HBO Film - Details
It is one of the iconic books of last 50 years. It won a Pulitzer Prize. The movie starts with Battle of The Little Bighorn and ends with Massacre at Wounded Knee, which is probably the final chapter in the genocide of the American Indians that was performed in this country.
The amazing thing about "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" is that it's told from the viewpoint of the Indians, not the white man. I can honestly say, we have virtually every American Indian actor alive today in the film. Now, amazingly enough, American Indian is the correct term - not Native American - to refer to indigenous people who lived here long before the white man was here.
It is the single most important book ever written about American Indians. It is the Battle of Algiers, The Schindler's List of one of the most shameful chapters in our American History.
It airs in May on HBO. Don't watch it when Law & Order is on!

How can I write to Mr. Wolf?
Very nice site! Good work.
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee was the catalyst for my study of American Indian history - particularly for the Indian perspective. I was absolutely amazed when I read it because there was so much that was either not covered or glossed over during my 12 years of primary and secondary education. I literally cried when I read. I am so brimming with excitement over the prospect of turning that book into film. Thank you. BTW: I'm a faithful fan of L&O!
The film sounds amazing. I can't wait to see it in May.
It's so nice to see that you have a sense of humor about the iffy ratings L&O has received recently ("Don't watch it while Law & Order is on.") I think that, if anything, is going to be what really helps L&O bounce back: the fact that at least outwardly, people seem to be acting rather unconcerned about the ratings. That way episodes will stay good and - hopefully - not fall into the trap of trying to hard (for better ratings, more viewers, etc). Because, personally, I believe that trying to hard is what tends to lead to the downfall of a show.
i am reading wm bennett's book america the last best hope so looking forward to seeing movie
As a descendant of native americans and canadians, I thank you
Is the book appropiate for children 12-11? I homeschool my children, and right now, we are studying a great deal of history including the "Native" American's (I didn't know about the name change). I'm finding out that there is so much about history that I didn't know.
Is Tonantzin Carmelo in this movie?
MR. WOLF...HOW CAN A FAN / PERSON GET TO BE A EXTRA ON ANY OF YOUR L&O SHOWS ???(ONE OF THE PEOPLE IN THE BACKGROUND WALKING BY...OR STANDING NEAR THE CHARACTERS DURING A SCENE...OR WHATEVER AVAILABLE) MR. Most amusing "repeat offender" has got to be Diane Neal. She goes from rapist to ADA...you go girl!
i can't wait tom see it!
I can't wait to watch it.
Is there a time in the known universe that law and order or one of it's counterparts isn't on the airwaves??? If there is don't tell me!
if you are shooting in Canada the correct term according to the Canucks is Aboriginal People...
I remember when Lt. Van Buren was in an original episode as a cleaning lady whose son had been killed. She was good then, but even better as the shows continue!! Miss Sorvino and ADA Stone!
You mean there are other shows besides Law & Order?
" gasp..choke..giggle"
Is it being filmed in Canada? I've never really understood that.
Don't worry! L&O always comes first! ^_^
