoon movie would be great therapy! Guess what? It's not playing at the 18-theater movie house in Douglasville, GA nor is it playing at Magic Johnson's theater at Greenbriar. Alpharetta? Chamblee? Kennesaw? What's up with that??? This is a major disappointment. What is the business reason for limited engagements?
I'm stuck in here in Columbia,SC and this movie is not showing here nor in the surrounding areas. I guess I have to travel 3 hours to Atlanta to see it. The movie doesn't involve minstrels shuckin' & jivin' so it's a 'no' here....
My friends in Atlanta, GA say this Movie is a must see they went to see it twice. I live in Augusta, GA and there are no theatres within a hundred miles showing this movie. Looking forward to seeing it at theatres nearby soon.
I have not been able to find this movie in my city Chapel Hil, NC, or even in surrounding areas. I am highly disappointed.
I live in Columbia, SC. It seems that the movies with black actors do not come here, unless it is a black film where we are acting like clowns. It is really upsetting that this movie is being advertised, but not released in numerous cities. This situation reminds me of the release of the movie Dreamgirls. What can we do to get the movie here?
Could you please let us know when this will be in Delaware? If they were not going to open it up nationwide, why did they put it in the previews of other movies for everyone to see? Is this because it is a mostly an all black cast? Come on everyone wants to see this movie and it would get a lot of revenue
Its really sad, when the release date of the movie has come and gone. Noooooo where can it be found in the state of Indiana!!!!
WTF
I cant believe its only playing in Cleveland, Ohio which is 2 hrs away from Columbus. I would have never thought...til this cowboy administration period...that this start line up would not show in the capital city of Ohio. Slowlumbus does it again! No positive black stars showing here only drunk cocaine laced chicks...great role model!
I am highly upset and disapointed that the movie is only showing in TWO (2) theaters in the Chicago (CHICAGO!!!) area, and both theaters are in predominate areas that do not reflect or resemble any persons in the movie. I can only assume...No I know this is a direct attack on our culture, race and us as a people. And I'm sick of it, when will the madness stop.
you know they're only showing this movie in selected theatres, not the main ones in my neighborhood. Why's this? I live in Kent WA, 15 min south of Seattle. What are they afraid of here?
When and Where will this film be released in and around my city Jackson, Ms.? And why was this film so special that it couldn't be released.. as was the boring films released this week... It's the only movie trailer worth reviewing this week... Or was this release a sign on hidden racism?
I have been anticipating the release of this movie since I first heard about it about a month or two ago, only to find out that the movie wasn't playing anywhere near where I live on the scheduled release date. I am aware that the movie opened in select theatres on July 13, but on the trailers it says that the movie was scheduled to open nationwide on the July 27. Anyways, I live in Lafayette, LA and would love it if my anticipation could be ended soon! I'm sure this movie will live up to all its expectations with this all star cast. Lafayette and myself are waiting!
