I'm a little confused here. Elliot's a devout Catholic, I get that. And Catholic's don't believe in adultery. So why is he, after years of not cheating on Kathy gonna mess up this time? He and Kathy are seperated but they still are legally married. I know they're getting a divorce but one wonders if this "kiss" or "thing" with Dani is just an attempt to get an actual cause. If is, it sure was astupid.
Dani is an interesting character that will give a lot of twist and drama to the show. Keep her. Olivia and stabler need to have more one and one moments...without making them a couple... just drama.. it always keeps the audience hooked to the tv and waiting for next episode
Just saw SVU on USA last nite. Great. with Dann Florek and Chris Meloni about a cop with a druggie daughter. Keep up the great scripts. I think that was one of the best.

I do not like Elliots new partner. Olivia fit so much better in the mix and the show is disappointing without her because the dynamics have changed. Olivia come back soon!!

I have been SO loyal to this show through the years.
But I just want to say this: It was harder to remain loyal in season 7 than ever before. The episodes held very little of the stuff that attracted to me to the show in the first place.
WHERE was the partnership between Olivia and Elliot? There were times I turned the show off this year - SOOOO frustrating.
And the over the top plots, and famous guest stars did NOTHING to distract me from this.
Don't let this show go the direction of so many other greats!!! DOWN. Because the integrity of the concept is comprised for ... god knows what.
Bring it back. I beg you. When Olivia gets back from Mariska's maternity leave - I'll tune back in and HOPE again for the best.
But if season 8 doesn't redeem 7, I'm out for good. Yikes.

SVU has always been my favorite of the Law and Order series. I watch them all the time,. but I was very disappointed in this season's opener. You portrayed Olivia as breaking the law from the beginning of the episode, then at the end sending her off to an "undercover" with the FBI. Stupid, stupid, stupid and not believable. Let's hope the writing gets better than this season opener.

Hi. Im a huge fan of your show, so I was excited when i saw the new trial by jury but was imperved by the stupidity of the female actress from Frasier. Theres got to be better actresses.
I am extremely disappointed by your portrayal of eco and animal activists on your first episode of the season. I have been watching all the Law & Order shows for years and SVU was always my favorite. It is upsetting to see such a well-liked (and well-watched) show take such a narrow-minded, ignorant and extreme stance on a very sensitive issue. Labeling activists as terrorists is a disgrace to the victims of real terrorism. You aren't the only ones doing it - news media and the government has no problem using that term. Apparently mainstream audiences like stories (fiction and non-fiction) much better when they're sensationalized and distanced from the truth. If you do a follow up to this episode, please consider that branding people as "terrorists" is not only completely unjustifiable, but also extremely offensive to plenty of us in your audience.

I was so disappointed in last night's show. I love Benson & Stabler together as partners and probably will not watch if they don't get back together real soon. They are great together.

I agree with the person who said there should be follow-up with guest rape victims from previous seasons. There was an episode in either season one or season two that had a name, I can’t remember it at the moment, there was a part I after the name, but there never was a part II. It was the show were two victims were shot in the drivers seat in their car while in Central Park- the alleged shooter was a high society girl who eventually got off on the charges, but there was a thought that the second car shooting in central park had been a set-up to drop the charges against her. Will there ever be a part II? If not that episode I would love to see a follow up on another previous show -
First off, this is completely neat! Talking to someone from a television show is a 'once-in-a-lifetime-moment'...The episode was very interesting. I was hoping that Liv would find out immediately about El's injury, and then was surprised when Haley knocked her upside the head! But it was written well. I'm really looking forward to Olivia's return. You've really got me curious! (About the entire Season) But yet I'm still a bit nervous, I wouldn't think the crew would do *anything* to make fans not watch the show anymore. So we shouldn't be too nervous, right? I do have a couple questions.. do you know anything about the episode when Olivia *does* return? Please let Mariska know that her fans are sincerely sorry for the loss of her father, Mickey Hargitay. Her and her family are in my thoughts and prayers! (Thank You, Mr. Baer)

I think it would be great if there were some episodes that followed up with rape victims from previous seasons to see how they are doing and how thier lives have changed/stayed the same. Did the special victims team really help them get over their tramatic experience?
I appreciated the return of Star/Agent Dana Lewis. Will she be frequenting the SVU division more often?

With this distracting and misleading storyline you have put important and relevant questions about rampant corporate abuses into the mouths of destructive unstable characters rather than the horoes of the show. Seems like subtle manipulation to me. I hope your writers turn this one around. See post by "disappointed"- I give his words a hardy "amen".

Yes, there were some cut seasons from an episode in season two where Olivia does find out who her father was…he is a professor that her mother had a fling with, one night stand with in college, but it wasn’t any good, I am glad they cut it. It wasn’t dramatic enough, Olivia’s father should be a rapist – also finding out in season 2 would have been too soon into the series. Oh, the scenes were cut from the episode where her mother dies, you can see them on the deleted scenes section of the season two dvd box set.
It would be SOOOOO nice to have Benson and Stabler in the same scene once in a while. It's frustrating for fans who are just as loyal to that partnership as to the show in general.

This is one of the best opening shows ever...it's great to have the show go in a different direction for a bit. I'd like to see more of Alex's character again. Bringing in more personal details make the show seem more lifelike and human....
I cannot believe I am admitting this, for I am a huge fan, but here goes. I was all geared-up for watching the season premier of L&O: SVU after I had watched the season premier of L&O: CI. Then it came on and in less than ten minutes I was upstairs cleaning the refrigerator. It seemed severely anticlimactic to me. WHERE'S Olivia. I know, I know, she had a baby. Well, get her back to work, soon.

Please use this show to let rape victims know they can have a rape kit done without filing a police report at the same time. They can wait until they feel safe before filing the report, but the rape kit must be done within 72 hours.

As good as all the other Dick Wolf shows are and have been, it's too bad Law and Order: Criminal Intent is such an ordinary show. It cheapens the franchise. Vincent D'Onofrio's character is nothing but Columbo with a partner.

SVU is one of my favorite 2 shows that are still making new episodes. I have "helped" get a few other people watching it every week too. I was just wondering about Elliot & his family. It was so nice in older episodes to see them interacting and things going well. It really made Elliot a character I could connect with. What's going to happen with his family? I would really love to see them pull things back together and be the family we saw in earlier episodes.

It's been years since I've seen such quality acting as MARISKA HARGITAY portrays! She is a keeper no matter what show she is on. She has that rare quality of acting that convinces you it's the real thing!
Munch needs more spot lite this season. And Stabler and Beson should just stay friends. Luv the show and them being partners.
In answer to Roger about the episode with the art professor: The whole point was to have a case wherein the evidence was as evenly divided as it could be, so the jury's decision naturally couldn't be shown. I understood that, but I have to admit I didn't like it much either.

Congrats... you took the only unique cops and robbers show on the air and sold out into the same sensational stuff that CSI (especially Miami,) Without a Trace, and L&O CI are. So long, interesting, realistic and morally complex subject matter, hello prime time soap opera. I have been a fan of SUV and the original L&O for years. I will definetly continue to watch, but if the show continues on this path i don't think i could bear it. There are SO many L&O knock-offs that are more about the drama surrounding hte characters than the case or social issue at hand. Plese dont change the only thing that makes you better than the rest.
SVU is the best of all the law and orders- please don't jettison the benson-stabler team! please don't push the working with the feds idea too much-SVU needs to stay a gritty inner city crime unit

In Response to the posting about Elliott’s emotional meeting with the psychologist about his father: I am glad that the show dealt with Elliott’s anger, but I didn’t like that they decided that his anger stemmed from his issues with his father. Elliott had never mentioned much about his father before that. The show had lead us to believe that his anger stemmed from his marital and family problems, i.e. that he was never home to be with his family and he and his wife were splitting. THAT is the issue that Elliott needs to come to grip with. Is that going to be covered at all this year?

I agree with Heather. A romance on the show would actually ruin it. The great thing about Benson and Stabler is the sexual tension, chemistry, and love that exists on a never gonna surface basis. It would definitely ruin the show

Please cut out the profanity from your episodes. Tonight's premiere said "pissing away", & other past shows had much worse profanity. Have some respect for people who are offended by that. Surely you can think of other words for "damn, hell, shit, God damn, pissing", etc. Good writing is creative & elevated, not low down. Clean it up, OK?

Hey Neal: Sad, real sad - a sophmoric, cartoonish and blatant show of support for George W.Bush and the ruthless tactics we see practiced at Guantanomo Bay. Why didn't you tell the more accurate story of the simple fact that here in America we have allocated all these resources to fight terrorism and guess what....there are no terrorists to be found. So the FBI has been going after anti-war groups, food co-ops, neighborhood organizations, and yes activist environmental groups. What a sad state of affairs that your show tonite lends a supporting voice to. General Electric must be real proud of you!

I love both Munch and Fin. More of both PLEASE!!! Frankly I'm a little sick of the other two. Munch and Fin are far more original and the banter between the two actors gives their dialogue a lot of energy! I hate the insignificant role they are often given! Can't want for Uncle, but I hope there will be more than one episode where they do more than answer the phones and tell Elliot he to calm down... pat Olivia on the back and look impressed by her skills!!!

To be honest, I'm not sure if y'all care about this or not, but this was my first time actually watching this show. The Intro Title makes the show look like a cheaply produced show from the 80s, when that would pass as a cool intro. I have always seen that cheapo-looking intro and never watched the show because of that. Maybe, just maybe, it's time for an upgrade to catch the attention of viewers like me...the picky ones. Haha! I did LOVE the show though and I can't wait for the next episode!

Great episode!!! Mariska's character has such great potential....very glad to see her doing her thing ;) Wonderful idea to write her undercover instead of the usual prolonged illness or something that comes with maternity leave.

This was an excellent way to start the season off. This show was raw and got right down to the point. Though it wasnt exactly must see tv i was still curious in the end to find out what would happen. The writers of this show are absolutely brilliant especially last season with Chris Meloni's breakdown and switch of partners and all that jazz. The reintroduction of Marcia Gaye Harden's character was warmly welcomed by myself and my group of Law & Order addicts. I hope we'll be seeing more of her in the future. It's great to see Mariska back but you guys are such a tease when it comes to Benson role. I enjoyed the show.

They probably taped that show before Mariska had her baby, probably October's show too. She is taking some time off to be with her baby, give her a break. She'll be back. In the meantime they should have Elliot go even crazier.
I own a funeal home and I am glad that Oliva did not get shot. I have to deal with death on a daily basis. And it is not fun. We have gun shot wounded kids that were not in gangs and were killed. I live above the funeral home, with my nephew because his father drank him self to death.

Everyone keeps asking is Benson and Stabler are going to get together. I think if they do, it would almost ruin the show. The show is about the drama and the Victims, not about romance. I think the show would lose its edge if they got together. I was hoping Stabler would get back with his wife.

What's going on? This is crazy. We have lost three characters in CI, two in L&O the original, and now are we losing Olivia Benson? I for one get so tired of getting emotionally involved with the story lines and the characters, and then we lose them. I just hope that Olivia is staying around. OOPS! I just saw that part in the blog. Sorry. But not sorry about the sadness we feel when we lose characters in the L&O family.

I think that Benson and Stabler should become closer and hopefully start a relationship. I think that they would make a great couple. They already spend all thier time together so what would hurt if they started seeing each other. They are wonderful together and I think they are the best along with the rest of them.

Why do you continue to have the detectives suggest they should shoot to wound? That is completely contrary to police training. If one must use your weapon, one must use it to kill. It makes your characters seem sympathetic to criminals who intend to kill...perhaps that is your intent. Thank you for your comments.

This episode was as riveting as the rest, with a different flair. I must say, though, this particular branch of the L&O series keeps moving more and more left (gay rights, eco-rights, etc) and this will cause you lose some of the core audience who has been with youfor years.
I loved the premiere! It was great to see Marcia Gay Harden again (even if her character is a jinx ;) L&O: SVU has the greatest "cops" on any of the L&O series. It's to easy to get emotionally wrapped up w/ Olivia, Elliot, Fin and Munch.
My only question is:
Am I going to have to wait long to see Olivia & Elliot working together again?

I love SUV, and I've watched it since the beginning. Stabler and Benson work so well together and I cannot say that I am thrilled about the ending of this episode, although it was wonderfully written and riviting!

Why does the show persist in writing the characters as if they are ignorant of the law? In today's episode, Olivia acted as if she had had no idea that her collection of the rape victim's underwear was totally illegal. The viewers aren't that dumb. The characters shouldn't be either.

Last year Chris Merloni had a very dramatic scene with a psychiatrist about his father and how he was abused. i liked the direction that this story line was going in. Can we have more indepth story lines with the characters?

Pretty good episode.....a bit loopy at points....such as Stabler being blown up going to the hospital, then arriving in the squad room all happy-like. I also think Stablers new partner should be Dog, the Bounty Hunter....HAHAHA

Mariska Is such a wonderful actress. You can tell she is alot like Olivia on how well she portrays her. She is geogous, independent, strong, brave, and everything i strive to be in life. If i could ever get the chance to meet her I think i would pass out!!

The show is going great so far! I was at the C & I blog and someone mentioned a possible SVU and C&I crossover show. I think it would be great. Benson and Stabler need to hook back up as partners real soon, they are what make SVU my favorite Law and Order series. If you ever need babies I have one year old twins, if I can't be on the show, I'd be just as ecstatic.

I love Law and Order :SVU so much that I have a puppy named olivia and a kitten named Eliot.
I was wondering if there was any way i could contact the people who play the characters on Law and Order: SVU and possibly meet them one day. That are such wonderful actors/actresses. It would be such a dream come true.

Hello, So far I am very impressed with tonights episode. I love Stabler and Bensen, actually I love all of those who make SUV an awesome show. I was wondering if you could possibly give me something that I could tell my fourth graders. Many of them have vivid imaginations and typically are discouraged from using that imagination in todays world. I try to encourage them to be creative and I tell them they can accomplish anything, including being an actress, actor, writer, producer, etc. Is there some sort of encouragement you could give me to pass on to those kids who may need it to fulfill their full potentials? Thank you for your time, I know my request is a bit odd but it is my hopes to encourage my students and my daughter to be the best they can be, while letting them know they can be what they want and succeed. I was wondering if we will get to see more of Richard Belzer in the future? The Belz has a huge fanbase, ya know. And we would love to see tons more of him. Unless, of course, HE doesn't want to do more.
And the other two series have had major cast changes. So far, SVU is in the clear. Now, do you foresee in the future any current cast characters leaving in the near future? And...if you can...who?
