If Hiro going back in the past screwed up things (and got sklar to kill the cheerleader) going to visit Peter was his attempt to correct it.
The waitress may know Hiro but didn't want to let him know (until he time traveled).
Her powers only recently emerged; does Hiro's travel travel to visit her change her/alter her?
Hiro could have set a trap for Sklar using her as BAIT, But if she isn't killed, then he wouldn't Time Travel. Thus I don't see how he can save her without really altering things.
Something could have happened in the bathroom while hiro was there; meet up w/ this time traveling self?
Someone said that Peter didn't give Hiro the message about where they meet for the 1st time, but I think he did, he said, "I have a message for you.." we didnt'hear what it was.

Hold on... the Indian kid was a girl???? I would've sworn that was a boy!!
Maybe the father wanted the girl to be a boy, and that why the girl was dressed that way. That would be an interesting twist.

Zachary Quinto is going to be Sylar, this has been confirmed by Kristen at eonline. She had a link to the Sean Bean IMDB and flat out said it was FALSE. I do lots of surfing and scouring for info on this show...I'm just sayin, IMDB is not the be all and end all of the entertainment industry. It's possible that they considered SB for the role but and it somehow (overzealous agent/manager) was added to his IMDB, but it just ain't so!
The kid is NOT Sylar (my opinion, but I feel STRONGLY about it) For some reason the name is similar but don't y'all think that's a little too convenient? I do not think the writers are just going to hand that over to us....

Hiro causes a rift in the time space continuum by traveling back in time and staying so long. Just go back and listen to what Neo-Hiro said to Peter.

Ok first off when Hiro goes back in time he went at least 6 months ( how long ago Charlie's birthday was ) probably a bit further since they obviously have a relationship going at the point the picture was taken.
Now as to why there is still a crime scene in the diner for one it is a weekly show and it is a cliffhanger folks :) Second think of the changes Hiro will have made sort of as a ripple effect that have to catch up to the present and replace the previous events. The first ripple was the change in the picture.
After not doing something about the guys at the card game when Jessica attacked Hiro needs to win here to prove to himself this is his destiny and he can make a difference as this is bigger than saving the girl in Japan or DL and the woman in Nevada.
I am betting Ando will remember even when Hiro changes things. Think of Ando sort of as an anchor for Hiro.
Now to try and dispell the brain eating theory one more time :) Remember in the scenes of Sylar's victims the brain is removed from the skull, but still whole and at the scene. The FBI would have mentioned as a rather important part of the case if part of the brain was missing. We know from when Claire had the tree limb in her head the brain controls the powers and since Sylar is trying to kill all the powered people he needs to take out their brains.
Everything Sylar does is using a variation of his Telekinetic powers not any other powers which proves he does not need them so does not eat the brains. Sylar is just a serial killer of a particular type of person and the brain removal is his signature.
Remember he did not kill he little girl, but he wanted her so he must know she will have a power. I don't think he will kill children because the dream boy in Mohinder's dreams is Sylar as a boy ( check the name on the folder ) and he was good at one time, but Mohinder's father did something that cut off his dream power and brought out the TK powers and I think that is what made him snap and kill him. He viewed Mohinder's father as his father, but what he did seemed like a betrayal to Sylar so he killed him and is now trying to eliminate everyone that could prove his father's theories were right.

Interesting thoughts there ChitaStL. Those theories could actually be as correct as many others here. I do believe though that I think we may be overestimating the complexity of the show. It's already full of clues and hidden facts that make it complex, so it makes sense that some things and plots must be so simple that it's right there in our faces and not realize it. It’s the mark of great shows to combine complex reasoning with simple behavior or mannerisms that make you think...damn, I should have seen that coming. Heroes I think is full of that.
That being said. I still think that This Sylar person's reasoning is something in line with already proven behavior. HE does seem to follow proven Serial killers behavior. Tracking and stalking, planning, shrine like rooms and even taking trophies. I don't think he absorbs powers. I believe that HE does take trophies as in their brains to do with as he pleases. Sylar’s motives can be as simple as making sure he’s the only super power that exists, or it could be that he hates what has happened to him so much that he’s made it a quest to lessen other’s suffering by making sure they or others don’t suffer because of the super powers, much like a psychotic avenging angel. I think it’s more along thought process of past serial killers, I don’t think he’s doing it to gain more power. He may think he does gain some kind of power over his victims, but not necessarily their actually super power.
Also if you notice the powers used in the attacks on his victims. I don't think its Sylar using a new stolen super power. Remember that the few times we've seen Sylar he only used one type of power, whether in the restaurant or against the FBI. Weird huh? If he absorbed powers then why not use them then to be more effective? No, I think that his confrontation with some of his victims somehow forces the victims to unconsciously tap into their power to protect themselves and since these victims may not know their power, then it back fires and becomes an erratic way to protect themselves in a panic. Like shooting yourself with your gun if you don't know how to use it.Infact how can we be sure that all the victims are because of Sylar. It could also be a person not knowing their power and jsut shot themselves on the foot or a victim of someone else that has the power and couldn't control it. Like the DOctor burnt to a crisp, everyone thought it was because of sylar, but it wasn't.
Now, radioactive guy and the nuclear explosion. He’s already stressed and about ready to pop each time he is confronted. No one tries to shoot at a box of explosives without thinking it's not going to explode. What happens when you try and agitate something already unstable? It goes KABOOM!!! So if say Sylar tries to get him and he already knows what Sylar is capable of. I would think that in that state of mind and if threatened with no chance of escape he'd become agitated, violent and take everything he can with him to the grave. As a soldier that had been in a dangerous situation before, I know that my mindset was that if I will not survive then I’m going to take as much of the bad guys as I can with me. Radioactive man has no control of his powers, if pushed and if in a panic and if desperate enough, then he’ll probably tap into the full force of his power as a last survival attempt.
Plus, I'm sure I’m not the only one that thought that while being agitated in the interview room that if he is shot by the agent that there would have been a nuclear explosion. I’m sure that the explosion is cause by some threat to him, whether it is Sylar or homeland security.
It makes sense that the way to prevent such a powerfu force from being dangerous is at the source. In texas, By Hiro. I may be wrong about HIro and peter meeting too. Now that i think of it, Peter could get a scar fast. If he is injured by sylar and is with claire, then he could heal, but since it's not his main power, he could be weakened enough by Sylar to only heal partially. Especially if he is near death. Kind of a trade, he's alive but scarred for life. Either case this show keeps you thinking and keep you wanting more. LOL

Well, think a while and you find the answer:
Sylar has the abilitie of absorb powers permanent. The radioacive man says he can explodes. Claire can regenerate.
so we have this:
madman+nuclear power+regeneration=nuclear bomb in New York

Sean Bean is not Sylar, IMDB can be edited by anyone, so someone could have just put that there. NBC hasnt confirmed who is playing him yet
|
|
|
|
First and foremost. To everyone reading this, make sure you check out the Heroes page on IMDB. Once you do you will see that Sylar is being played by Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings/National Treasure). The next two episodes will reveal Mucho Mucho.
Next weeks title is Homecomming in which all the fun stuff will happen. The one i'm really waiting for is the following week and FINAL episode of the season...Titled Six Months Earlier.
Things to note from IMDB....Ando is the only character in all 12 episodes. Coincidence?
To clarify...The little indian boy from the dreams is not Sylar...Clair's dad is not Sylar.
And can anyone explain to me why Hiro looks so disturbed in the photo at the very end of the last episode? Was it because he realized that there was no way to save the waitress?

I wonder if somebody has all the episodes recorded or are keeping a running list of the facts. It'll be much easier to be confused if we keep track of what we are certain. Then we can answer the who's the why's, the what's, the when's and the where's. Then we can actually say we are making educated guesses. Add in those magazine articles that say what's comming up still and we'll have something like the Committee of Heroes. Or we can do just whatever we've been doing, adding in the same two cents as a half-dozen others and argue about it's details until we've forgotten the main idea or it is too battered to resemble it.

fascinating stuff. Just like to see if this makes sense... The one time we've seen Hiro time travel from the present (when he traveled to NY) he lost ,what was it, three weeks in the trip? So can we expect that he will lose time in this trip as well? I can't guess how it will work out with Charlie, but I think we can't expect him to return to the present as quickly as he'd hoped.

Dear Laith and Sgt:
I SO enjoy reading your thoughtful postings! Your applied logic and reasoning run on similar tracks to mine. Thank you both for bringing to light to some interesting details I missed while viewing the chapters/episodes. I look forward to reading your future postings!
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who reviewed the Heroes pilot and subsequent chapters for the clues (and the comic book files courtesy of our Host's 'sponsors'). I enjoy the treasure hunt for clues, e.g., the DNA helix fragments peppering the episodes, in a fun attempt to correctly divine the protagonists' future – present/future/past, in Hiro's case :-) – actions in forthcoming shows.
My contribution of observances, if I may… I was intrigued by Sylar’s NY apartment's extended wing (an adjacent vacant apartment? My assumption owing to the roughed-in wiring for lighting), AKA map room and curtained-off alcove. Would you regard Sylar's graffiti on his apartment walls covering rambling notes and scratchings evidence of his internal struggles a la Niki, in that he's also troubled by an alternate conscience? He seems to be struggling with his hunger to push his powers (partial VM on the answering machine and conversation with the professor), acquired or nascent, with the heinous crimes he's committed and will commit? Could the powers he’s adopted be in conflict with each other?
Here’s a stretch: any chance that those conflicts could be created by the deceased persons’ lingering brain waves Sylar’s absorbed along with their powers at war with his? Could their anguish be coming through and expressed by him to create those walls of warring consciousnesses – again a la Niki – in that they momentarily take over and, being virtual prisoners by his own will, can only express their horror through written expression?
One more stretch: could that future atomic explosion be when Sylar loses his argumentative/conflicts with the sub/conscious with those of the atomic man he's possibly absorbed earlier when he fights the heroes closer to the November date we 'witnessed' in the pilot?
Goodness. Who would have thought we'd look forward to Mondays? LOL

I'm tired, and drained. Emotionally, and physically. There are days like today, when I find that good things finally happen I can not explain.
But, before days like today have to happen, I work hard without ever feeling like I'm doing any good. Today is one of those days, when all of those hard worked days comes together.
It's like that computer question, when it was asking: Are you sure you want to quit? Yes or No. You know you want to quit, but what happens if you do? What won't happen if you do?
Hiro is one of the characters on the show that reminds me not to give up on believing in yourself. Keep moving. Keep trying.
HUGS to all

Close to the end of episode 8 when she shows him the key, Mohinder finds the file of his kid sister along with a picture of the girl he was seeing. Mohinder himself is a Hero and appears to have the power to see past events in time. Think of it like remote time viewing. ^-^
Sylar is just some classic nut job serial killer who has telekinetic powers and a sweet tooth for rubbing out those like him. He save’s their brains in Jars as Trophy’s nothing more. Mohinder’s Father should have studied the guy’s ability to reason before opening up that can of worms and showing Sylar his potential.
Hiro is sad in the picture because at that moment he realized that in order to save the world, he must save the Cheerleader and that means allowing Sylar to kill his newly found sweetheart. Yes Hiro is changing and learning to fix his own rifts…"
man... that was junk. first of all the kid is not Mohinder's sister. its a boy, and his name is Sanjog Iyer. he appears to be a subject that Chandra was studying before leaving for NYC. and what with the spoiler? hiro is sad because he realized... blah. man thats nothing but a bunch of speculation. im sure that the facial expression that Hiro had will be important in next episode because it was a major cliffhanger at the end of this episode

2 things.. the reference of time always seems to be 11:53, like th watch on sylars wrist or the clock when Hiro is on the subway in "genesis". 11:53 is the current time of the doomsday clock, it is how close we are to nuclear holocaust. Did anyone else notice that when the waitress charlie was killed she was (what sounded like) slashed in the head with a large knife, or sicle, and then blue colored fluid dripped down her face. is the different colored blood part of the unusual DNA strain of the heroes. perhaps after they become "activated" after they are kidnapped by the "haitian" like Matt(the cop) and Ted (radioactive man) talked about how the lost a couple of days were all bruised and then their abilities appeared. OR what if they are injected with this manufactured DNA to see how it manifests in each person. just my 2cents

Divine, I'm amused at your choice of words but thank you anyway for getting the point across. If it doesn't apply let it fly.
To all the people flinging pebbles at me. What is it about this show that intrigues you the most. Most here have at least an interest in Hiro in common. Considering your reactions to my post, I would think that this would be the last show you would watch. Did my comments strike that sensitive a nerve that you were compeled to call me out my name.
Lastly, am I too old, or too young, to understand why it is ok to disrespect those we disagree with?

After reading some of the comments here, I would like to contribute another 2 cents to this discussion blog.
To Laith:
*How could Ando be the "control" element? Shouldn't he be affected by the changes resulting from Hiro's actions in the past just like everyone else?
*As for Sylar not going after Hiro - if he has a way of figuring out which individuals have special abilities, why doesn't he yet know that Hiro is special? My take is that he's probably not expecting Hiro to be in America. He might know that there is at least one special person in Japan, but probably doesn't realize that he came to the U.S.
To redflutterby:
*You might be onto something with the observation that Claire's Dad could be Sylar, and that Sylar could be taking people's brains benefit from their abilities.
*The theory about Mr. Bennet "jump-starting evolution" is interesting, but here's the question I have: If he's the one making people special, how come Matt Parkmancould could read thoughts even before he was captured by Mr. Bennet and the Haitian. It's likely that the organization that these two work for is trying to keep track and monitor individuals with special abilities. They could also be trying to facilitate the evolution of the said abilities. It's also possible that tracking various special people could lead to the capture of Sylar, who seems to be the most advanced "mutant" out there, and who's probably getting stronger the more brains he obtains. The message left on Chandra Suresh's answering machine suggests that Sylar might be trying to see if he really is the most powerful, and what the limits of his abilities really are.

Hmm... Hiro certainly went back to at least the time when the picture with the cake was taken. Yet, it's not clear what effect he had on the past. He definitely met Charlie, but did he save her? It seems unlikely, because there is still a crime scene in the diner, and Ando still remembers everything that happened. If Hiro really did change the past, then the crime scene would no longer be there, and Ando wouldn't have experienced the visit to the diner the way he did originally. Although some might propose that a parallel reality was formed upon an unexpected change in the space-time continuum, this does not coincide with the facts of the show. In my opinion, there could only be two kinds of repercussions resulting from a change to the past. One possibility is that the past was changed and an alternate reality was indeed formed, with the original reality unfolding the same way it did before. The other possible outcome is that the past was changed, and the present was altered accordingly. This is what makes me question whether Hiro actually saved Charlie. It’s clear that this event falls into the second category of repercussions described above, because a picture that previously featured only Charlie now also has Hiro in it. Thus, what we’re witnessing in the scene where Ando paces near the picture on the wall while waiting for Hiro to return is definitely the original reality unfolding in a new way. Now, here’s what baffles me – if Hiro did indeed save Charlie, then why would there still be a crime scene in the diner, and why would Ando know that Hiro was supposed to return in five seconds?
The other interesting question is, of course, what happened to Hiro himself?

there was this one rpg(role playing game) where heroes powers were discovered to be produced from a node or gland in the brain. maybe this theory is carried over to this possible universe. that would explain why sylar eats brains

Cevyn is absolutely right. People…. Let’s leave the S**T well enough alone. Everyone can see S**T and this S**T is definitely big enough to be seen a mile away. Let’s just step around all the S**T being left here by S**TY people thinking they have S**T that is important enough for them that they have to S**T on the road. So let’s do the right thing that Cevyn made a point of saying and everyone leave Cevyn’s pile of S**T alone!! Don’t blame the S**Ter, just ignore and walk around his S**T. I mean if Cevyn likes to S**T then let us let his laying S**T lie.
OK so everyone understand? Let the S**Ter S**T. Ignore it and let's move on!! =-)
Although……most places do have ordinances that penalize the person for not picking up their S**T…Hmmmm Maybe we need something like that to keep it S**T free………

This is for Christopherlee and Link. I had thought that I apologized for using this space for my own purposes and I also thought that I asked to not address this topic here out of respect to Hiro and the fans of this show. Your comments lend me to believe I have not.
I will reply this one time and ask that ANYONE who wishes to discuss this further or voice there opinions to me, NOT to do so here! I already posted contact info so please use it.
Christopher you are correct in your observations of the policies of the Catholic Church. However, I do not agree with your keep it to yourself phylosophy. It was doing that very thing that forced me to stray from God, for fear of rejection and ridicule. Keeping it to myself did not help me nor did it make it stop. I was only able to find peace and understanding through sharing.
As for Link, if you do not care, why say anything, just proceed to the next post.
If you are walking down the street and spot a pile of s**t in the road, do you step in it and complain to whoever left it there or do you step around it? Not an important question just curious! Anyways, I love to debate topics, but only to find answers. If you have nothing helpful or beneficial to say then you too are part of the problem. Please take your own advice and stick to the show

I know about people that have special abilities and how they are exiled on a personal level. I hope you praise God for the gifts you have, but people will want to hurt you for what they don't have or understand. Please Take heed in boasting about having powers and using them in religious matters. People will just end up calling you a False Massiah, or a False Prophet. Becareful man

IMO Syler maybe removing the brains of his victims to gain their abilities somehow!
Perhaps he absorbs their abilities by touching their brains or eating them (Mmmmmm...brains!), but his power may be a permanent absorbtion.

The first developing episodes are always frustrating but now the show is on a roll. The character of Hiro is quite entertaining. His quest to be true to his Good Nature is admirable. Everyday people seem to give in to power and fame which eventually corrupts their nature. What is so captivating is that each character is being forced to accept or deny their special talents. Their are people all around us that do not accept their talents and or gifts. Also their people who focus on wordly power or riches which becomes their own personal gods. This story also portrays those evils struggles as well. Even though Heroes is fiction, I can see some of my own desires and demons being fought amongst the characters of the show.
Be true to thyself: Go Hiro, GO!

Ok, the two guys that are talking about God and using your gift for God, How do you insist on doing that. Using your "gifts " if you actually have them, only makes things worse for you, even in God's name. People that are different like that are excluded from Religious people because apparently it's " A Demonic Power,"because they wouldn't understand. There have been people that are Christians that have the power to for-see the Future and were exiled from the Catholic Church due to there "Demonic Heirisy" because it is not of Human Nature. Yes i know you're going to say, "well Jesus had abilities" and we all know that, but go to your church and tell them you have abilities like Jesus and see what happens. You will be told to leave or that you are crazy. If you have abilities, keep them to yourself. That's my advise.

This is my first time here. Although Heroes is for entertainment purposes, and so is this blog, God should be discussed anywhere, including this site. He gives all of us the ability to use our minds and our limbs to type (or to use voice activation for those who can't use their limbs). Of course He gives us the free will to type whatever we want as well. So you either make the choice to glorify Him no matter what or you choose to ignore Him. So Cevyn, I say post what you like concerning God. Afterall, He deserves that much from all of us who are still alive.

HEAR HEAR!!! Good point to Link. If you want to talk religion and God, GO TO church. If you want to talk Heroes, stay here. I'm sure there's some other chat boards out there to keep Glucose and Cevyn happy with that subject. This is a place for heroes and like minded folks!!! Let's keep it that way please. LOL
So back to Heroes, I was re watching the past episodes, The scar thing got me confused. Future Hiro says that Peter looks different without a scar. That means he's only known peter with a scar. Scars don't form that quickly,so....does that mean they don't meet each other while saving the cheerleader? I think that Future Hiro’s message is cryptic to a point of genius. I don’t think Hiro and Peter are destined to meet with the cheerleader just yet. Message tells Hiro that they have to go save the cheerleader, this forces Hiro to meet up with Peter in New York, but a route through Texas. This then forces Hiro to face saving this girl and some how connects with radioactive man in texas. Now radio active man has to be linked to that explosion in New York. SO I think Peter is gonna end up saving the cheerleader by himself and future Hiro just put events into place that’d force present Hiro to save new York by placing himself in Texas. That way future Hiro end up saving a lot of people with one simple message without revealing too much …. Hmmmm THat hiro is a genius i tell ya!!

Cevyn, Glucose... just watch the bloody show and enjoy it. No one cares if you have powers or not, especially on the internet. So discuss something about the show instead of trying to horde some attention from this...

Sean Bean is not in fact Sylar, even though his IMDB says so, it is that quinto guy. If you go to eonline.kristen there is something there she has the info. I guess it's possible that he was cast at one time, but apparently they are going in a differnt direction.

I agree that this is not the place for this sort of talk. I assume you are talking about spiritual gifts. There is a movie that I once saw called "Decieved". One character is a girl who is telekinetic and each time she uses her abilities to a certain degree, it results in the unfortunate death of somebody around her. I know the research of which you speak, I feel that people should use spiritual gifts to glorify God and further the work that he's given us to do. Although I prefer not to e-mail, I'll still be around this board here and there. Then again, if somebody does come to God through reading these messages, then this might be the place for this sort of talk.

FIRST: imdb says that Sean is Sylar, not Zach.
SECOND: Here's my idea. Because the waitress is the catalyst for Hiro to attempt to go back in time to save her, then the murder needs to be staged in order for Hiro to do it again. Not negating anything that has happened in previous episodes.
Perhaps at the poker game the guys were either going to kill Hiro and Ando, and future Hiro comes and slashes them all with his sword weilding ability that he's been working on.
Yeah, the original rift may be taking place because of this, or super memory waitress girl has read all about it and told Hiro. She is probably the one who helps him with his english.

MR. XXX, the know it all… about your so called list….
Radioactive man = pyro (pyro controls fire, doesn’t make it—it should be closer to Marvel comic’s Sunfire)
Peter = Rogue (Rogue needs to touch to absorb, peter doesn’t)
Nathan = superman (you’re kidding right??? He lacks many of super man’s powers. Lot’s of heroes fly)
Micah dad = kittie (I guess Mr. XXX saw one x-men movie)
Niki = Phoenix (Phoenix?? Really??? Where’s the telekinetic ability? The fiery bird silhouette??)
Claire = Wolverine (no claws, no bad hair day, no adamantium claws)
Painter = that’s a new one (spidey sense) (spidey sense???? Wow…kind of a stretch to match there. Try Destiny from marvel comics)
Cop = Prof. Xavier (Cop has nothing on Xavier, buddy)
Hiro = Night Crawler or Marty McFly (night crawler, marty??? Ok MR XXX definitely doesn’t know super heroes. LOL)
Mohinder = jubilee useless character...... and gay (I wouldn’t throw out useless and gay at people, Mr. XXX. Looks more like you’re looking at a mirror and describing yourself. LOL)
Don't you hate it when someone like MR. XXX try and post something they THINK is intelligent criticism? He sure seem to miss the whole point of the show. He just proved how ignorant he is about what he’s trying to criticize.
Normal people forced to handle the most unusual situations. It’s about Fate, destiny, responsibility, confusion, fear. About people being handed something unusual and being able to handle it or not. It’s not just about powers. It’s about life, ability and what you would do with something that is given to you and if they can handle it.
Sad thing is that MR XXX can’t see is that the powers our heroes have can be traced to many abilities normal people have but is exaggerated to superhuman levels. Healing, creating heat and radioactivity, molecular manipulation of one’s being, reading people’s thoughts, ability to learn other’s abilities just by spending time with them, yes even space and time manipulation. WE all do these things every single day if you think about it. Heroes just able to do it about one million times greater than we can.
I agree with Lamcro, MR. XXX should go ahead and watch a no brainer of an action show set at a pre-school level since Heroes is definitely beyond his comprehension. Unfortunately he’ll probably keep on watching and criticizing, thinking he can convince people that he gets it. LOL. Sad thing is, as much as he thinks the show is not original and “sux”, he’ll probably will still keep on watching it until the end, since he knows he’ll regret the fact of missing something when people talk about the show on the streets the next day.
As for Hiro…YOU GO BOY!!! You do what you have to do and heck with the time and space continuum. Do the right thing!! WE all have your six covered. Just say when and we’ll be there to back you up.! Say hi to that cute girl for me too. LOL

To Glucose, first I'd like to apologize for misspelling your name, should have taken more time to check. Secondly, I understand what you are saying. You are 100% correct in that regard, however it is not abilities that I am after, I already have them. I am looking for others who have them as well and who are lost as to why. This is not something new to me that has just started a few days ago. My entire life has been affected by it. It has had such an impact on me that I strayed from God because of it. I spent most of my youth searching for answers and suffered greatly believing something was wrong with me. There is nothing wrong with me, God made all of us as we should be to do his bidding. He leaves the decision to us wether or not to do it the hard way or the easy way. Ignoring your calling does not make it go away.
Concerning my lifes mission, I will attempt to clarify. I would rather do this privately but I will put something here anyway. I believe that there are no coincedences and God has a definite plan for everything. We are all tools for him to use as he wishes. The Bible speaks of a condition called Dead Faith. It is when someone speaks as if they believe in God. They read his word and praise his name, they curse the devil and spit on his name but in there daily lives they do nothing to show others that belief.
The information that I have to share has nothing to do with "gifts" at all. It is just my experience that it is only "Special" people who are able to grasp the magnitude and complexity of the situation we are all in. There's no mind reading or levitating or non of that. I would love to share more with you but only through E-mail. I've rambled far too much and this really isn't the place for it. Thank you Glucose for the concern that you have shown, and do not think that I disregard your advice. I fully understand the dangers that lay for those searching. Myself having fallen in a few. I just wish to do my part to keep others from having to suffer unnecessarely. You seem to have come to terms with your experiences and that is kewl, but everyone is not as fortunate as you or I. There are many people in crazy suites due to inability to comprehend and that is what I hope to avoid!
You have my E-mail feel free and use it, I do wish to continue this talk.
Hiro, please forgive me for using so much time and space in your place. My mission is similar to yours, I hope you understand...
To all the fans of the show, my apologies as well I know you are not here to listen to me... to all those who have questions, or comments, please E-mail me and not post here. My address is at the end of my first post!

Dear Mr. XXX:
Originality comes from the character itself, not his or her powers. I'd say that any power the creators of "Heroes" try to grant a character has already been used in comic books.
So please, go see "Desperate Housewives" and let us enjoy the show.
Cheers.

Cevyn, allow me to go a little LotR, you are standing on the blade of a knife, stray but a little and many will get hurt. It's alright to be a fan, but the story is mostly the same as other unfortunate tales. I too choose my words and the weight of them. You mentioned psychics and the like. Hold fast to the Bible, and it's advice concerning them, "Don't!" God made a provision to his people not to go after what they say because he knew that they were the stepping stone into a deeper pit whose price was their destroyed souls. I lost a friend to this by the name of Dawn. I would not have the space nor time to tell you of what exactly happened for I do not know. You can be a fan of Heroes, but God's will has nothing to do with it. He wants to see people helped, lives saved, and the like, not his children go after "abilties" that so often lead to a fate worse than The Machine in the Pit of Dispair.

Hi,
Just a few comments. As for Hiro, it is strange that Hiro did not reappear immediately because what is done is done. The past is behind, Ando should not have noticed anything. The show won't utilize the separate timeline theory since Hiro immediately (presumably) appeared on the photo with Charlie. The only answers are that time is ticking in the present even if Hiro is away in the past or he simply reappeared somewhere else in the present.
Sylar: wonder what powers did the family of the girl that Matt saved have. Or was it the girl that he was after? Maybe she boosts the powers our heroes have, since that was the first time Matt heard other people's thoughts.
Isaac: of course he can paint without drugs, its just his mind that makes he think that he is only capable of doing it while being high.
Lil'boy: similar to Hiro. Can travel in time but only backwards (maybe not only) and cannot interfere but can take along others to observe. He is not Mohinder.

1: We know Peter gets his scar from sylar, which Sylar will try to take Peters head just like the rest. We can know this from Hiro's future self coming to present day and saying "You look different with out your scar."
2: Peter messed up on one thing, he told Hiro, save the cheerleader, save the world. But Future Hiro told Peter to tell present Hiro where they would meet. He did not. Thus Hiro didnt know he was needed in Present time.
3: Everything Hiro does in the past can do one of two things:
A: Hiro changes the past, like he has, and breaks time in to two different time lines, and thus he will never be able to return to this time line.
B: Hiro changes the past, like we know he has, and thus everything around Aundo will change. Aundo is the control of this test, he and Hiro are the only one's who know of Time Travel Hiro, and thus when he changes the past,Aundo will be the only one who knows of the event, and thus everything will instantly change around him.
As for Sylar watching Hiro like a hawk, this is wrong, he was watching the waitress, and I think the thing that threw Sylar off was when Hiro said to the Waitress, "My special power I have, is to teach Japanese." Thus Sylar had no means to think Hiro had a special power besides being a flirt.
Peter goes to save the cheerleader, but everything that Hiro does in the past, will change the events of present day. Thus Future Hiro will know instantly everything that Past Hiro is doing, and will know that Past him will not be there to help again, and thus Future him could come back to the past once again, to save the cheerleader with Present Peter. Its confusing but logical.

I believe Iyer SANJOG is a special kid whose power is the ability to transmit messages to people via their dreams. He also seems to be able to see events in the past as if he were standing there. Not sure if he's alive or dead at the moment, but I'd bet that he's alive. He's probably locked up somewhere and being overprescribed with Ritalin because some western doctor thinks he has ADHD (or just really good insurance.) And yes, Hiro is one of my favorite characters too because of his naivete (spelling?) and his earnest desire to do the right thing according to his idealized view of what heroes are supposed to do.

SYLAR is a German surname.
hmmm... blonde hair, blue eyed, german? I think there's a good chance he is Claire's biological father. So why would he be wanting to kill her? Could it be that he is just trying to locate his kidnapped daughter? ...and the only reason he killed the others was because they weren't her. He has mental problems, I'll give you that, but I really think he is misunderstood.
I think Claire's adoptive father has been "messing" with Claire-Bear and using the Hatian to erase the memories (easy to do, since she heals so quickly). He's also been "Jump-starting evolution" with the others in order to keep her location hidden from Sylar.

I know what you're doing, Hiro.
I know that Charlie doesn't really have powers and that you used her as bait for Syler in order to keep him away from you and the cheerleader. But, where did you go after that?
Let's see... you went back to the previous day to convince her not to come to work... you realize she already knows who you are and then you see the birthday photo with you in it. You know that there is some reason for you to be with Charlie for such a long period of time. You explain to her about the next day, leaving out the part where she dies (you'll come back and take care of that later) and then you're headed back another six or seven months to learn about your destiny.
I assume that you learn Charlie has no powers, spend a lot of time jumping around through time and space, then teach her the Japanese and other trivia in order to convince Syler she's the one with powers that he's been tracking.
It's too bad, 'cause she was really sweet. But you can't risk your life or the cheerleader's until you know how to stop him. Good luck!

Hiro is the man!
I won't get into all my issues with time travel, because it's too late at night for me to go crazy, but yeah, Sean Bean as Sylar is just a rumour. I WISH he were playing Sylar!
*One little time-travel thing* I don't think they'd be messing around with alternate timelines on this show. That gets way too mind-bending, and there's already enough going on without our having to figure out what's going on with Hiro and multiple universes. Also, if Hiro skewed off into an alternate timeline, he wouldn't be in the b-day picture in this timeline, would he?
At any rate, it looks like Heroes is following the Back to the Future school of time travel rather than the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy school. i.e., Hiro can go back and change the present. If time travel is possible (in real life....), I think this is the least plausible theory, but it's the most popular.
The reason why he didn't come straight back to the diner could be that he teleported somewhere else when he came back to the present, and it's taking him a little while to find Ando. (This is me just making stuff up, btw.) Or, you know, it could just be for effect. Because it's a tv show XD.
Okay that turned out to be a long time-travel thing. Sorry!

To everyone saying that the "soccer kid" is Mohinder's sister or Mohinder, remember that there was a file with this kid in it. We know the kid's name SANJOG, Iyer. This was on the file that was locked in the bottom drawer. To me this name is too close to Sylar to ignore, plus the fact that the file was locked in the bottom drawer gives me the feeling that it could be Sylar as a young boy. If not that then this kid could have some ties to the family. From the file you can also see that this kid's power has something to do with dreams. This is on two newspaper articles in the file.

Dear Hiro,
That was a brave thing you did to go back in time to save the waitress. Do everything you can, but if you have no way to save her, you must not dwell and lose your mind. Mission 10: Find one who dreams great dreams. 'Where once we slept now we can only dream.'
'Where once we slept now we can only dream.'
My thoughts based on the: "Seven Minutes to Midnight" episode.
The sleeping prophet, is this a hard belief to ponder. Have you seen things with the mind's eye dreaming? That the awakened state cannot interpret? And what about those dreams that come true, or occur over and over? Do they have any meaning or sense at all? In the show we saw a glympse of one who sleeps and lives within the dream state. Many have said they can dreamwalk. There's even books on the subject. Astral Projection, I believe. Do these things have a meaning, benign or virtuous? You see several commercials now for medical sleep aids. Is this a coincidence thatso many of us cannot sleep at night? Can we affect the outside world from within the dream state? Some believe it is possible. What about the experiences we encounter while still asleep, some have done some amazing things while still asleep? What about Oneiromancy [ 1 ] [ 2 ] ? Others claim to be able to control it in Transcendental Meditation [ 1 ] [ 2 ]; can this be acheived? Some believe that they can control their dreams, dream walk, lucid dream. [ 1 ] Some claim to be able to protect themselves from dream walkers in dream defense. [ 1 ]. Come, sit down. Tell me why it is that you cannot sleep. Tell me what it is that you dream. Tell me what you believe about this phenomenon. http://therealheroes.blogspot.com/

Hero's is an awesome show! The fact as Mohinder's father pointed out in his studies is very true there are people out there with many different abilities. Some people can see the future as well as the past, some people can control others thoughts, these are fantastic powers and could help or hinder the planet as well as her children! But one of the greatest gifts/powers is the ability to love and be loved in return! That's all from the Tiger's Den! Be Awesome to One Another & Party On Dudes!

I think Sylar is Nathan Petrelli, not Peter. 1) When he flew and did not act particularly surprised, and he could control the landing-- not the first time he'd done that. 2) He walked away from the car wreck that put his wife in a wheel chair. 3) The latest TV ad has Nathan throwing black paint to cover up the picture that shows where and when to meet to save the cheerleader-- after only he and Simone have seen it, and she looks like she's struggling to stop him. 4) We already know he's not exactly the most moral person-- he's taking illegal campaign funds from a mobster.
The only other person that I could think of Sylar being is Linderman, but we haven't seen him yet. Yep, still think it's Nathan. Watch out, Hiro!

A few theories:
1. The waitress killer was Sylar. He gets his powers by stealing brains from heroes. (I thought he was eating them, perhaps I got the idea from reading the Wild Cards novels.) So far we see he's got telekinesis, some kind of mind control, isn't killed by bullets and can climb walls.
2. Sylar's next stop is Odessa (Claire's hometown) which is just down the road from Midland where the waitress was killed.
3. The meaning of "save the cheerleader save the world" is that if Sylar is able to get Claire's brain he'll get her healing powers, which would make him even more difficult to stop.
4. The nuclear explosion seen at the end of episode 2 is caused by the radioactive guy being attacked by Sylar.
5. Hiro will be back in time to help save Claire. Why else would he be 50 miles away from her town?
6. Claire's dad isn't really "the face of evil." He's more like Dirty Harry, trying to do the right thing but not afraid to step on some toes in the process. One reason: When Nathan hit Claire's dad and ran, he had a gun and could have shot Nathan, but instead said "That was unnecessary."
7. Simone has some kind of power she has not realized yet because:
A. There appears to be a genetic link so far to some of the powers -- the Petrelli brothers, Nikki and her husband and their son, etc. Simone's father apparently had some kind of power that he exhibited before he died. (Astral cruising?) So maybe Simone is special too...
B. Notice how on the Heroes main page all the people have known powers except Simone and Mohinder (who may have powers if you count his funky dreams.)
8. The soccer kid is Mohinder's sister who is communicating to him from beyond the grave. Or perhaps Mohinder has discovered his own power -- he can see the past just as Isaac sees the future.
9. Nathan Petrelli isn't going to win the election and an explosion won't happen in New York.
I'm really enjoying this show and can't wait to find out how many of my theories are wrong!

I believe Sylar knows what every heroes power is.So if you watched the last episode,he was watching Hiro intently, like a hawk.So he kills the waitress to send Hiro back in time, thwarting any possible help Hiro can give to Claire.
The alogirithm that Chandra was working, could he have finished it and that is how Sylar knows how to find them? And if so does he know Peter exists and what his power is?Could be interesting for Sylar when Pete uses his own power on him.

what if hiro was supposed to go that far back to meet the waitress.....now hear me out....if she has the ability the memorize any books she reads then if he confides in her then she will "read" all the books on time theory, real or si-fi. then she could help him learn to control his powers better.......and to top all that he went forther than the original 6 weeks from the start of the series so that it gives hiro and waitress love-intrest chance to get together and both practice powers

Peter is most definitely NOT Sylar. He is a power mimic and would prove very useful in getting Isaac's paintings done while saving him from his addiction. I don't think Peter needs the heroin to see the visions. He just needs to be in Isaac's presence and tap into his power.
Hiro had the right idea but note that the cops were still cleaning up a murder after Hiro's picture appeared. It would seem that his attempt to save her life only managed to make things more complicated. But evidently he still has a future, because he did come back to talk to Peter. Perhaps this accidental thing where he goes back too far is part of his training and he has to learn not to mess with fate any more than necessary.

For those saying Sean Bean is playing Sylar, that is not true. Zach Quinto is playing Sylar and has already appeared in the episode "Seven Minutes to Midnight". Sorry guys, even Sean Bean says he is not doign the role.

Was this entry translated from Japanese into English using Yamagoto's software? If so, this software must be really great. None of that crazy end result like the translation sites I've used before.
I'd definitely want a blog like that, to meet friends in other places. Can't wait to see this released to the public.

Time travel is way too complicated to really understand. Just trust that since this is a television show the time travel thing will not get too complicated. I doubt Hiro will ever go to another dimension or Hiro will get killed any time soon (remember the future him came back to talk to Peter), or that the impacts that Hiro's time traveling has will be consistent.

Sorry about the double post... I'm on my laptop and the stupid thing clicked Post before I was done....... Anyway.....
Is the soccer kid (Sanjog Iyer played by Javin Reid) dead or alive? How is he related to Mohinder and Chandra? I don't believe he has any relation to Sylar.
There's a lot of speculation about what Sylar does with the brains, but I want something conclusive... something definite. Anyway, I'll just have to wait like the rest of you!

Sylar's real name is Paul Sylar. He is played by British actor Sean Bean (Alec Trevelyan of GoldenEye fame).
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0813715/fullcredits
Peter can't be Sylar... they are cast by two completely different people!
I don't think it is likely that the soccer kid is patient zero... I believe that title was given to Sylar, who is caucasian.
What we saw Hiro do in episode 8 is before Hiro went back 5-6 months. Therefore, he did not give her the Japanese book because she had it before he traveled back in time. The picture on the wall only changed after we saw him leave.
Is the soccer kid alive or dead? How is
Anyway, the show is entertaining, and I hope this next episode answers more questions than it raises!!

Hmm, this is very confusing. My take on the whole space-time continuum thing is that that past is cemented, and the future is not, But sinc ehte past is cemented, that means all attempts to change the past is cemented in the future. So.... Sorry Hiro, you can't save her!
Just PWNXXZORT the guy who killed her. My moneys on the dude that was in the courner that radiated creepyness.

i believe the japanese book the waitress recieved on her birthday was from hiro, and that she was just acting like it was there first meeting. not sure as to why she would let herself get killed, but obviously something wasn't going according to plan, which caused his delay in returning. time travel can be so tricky.

Hey DARB the SREM:
"if hiro and ando are in vegas and heading to new york .. why are they in texas ..
nevada .. west coastish"
No, Las Vegas is in the South West. You're closer to Flagstaff, AZ than you are to LA.
If you want to head to the East Coast from Vegas, your best bet is to take Hwy 93 SE to Interstate 40 East. This runs you right through the Texas panhandle.
Still, Midland TX, where the diner is, is South of where you'd normally cross TX heading East. I guess destiny is dragging them South, eh?

I have two pieces of advice for you, Hiro. You have created a time loop, and these can be very destabilizing. Fortunately, things will get better. Remember to help people in whatever timeline you are in. All people deserve your help.
HIRO! What is done is done. I understand your desire to help people and make up for your previous mistakes, but you cannot change the past. You have to accept your failures and let them guide you into being a better hero.

I heard it was great this week, but here I am -- and it's not! Did it go back in time too???
|
|
|

OK, I love this show, too. Watch it with baited breath each week. But I hate to burst everyone's bubble...but I don't think this will be solved next week. We're probably going to see what's happening with the Petrellis or Micah and his dad and mom. You notice that none of them were in last night's episode? We'll probably have to wait two weeks to find out. The preview for next week didn't show Hiro or the waitress...unfortunatley, cuz I want to know what happened too!

Ok, am I missing something or is it that my computer has just gone haywire again? It does that every now and again, but serious question: What happened to all the other blog postings? Like the mudslide one or the directions or something? Hey wait, is it because Hiro went back so far that all the blogs were erased? (**Thinks out loud**) Wait, his phone blogs can't be erased just from time travel. They weren't erased in the past episodes where Hiro was traveling through time. Man, now I'm confused. Uh oh, gotta type this fast before my computer crashes again. I need a Dell, and a new spacebar and h key.
Good luck with saving the waitress dude, because luck is what you're gonna need. She died pretty brutally, and we'd all hate to see the same thing happen to you and her again. But I can totally see you two hooking up in the future. Grrr I keep forgetting her name. Oh no, I got like 30 seconds left on this piece of junk I call technology. **Kicks computer** Note to self: MUST GET ANOTHER ONE!

like akuma said, one little thing can change everything.
Even though Hiro liked the waitress, he shouldn't have gone back, if I'm correct, he just screwed everything up, because (again) like Akuma said, Syler only kills about every week, and with clares homecoming comeing up, he'll kill her instead...
demo Hiro could just fail in his efforts, and the girl could still get killed with Hiro watching, then Syler must really want to kill claire, she might be a threat to him....or something like that...
Because, in the painting, Syler was watching Claire dying...and the thing says 'save the cheerleader, save the world' somehow claire, and all the rest of the people hes killed, stand in the way of Sylers world destruction.
and from my readings of other blogs my thoughts are just as far fetched as the rest...mwahahahaha!
By the way Hiro is sooooo cute! I almost cried when he got punched...and I DID cry when he liked the waitress. He better be ok and not stuck in some other deminsion of time or just doesnt want to come back, demo then again, he knows he's got a job to do, so he shouldn't be held up by another chick....demo oh w/e Gackt is blareing in my ear, stupid Gackt...i love him...and Hiro!

Great idea to throw this blog wipe in to the mix! What a mindf***! This next episode will be critical to the success of the show. Playing with time can be tricky. If the writers have blown it and create logic paradoxes the show will jump the shark. Getting this all to work will be quite the trapeze act.
Pointless to guess what will happen with Hiro. We'll find out in six days. Some people have mentioned various sightings of THE SYMBOL. Here's where I've seen it:
The Hatian memory wiper has it on an amulet.
Claire has it written in felt marker on the page edge of her geometry book.
Nikki/Jessica has the tat of it when she's in evil killer mode. (this is also painted by Mendez)
It is on the cover of Dr. Saresh's book.
It appears in Dr. Saresh's algorithm.
Any more to list?

Who says he went back too far? There IS evidence for it but nothing proven. What if Hiro makes some discovery about Sylar while in the past (remember his reason of going back in the first place was to stop what Sylar is doing)? What if Hiro stays in whatever time line he is in only to return to our (the show's) time line sporadically, like when a future him gave the message of "Save the Cheerleader, Save the world"??? One thing is definately for certain: Hiro's character is going to be one of the most integral members of the story line! I can't wait to see more! By the way, THE COMMERCIAL TIME IS AGGRAVATION TO THE NTH DEGREE! To save my aggrivation, I tape the show so that I can fast forward through the commercials later! I refuse to give that much attention to advertisement. I BEG more people to comment on this!

i've read here that a few people think that peter is sylar - you're so wrong people!! i get a major mojo feeling that claires real dad is sylar - couple of reasons, for one she has the same regenerative powers. 2. (my most convincing theory)her adoptive dad tells isaac how his "company" has been tracking special people for many years and some come easily like him with no trouble others don't and 15ish years ago someone didn't, a woman died and a baby was left behind - claire. it's fair to say sylar has been active for a while as his seemingly many powers are well advanced.
the thing with the brains is intriguing as though he has simlar powers to peters, he obviously needs them for the extra abilities he can gain but we'll have to wait to find out exactly why.
the tattoo on nikki's back is interesting too, the same design appears on mohinders laptop and as someone pointed out his fathers journal. when hiro telports to new york and goes to isaacs apartment there are also numerous paintings of the same motif. i think it might be something to do with the whole genisis thing and possibly denotes strands in a DNA strain????????
Finally, Hiro... going back 6 months.. oops. good chance to learn english though and maybe pick up a sword and a lady friend ;) remember though - the clock in san dimas is always ticking (Rufus - bill and ted)
love the show, it's like a comic book come to life

In response to birdiewd's theory that Peter is Sylar. That is definately not true, unless Peter's physiology changes drastically. In the preview for next week there is a very clear view of Sylar's face while he is struggling with Claire. The baseball cap and the hair seen in the diner are exactly the same. He has a very large nose, slightly overweight and is darker skinned. DEFINATELY not Peter Petrelli.
In reponse to how far Hiro went back, if you review the scene with the waitress, she clearly says that her birthday was six months ago. Hiro is in the picture with her on her birthday so he went back AT LEAST six months. They also gave us a very clear as to who Sylar is. Like other people has stated. The kid in the hidden folder was syler: SANJOG, Iyer. There are clues everywhere to all the questions. In the first episode, the paintings show scenes from episodes to come. The painter throws paint over paintings that show Claires father in a hallway, the scene in this past episode where the radioactive guy boils water in a cup as well as a few more in the background. The files Suresh finds in the first episode cover the Radioactive guy as well, there is an article about radiation burns found on the arm of a woman and the file has it marked as the same guy.
There are also pictures from the wall in Sylar's apartment.

Scott,
You say that Sylar's watch reads 11:53. That caused me to remember the watch on the wrist of Mohinder's father's killer. So, I it looks like Sylar killed Mohinder's father, but maybe I should have already known that, since we know that they knew each other. Does any one remember if there was any mention of Mohinder's father missing his brain?

I just realized where the title of the Episode came from - 7 minutes to midnight. When they showed Sylar pulling the coffee mug toward himself in the diner, his watch was broken and the time on it was 11:53. I have no idea what that would mean, but it is more information on something.

My take on Peter's powers is that he is a mimic, when he is close proximity to someone with abilities he can duplicate their powers. This is how he was able to fly and how he was able to paint the future.
Look for him to meet Sylar who is the ultimate patient zero, who has multiple powers. Healing, flight, TK, and more (freezing). Then we will see if Peter can mimic multiple powers or only one at a time. We see in the pictures him using a TK ability.

I think at that point when the picture changed to Hiro being in it, the whole event in the diner changed. It could be that..
1) His friend is just waiting for Hiro to come out of the restroom.
2) His friend went to the diner alone. Hiro ends up in NY.
3) And the worst case..Hiro is the one with his brain gone.

Okay...so hiro went back in time to save the waitress...I think that this will be the first RIFT that Hiro will cause....(remember when Future Hiro comes to Peter on the subway and mentions he could cause a rift?) As to the outcome of the waitress...I am not sure. My guess would be that he saves her, but I think the cost of her life will be high.
Also, I think in the next episode...Peter gets to Claire and I assume that whatever was SUPPOSED to happen to Claire will happen to Peter INSTEAD. And he can use Claire's powers to heal himself, but whatever Slyar does to him will leave him with the SCAR (Hiro mentions Peter having a scar on the subway).
I do not know what to think about the boy with the soccer ball. (That Mohinder sees) Could he be Sylar?
I am wondering what he has to reveal...I'll bet he sheds a light on Mohinder's Father's work.

Obviously, I don't get the sci-fi channel, but same point, you can make a hobby of figuring out why the writers aren't making it plausible in the mechanics of space, time, paradoxes, and the like, or just enjoy the show without obsessing about the details. Think of it as abstract art for reality, they can do whatever they want with it because they write it that way. Anyway, even if they are the sci-fi channel, they don't change the episodes to be more scientific. With all the twists and turns so far, any guess about plot developments are likely to be wrong because that's what they expect us to think. I like my sci-fi, and my advice to Hiro aobut the paradox is that of Cptn Janeway and just avoid them all-together. I think, I'll go read J.R.R Tolkien's The Hobbit if we have it just to amuse myself and not think about the Heroes plot, maybe it'll just come to me.

Why oh why (?!?!) do people insist that Sylar is eating brains? There are different kinds of hunger, you know. Hunger for knowledge, hunger for sustenance (either physical or emotional), hunger for power... If Sylar was eating the brains why would he still have them in jars in his apartment? It seems like he's more of a Highlander kind of guy going along thinking that there can only be one and that once the rest are gone he'll have domination over the little people. Just remember: This isn't Heroes of the Dead.

The "Rift" in time is like another parallel. Time travel is way too complicated for this. Like I said earlier, Hiro's friend is stuck in a "rift" or echo of time. That time flow still exists but another one is being created with changes.
Time has forked. Like someone said earlier, that's the first rift he's created. The 2nd was with Peter Patrelli.
The further back in time anyone goes, teh more sensitive the changes are.
This better be written good.

I think Hiro is making a big mistake by going back to save the waitress. Sylar needs to feed but not every day -- probably about once a week or so. By saving the waitress, Hiro will/has force(d) Sylar to find a new foodsource -- namely, Claire. Claire's death happens in Texas just a day after the waitress gets killed by Sylar.
Actions, no matter how noble, have unintended consequences.

has anyone noticed the similarity in the "tatoo" on Niki's shoulder and the symbol on Chandra Suresh's book cover?

I will go one further on the Sylar theory...
Sylar is Peter Petrelli. At some point in the far future, Peter gets a hold of Hiro's power, possibly by cutting off the top of his head with his own blade and eating his brain. Then he can go back and do whatever he wants. This will include going to the time that Hiro just went to (trying to save the waitress) and giving him some kind of a threat, like mentioned below about killing his friend. The most important thing Peter does with this power is going back in time and eating the brain of Patient Zero (the kid with the soccer ball) and assuming a variation of his name, hence Sylar.
This is just a theory but one I have been entertianing for a bit (except for how he got the name Sylar, this past episode gave me that).
Anybody have any other ideas?

Ok some key things that I have noticed this past episode about hiro.
He was in the picture with the girl on her birthday and earlier when they enter the diner she was in the picture all by herself.
So he does find her and befriends her and most likely starts to date her. I think he doesn't want to scare her and doesn't tell her and tries to wait to the last day to make his move but something comes up.
Maybe he gets kidnapped by HRG and can't tell her not to go to work that day.
Maybe he runs across a crowd or group of people thats needs saving and he makes a choice one life for many.
Maybe Hiro gets into trouble somehow and goes to jail and she tries to work and get money to get him out lol!
Or maybe he tells her and she chooses that if this is her fate and destiny then this is what god wanted to happen and that we shouldn't change it for she isn't important as Hiro saving the whole world.(sacrafice)
She does seem like someone who would sacrafice herself purposely for a greater cause of hiro finding out who killed her and stopping him.
Maybe he learns how to fight and him and sylar go at it but the girl still dies.
Im not sure but I think since the police is still there and Ando was still pacing himself that Hiro got held up somehow and couldn't prevent her for going to work that day which in the end.
That or he realized the ripple effect he caused was so great that he had to let things play out and not change time.
One thing we do know is that his english gets better cause of this.
That his understanding of his powers grow.
That he finally gets a lady in his life. ^_^
And that she knew words not in the book cause maybe she knew Hiro outside of that restraunt and pretended that it was a first meeting to enjoy her last time being with him.
If thats the case then she choose to accept her death for something greater.
I can't wait to see Hiro make your choices wisely and keep training.

Dear Hiro,
I want to give you a word of advice. By going back in time and stoping Slyer from killing that poor girl, thing might now change with you knowing it. One can not know how the flap of a butterfiles wings will affect a storm. You might of learned this already. Just because she didn't die the day you meet her doesn't mean she didn't die a horrible death a little further down the road.
P.S. Please come back! Ando is going crazy. You guys should of aranged something better than "Count to five" Like a meeting place or something.

When Future Hiro talked to Peter on the train he mentioned risking another time rift. This must be the first rift. This episode showed him disappear and the picture changed, from other scifi shows maybe they are adopting the time rippling effect. He changed the past but the future hasn't caught up with the change yet. Just an idea.

Maybe Hiro learned how tu resurrect her?

Time is a strange thing. As humans we understand it as ongoing in chronological order. We can't even begin to understand how to move through time in reverse. Anyway, hear me out on Hiro.
If Hiro went back in time already, the waitress already knew she was going to die or Hiro realized actually how much he would ruin the fabric of time.
However, that reality also may be an echo of time. If Hiro did go back and save her, he completely left his friend in a future without Hiro since the moment he teleported.
The first idea is more realistic. The waitress already knew she was going to die. That's rough, or Hiro has been interacting with her, and left that part about her dying out.

If you look at time travel in much the same way as it was considered in the "Back to the Future" movies it might make sense. Time continues to flow even as you travel through it. If Hiro went too far into the past and is biding his time to get to the point that the diner girl got killed he is waiting. Only by stopping her killing at that exact point in time will he change the future completely. He has already changed it in small ways, as you can see in the birthday pic. But since The cops are still in the restaurant in the future, he has not yet stopped the murder from taking place.

I agree, I think Hiro's blog just looped itself. Now that indeed is a truely engrossing experience.
Although I agree with much of what Glucose points out, please keep in mind that fact could be embellished by fiction; fiction may have sprinkles of truth; but faith is neither fact nor is it fiction.

I'm in agreement with what people are saying about it being Hiro who gives her (the waitress) the book. Especially on the aspect of what "404notfound" said about her knowing how to say "You're sweet" even though it was never in the book.
Also, I BELIEVE that when the waitress was talking to the sheriff in her first scene she was talking about the trip she had already taken. They asked her how she knew about the word from the crossword puzzle and asked if she learned that on her trip. Or such (I could be HORRIBLY wrong). But, when she spoke to Hiro and Ando "for the first time" she talked about her WANTING Tokyo to be third stop.
Also when it comes to Claire and Mohinder. I believe she used her powers on him when she TOLD him that he was coming back to NY. Even though he left...she never told him NOT to go. She told him that he would be back, and you can tell the pull he has to go back to NY now that he is finding out more about his father's work. He can't let it go...just like she told him.

For those of you who don't have the Entertainment magazine's article on Heroes, know that Hiro went back a few too many weeks into the past. I like the guessing game, but it's edging on ridiculousness. This show can't delve too deep in sciences, it's not on the sci-fi channel. Essentially, this show is the birth of the superhero age, so we can expect to see other vilian's popping up here and then. Cevyn, God's work is good and all, I've even had dreams that came true, but the path you'll be taking people down isn't an innocent one. If you reguard the fiction of Heroes as fact, then do you reguard the fact of the Bible as fiction? Will it only be a matter of time? I do not reguard the writings of Stephen Hawkings anything more than fiction, as he was not there to create time itself and can only guess about it's manipulation with many big words that mean little. There is a big picture, enjoy Heroes, but don't let it rule you or prevent you from helping to paint it.

To all the true "Special" people in the world, rejoice, for our time is almost at hand. Modern society, mostly Western society has put forth an emmense effort to convince the world that things of this nature are not possible or true, but if you look closely at history, you will find the opposite to be true. Some of these gifts even have scientific names. Telepathy, telekenisis, and pyrokenisis, are just a few. Everyone has seen at least one psychic friends commercial, and most people laugh at the idea. If it is so untrue, why do so many police departments utilize psychics to solve cases for them. Furthermore, people have been convicted and sent to prison based on testimonies given by psychics in court. Granted, some of the abilities of the characters in the show are exaggerated way out there, but it would be foolish to discredit it all as fantasy!
It is because I believe myself to be special that I write this. Throughout the course of my life, I have had numerous psychic experiences as well as many visions of future events that have actually transpired. The things have happened so much that my friends and family all acknowledge it and they all call me for advice and stuff. I have read many books and spoken to many people. I've studied numerous faiths and belief systems looking for answers and I came to the same conclussion as the people in the show.
Because it is not everyone experiencinig these things, there has to be a reason. it is my firm belief that we are here to do Gods work. To me, the cheerleader represents all of Gods children that are normal. The Devil has them bound and it is our job to help as many as we could before the end. I've spent the last 5 years of my life piecing together this puzzle and so far, I've made great progress. I know who the true Sylar is but I know not what he has planned other then controlling all of us. Sylar is not an individual as in the show but a group of individuals. Like the show, time is running out and there is still much work to be done. I am going to post my email address so that others like me can contact me so we can discuss this further. My address is only open to those who are "Special" and understand what it is I am saying. There are a few traits I find common in all the "Special" people I've met thus far and I will test all who contact me for these traits. Once you pass the test I will then, and only then, reviel more. As for everyone else, keep your mind open and research that wich interests you to the fullest extent possible and get better in tune with your spirit. It is the key to unlocking your own "Special" abilities! Enjoy the show! (7)

seems to me Hiro would be at quite a disadvantage in a confrontation with Sylar. Hopefully, for his safety, he did go back too far. Sylar probably killed the girl to bait Hiro. He would want to kill Hiro too, if the detective is right.
But the picture behind implies that Hiro went back too far and met this girl in the past. And since this has now changed time, in the next show he and the girl will probably walk into the diner after their tenth date.

Hiro goes too far back--as for how far, exactly, you need only look to the title of an upcoming episode.
He's the one who gives Charlie the Japanese book, and teaches her how to say that "you're sweet" (hence why she knows it when it's not even in the book). This may also be the point at which he learns to speak better English.
The blog says that the Yamagato software is "coming soon" because we are in the past before Hiro begins his blog, and before the software he uses to translate it even exists.
Some of this seems contradictory, but given how irrespective the show seems to be of conventional time travel pseudo-theory, it wouldn't be surprising if any explanations are simply hand-waved away.

When I wake I am in the real world again, and I wonder if I am watching myself.
I saw a Japanese guy running down the street with a comic book near Times Square - I wonder if that was you, Hiro? I saw you in my dream, too.
But teleporting isn't real, is it?
Maybe I'm not real.
Maybe this is just a dream.

What about Mohinder. The girl who took the painter.. she can make people do things that she wants, thats what it seems like. She tried to make mohinder stay but it didn't work. Whats up with his "powers"?

Has anyone thought of the possibility that the Japanese book she referred to getting on her birthday may have been given to her by Hiro. This may mean that he knew he had to do certain things to bring about the future as it was, i.e. he went back to the future and too much had changed, so he tried again. I mean, serriously, how many people in Texas would have given her a book on Japanese sayings?

You are working from an out-dated view of time travel. In the modern models of time, things such as the "grandfather paradox" cannot occur. I suggest you read up on it, a good read that you could probably jump right into without much prep would be Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen Hawking.

I think this is a temporary thing for the blog. When he went to the future and back in episode 1 and 2 they played around with the blog entries to "simulate" blog time warp. So I would think they're trying to do the same.

Oh, it worked alright, time takes a bit change, if you notice the picture on the wall you would've notice that the waiteress who power is memory of anything she see (like the train wreck perhaps that will lead to the cheerleader) was alone with her cake then last shot hiro's in it showing time is changing.

anyways, looks like Hiro can get some buy super computer diner girl. the b-day pic seems proof... LOL
hope that doesnt ruin the time rift...

Whoah... Did the blog just reboot due to messing with the continuum, or are there technical difficulties?
Perhaps technical difficulties arose due to recieving messages from a warped state of the continuum!
And furthermore, has Hiro ever gone over a copy of The Universe in a Nutshell or A Brief History of Time? To do so would give him greater understanding and control of his abilities. Not to mention that Stephen Hawking has appeared on Star Trek, which Hiro appears to be a fan of. Of course, Stephen Hawking himself has declared time travel as Hiro does it to be impossible, although slowing down and speeding up time could simply involve the increasing or decreasing of all energy in the system, however one might do that.

WOW holy crap.... hiro is the man only reasonn to watch the show except for the cheerleaader mmm but seriously BYAH! hiro is the beesknees

|
3 things...
1) people could have seen Hiro "vanish" correct?
Since his buddy remembers what Hiro said to do, it means that everything is basically the same as it was before and hiro just disappeared. Unless, there is a branch off of the space-time continuum which is causing a different "dimension" to be taking place at the same time as the other.
2) everything dealing with time travel has serious repercussions... changing one thing could lead to a whole life being changed, not always for the better. going back to "fix things" will not always make them better.
3) Time travel is an if-y subject, because we honestly don't know much about it. obviously, since all we have are theories and nothing seeming to go the speed of light (except light of course).
There are tons of things dealing with the space-time continuum, possibly having different dimensions with the same things going on except one thing changed is one theory.
I wonder if in any of the episodes the creators will try to explain a theory.
I hope I'm not sounding crazy to any of you. I just like discussing things such as time travel and sci-fi stuff.

time travel doesn't make any sense at all -_- but the ability is still awsomeness. Going back and forward through time to relive the best moment of your life or like correct a wrong desicion you made in the third grade. ITS CRAZY. one thing still confuses me though , do you get younger when you go back in time??

yeah, so he did go back. the picture of him and the waitress proves that.
There were still cops milling around and his friend waiting for him..that scence didn't seem to change. The narration was something to the effect that te end result might not be changeable.
However, Hiro could have not traveled back to the present to the table wiht his friend and stayed in te timeline he went back to and then gone else where, maybe NY, or he might walk into the cafe in the next episode.
I agree, next one should be very good.
Is that kid with the soccer ball syler?

you know this is the best show ever!.. hiro has the best power fo all if he could just control it. i think he went back into time to save the girl, yet i don't think it will work. also time is too short in the show that everything is too short. it is the best show i've ever seen on t.v.! and the cheerleader is sooo hot!...

WELL. he was in the picture with her. so obviously he met her way before the event. possibly told her stuff. however i don't see why he didn't come back unless there was a time rift sort of thing going on. because no matter what happens in the past or future, all he has to do is return to his normal time... aka, he either went back to his normal time but in an alternate timeline (cuz time travel supposedly does that, and it makes sense.. i guess?) OR, he just died. game over. talk about plot twist?

but u didnt have to go all the way back. just to the time when she got murdered. u could have stopped him insted of going all the way back to the day before. but oh well u like her, watever floats ur boat

So he saves her, but something happens with Sylar I assume. Next week ought to be good.

i think i got it. ok so i think u went back to gain her trust n then when the time came u would tell her about ur power and stuff n u woulnt make her go. tiem travel is confusing to if u change the future then ur buddy wouldnt be there anymore waiting for u. itd be different. i think.

Hiro? Come back (the maids at the maid cafe need you, LOL)! Don't go save that stupid girl! She's not worth it!
I can't even understand] her japanese (i know some japanese). T3T So not worth it.
Did you go too far back in time, to before you were in Times Square?
But, what ever you do, don't give up your life to protect her!
