Paris Hilton Goes Green

Every worthy cause has got it's celebrity spokesperson. Refugees have got Angelina. The Global Fund has got Bono and now - like it or not - Green has got Paris Hilton.
On a recent visit to Berlin to promote a sparkling wine that comes in cans, Paris told reporters that she is doing her part. Newsday.com reports:
Paris Hilton is making a personal contribution to protecting the environment."I changed all the light bulbs to energy-safe light bulbs and I'm buying a hybrid car right now," the 26-year-old celebrity heiress said Wednesday.
Hilton said she turns off the lights, doesn't leave the TV on or the water running when she leaves her house.
"Little things that people can do every day to make a huge difference," she said.
I'm glad Paris is going green. It's great to see celebs use their status to get the word out about worthy causes like going green.
The things that Paris mentions can add up to big savings on electric and gas bills, and what I can only imagine to be thousands of dollars in water damage repair every year. Let's hope she adds recycling the cans from her sparkling wine to the list!

if she really wanted to help the environment, she should stop her blatant excessive consumerism.

Please...I get really tired of all this celebrity "green washing"...so many call themselves green but when you look at their lifestyle and the over sized energy guzling homes they live in....not to mention all of Paris's jet setting around the world just to get to Parties....planes consume tons of fuel. Her decadent lifestyle in the Hamptons and all the peolpe out there who own 20,000 square foot homes just to throw lavish wasteful parties in the summer....Celebrities fly private jets from NYC to the Hamptons just to got to a weekend party....Please...they even rent coffee tables for $5,000 a nite at Hamptons clubs to put there purses and drinks on whilc they dance around them....couldn't all that party money be spent on feeding the poor or could you image how much that $5,000 a nite coffee table would pay for housing the homeless or planting trees...etc....Everything we buy comes in useless packaging....do you really think these celebrites care when they buy what ever they want without consideration for anything else then thier own wants....stop putting celebrites up on pedistals for their hypocracy....look at the whole not the gren washing band wagon....Put real defenders of the environment in the spotlight instead.

I think its cool that she went green

Great. As if the Green Movement doesn't have enough troubles getting its message out as it is already.
Paris "going green" is about as helpful as polar bears promoting coal burning energy plants.
