I'm Back
Hey everyone. I have been out of the blogging game for some time, but I'm back. Let's talk some NBA Draft.
With Thursday's news that Ricky Rubio has no interest in playing in Memphis or Oklahoma City, it puts the June 25 Draft completely up in the air. And even though the Clippers have already stated that they're taking Blake Griffin with the first pick, that could simply be a marketing ploy to generate as much interest as possible in order to move the pick. In addition, Rubio really wants to play in L.A., so it's possible the Clippers could trade down in the draft and get Rubio, who is the guy they really want anyway.
The Clippers really hold the key to much of what will happen this offseason. Baron Davis and his mammoth salary probably need to go, and he could even be traded back to Golden State for a reunion with Nellie. In addition, with big men Chris Kaman, Zach Randolph, Marcus Camby and DeAndre Jordan on the roster, the Clippers almost have to move one of them. The Mavericks are probably very interested in Kaman, while Randolph's ridiculous remaining contract may make him nearly impossible to move. Camby's only got one year on his deal left, so he's an attractive piece and probably easily movable.
But the bottom line is that nothing in this draft is set in stone, and while it looks like Griffin should be the first pick, it is far from certain. The Grizzlies and Thunder have needs other than point guard, so they don't need Rubio, but would like to take him because he's considered the second best player in the draft. But there is no doubt both teams will be very scared in taking a risk on him if he's not going to show up. And given the fact that he's still under contract in Spain for two more years, it's no skin off his back to pull out of the draft and stay put. Get ready for a roller coaster ride as teams prepare for the draft on June 25, as this could be one of the most drama-filled NBA summers we've ever seen.

This is going to be very interesting. I get the sense that there are going to be a lot of trades (i.e. if all teams are trying to get what they really need).
I would like to see Rubio go to either the LA Clippers or the Sacramento Kings. In either case he will be with a great club. Minnesota doesn't deserve Rubio and OKC Thunder don't need him.
Finally, I hope Blake Griffin somehow goes to OKC Thunder. That would be the new addition to the playoff eligible teams by the end of next year's season. Can't wait.

Sacramento and the Clips are "great clubs?" Really? And yes, if OKC could land Griffin, wow, look out...

If Rubio ends up in LAC, then MEM will surely be the winner in the upcoming draft. Resolving their PF problem with the greatest answer ever. . .BLAKE GRIFFIN. . .Wow! Now MEM will look like POR or even a bit better. Yikes! Thanks Dr. A!

Let me retract that statement about those teams being great clubs...what I meant to say was that Rubio's talent will greatly enhance either club.
P.S. Dr. A, you really think Tyler Hansborough is really going to go that late in the draft? Just curious as to why?

No, it looks like Hansbrough's stock has really been climbing...now it could be Hawks at 19 or even higher...New Mock coming on Tuesday (I hope)
