Baron & Deron are A-OK
Well that might have been much ado about nothing. Baron Davis and Deron Williams are both said to be only slightly injured. Baron could play on opening night, while Deron will only miss the first week of action. Or, at least that's what we're being told.
Davis is in the clear after being told he didn't need surgery. There's no reason to blame the source out of Boston for this one, as it was probably a very close call. And it seems like more often than not, a report like the one about Baron usually results in a worst-case scenario. He clearly dodged a bullet, and so did his owners. Go ahead and move him back up in your rankings (borderline first-round pick.
Deron's status is still up in the air. He's going to miss at least two weeks, which knocks him out for the first week of the regular season and possibly longer. But any way you slice, at least two weeks is a heckuva lot better than 4-6 weeks and we've restored him to his former spot on the fantasy radar. He's a fast healer, but don't be surprised if he takes a little longer to get back to full strength than the seemingly harmless "one week" of missed games. I'm just sayin'...
