My powers seem to be fading. I don't know how. Or why. But, I must find that katana. I wasn't able to save Charlie and a Cheerleader died in Odessa. Jackie Wilcox. Was she the Cheerleader I was supposed to save? What if I ruined everything?

I'm not going to let their deaths be in vain...

how do you stop an exploding man? haven't you been keeping up with marvel comics. Wolverine totally own'd Nitro just by stabbing him in the chest after he exploded... ok so there's some problems with killing him AFTER he explodes. but if he explodes somewhere else, then you can take him out before he regenerates his power. (of course in wolverines case, he was only alive due to his rediculous regenitive powers)

Nitro had already killed a bunch of children, at that point Wolverine was just killing him for revenge. not that your life model should be wolverine by any measure.

I'm sure if you can stop time, then it's probably possible to neutralize the threat before it goes off (as soon as you get your powers back)

It's hard to say how to stop an exploding man when you don't know what made him exlpode in the first place. Maybe once you find the sword, you can then find what made him explode, then go back in time and prevent the explosion itself.

How do you stop an exploding man? Just convince him that he doesn't want to explode. (That or Charm Person).

Failing that, since the sword helped Kensei focus his powers, maybe it could help you focus yours to isolate the blast from the world, somehow. Maybe by using its Bankai (right, since every sword ever is a zanpakuto. Hey, we can wish, at least.)

When do we get to see this Linderman fellow? He seems to be connected to the heroes on too many levels not to know something about them. He's tied to Niki (loaned her money, called in a favour to blackmail Nathan), Hiro (has the actual sword Hiro seeks), Nathan (first through his father, then as a campaign "supporter"), and Isaac (buys his paintings, perhaps looking for prophecy for profit?), at the minimum. I have to wonder if Mr. Bennett is getting his orders from Linderman? Any insights??

Hiro, I suggest you avoid using Masamune as a name for your sword and go with Muramasa. According to Kazuo Koike & Goseki Kojima, research of edo period Nippon showed just saying the word Muramasa around people was enough to strike fear into them. I think you should hold on the the replica and use it as a jitte, when you do get your sword make sure to practice your suemonogiri. Once you have perfected it you will be able to hinoshito kaizan! If you fail at this you will be kobushin-gumi.

At least, that's what I've discovered in my ten years of watching Japanese Anime and American Superhero flicks, since I was about five.

And that sword does look pretty cool. My brother's got a two handed katana, and it totally rocks my socks off. He won't let me touch it, but I'd probably end up cutting off my arm or something.

Worst case - freeze time, teleport the man somewhere remote, teleport yourself back and unfreeze. Tho' I'm sure it won't come to that,

btw - be careful with your sword.. many martial arts now (I'm a Jitsuka myself) practise disarming them - and the techniques are often fatal to the person they're applied to..

Wish i could say that hasn't happened to me before.
The simple solution is blunt force trauma to the head, to knock him out so that the active dna sequence that's telling his body to detonate stops along with the rest of his body. I suggest slamming the flat end of that katana into his head. You're fairly strong, right? Or you could use your power to slow down time, and thus his explosion would be slowed, causing you to have ample striking range.
Either this, or cut his head off. One or the other.

Okay, recap.
On one hand you incapacitate the exploding guy, in the other, you end his life in six seconds of brutal decapitation. I'm game for both, but you should try to find the non-lethal way, dude.

Man, I was worried about you. You hadn't updated since Christmas, and we were left with that depressing message.

I'm glad you got to see Isaac. I don't think it matters how they look. In my opinion, Stan Lee doensn't look very impressive, but he's still very wise and creative. I think Isaac may be on his way to becoming Stan Lee. Uh, about the drugs . . . well, maybe it's not as big a problem in Japan, but sometimes in America people take drugs, not just medicine, just to feel the after-effects. It's sorta like getting drunk on sake. It's not a good habit, so don't do it. It does a lot of harmful stuff to you as well, and it's really hard to stop.

I think the whole stepping-on-a-bug thing is just a theory. I think if you went back in time and did something dramatic like saved Lincoln's life, that would be a different story. But stepping on a bug? No. It just makes me laugh when I think of that absurd episode of "The Simpsons." (I bet you've seen it.) That's just my opinion, though.

It might be the sword that Peter Pettrelli saw. And just because it doesn't glow doesn't mean it's not magical. Have you ever seen a cartoon called "Samurai Jack"? It's American, but that's what I think of regarding the whole sword thing.

I made a post already, but it seems to have disappeared into the unknown reaches of the cosmos.

What I wanted to say was that Charle gave you many gifts, including love, compassion, and a sense of purpose. You have the strength within you to harness these great feelings and turn them into something spectacular. A hero finds their strength within themselves, powers or not, and hitching your faith to a physical item (no matter how cool or special it may be) is negating your own internal power. A warrior isn't built of armor and swords; A warrior is a simple person who steps forward in times of need and becomes something greater than himself. I have confidence that you will find your sword, but you must realize that you already have the power in yourself. Brace yourself on a foundation of love, truth, and honor and Charlie's memory will be honored by it. A sword is just a piece of metal without a hand to guide it true. There is so much beauty in you. Never forget what made her love you——your endless optimism and devotion to goodness. The dark side is with all of us; don't succomb to its allure and fall prey to it persuasion. Know that there is a season and reason to all things, and while you've lost Charlie in body, she will be with you always in memory and light.

I also notice that in the drawing of the guy who "used" to own the sword. He looked almost IDENTICAL to future hiro. With the beard and everything.

I am so sad for your loss. Have you ever considered that your powers may be going wonky because of the tragedy of Charlie's death? I think you should keep trying to get this sword, as it's at least a clear purpose you can work towards. The best way to discover why your powers are fading is to retrace your steps. When was the first time you noticed the decrease in them? Was it when you found out that you didn't save Charlie. Personally, I think it’s your concern about the people who you can't save. Every time I see your squishy face, I just know your thinking about them. Your so concern about how you'll mess up, that you can no longer fully release your power.

You stop an exploding man by reversing the polarity of the explosion as in a magnet, you seperate the north and south poles before you can accomplish this. After the seperation of the poles have occured you have created a magnetic force which can hold particles together, thus your power to stop time is a field of magnetism you have created.

Hiro, I was sad to see that you could only slow things down, then get a Linderman replica sword. It's like in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, when Death struck Alucard with magic and he lost all his items, then he thinks he found his sword, only to find out it's a fake (Alucart) sword.

You are supposed to be a great hero, and you will fulfill this, otherwise you wouldn't have appeared before Peter Petrelli stopping time and having your sword. You're depressing some of us Hiro. Lots of us have no super powers and we continue to support in any way we can with advice and providing moral support. Don't lose hope just because your powers are fading. Pehaps its just sunspots messing with your supernatural energy and they will come back in time. Try to look for a better tommorow.

As for the explosion, thats a bit trickier. Logical science would dictate the best way to prevent an explosion would be to remove one or more of the reactants so the chemical reaction that causes the explosion is halted. But we can't really be sure that it works though convential science. I mean look at what you can do. Science says thats impossible. My advice would be to try to find and save the cheerleader as soon as possible then afterwards try to prevent the explosion after hopefully learning more.

I reccomend teleporting the exploding man to outer space. This will yeild two positives: New York will be saved, and a fantastic fireworks show.

I think the problem with him exploding is that he mimics powers and when you all get to new york I think that is going to put too much energy into his body which he wont be able to control leading to the explosion. You need to stop a critical chain reaction by making something absorb the neutrons he is generating. In reactors they use control rods made of cadmium and boron. Cadmium is toxic, but boron is an essential mineral -- although too much can lead to problems.

If it is Nathan who is going to explode, you could just run some control rods straight through him while the cheerleader is nearby. Hopefully it will stop the reaction and the cheerleader's powers should be able heal him.

The boy whose father can phase shift and whose mother has a dual-identity has powers that let him understand machinery. Maybe you could enlist his help to make something to control the power of radiation generation.

How do you stop an exploding man? You do it the same way a bomb squad disposes of an explosive: detonate it ahead of schedule, away from anyone who could be hurt.

Of course, the ethical considerations of that are a bit much. . . especially if this is another vision that might not happen.

There's one way to stop an exploding man: He has to be killed before he explodes.
Unless you find out the reason that makes him explode which would allow you to eventually stop that process, killing him is the only way.

I've been a fan of the blog for a while now, but since your abilities are so far from my own experience, I've kept silent. Finally, though, the ball is in my court! I'm a grad student in vertebrate paleontology at the University of Cincinnati. I may not have any powers, but if you need to know how to take out a dinosaur, I'm your man! First off, your foe is Carnotaurus sastrei, a one metric ton flesh-eating theropod dinosaur from Argentina. It lived about 100,000,000 years ago during the Cenomanain stage of the Late Cretaceous, a time even before T. rex roamed America. If you want to disable it, the best tactic would be to cut the ligaments between the tarsals (ankle-bones) and tibia (shin). This is a week point for theropods in general, but would be particularly effective against C. sastrei because its puny arms would be of no use in righting itself. Incidentally, a recent study by Mazzetta et al in the journal Gaia has shown that Carnotaurus had legs built for speed, and jaws proportioned for a quick, snapping bite. They concluded that while huge, this monster was adapted for hunting relatively small prey. That includes you, Hiro. Be careful out there!

This show is awesome. I sit down every Monday night to check this show out. Its the #1 reason "Deal or No Deal" get the ratings it does on Monday nights :) I hope this season impresses me creatively as much as the last season did. It was slightly depressing that you could not go back to the right moment to save the girl at the diner cause her skills interested me, being able to learn what she read so quickly. I did not quite understand why you were unable to go back to when you wanted to, except it seems that you really have not had any control as to just how far you've been able to go back in time, so that may make sense. Its almost pointless to have that time travel part of your power if you cannot control it well enough to use it. The stopping time part IS very useful though, as you have proven by saving the girl from being ran over. :)

Hiro-san! So good to see an update again. You have to get a katana and fight dinosaurs? Forgive me if I don't see how that will save New York from exploding...I mean, I know the littlest thing can set a whole chain of events in motion, but...isn't that a little far reaching? Please just make sure it isn't something simple the painting prophet saw, like you wandering around in a museum with a katana and seeing a -replica- of a dinosaur. Maybe the exploding man works in a museum and you can stop him by talking to him.

That doesn't sound very exicitng. Really, I just worry for you if you're planning to go all the way back to the Jurassic Age.
