  • Anyone who reads this blog regularly knows I am a big fan of the Disney Channel and its stars. Rather than churning out child actors who turn into trouble makers, party girls or those who need rehab, they've managed to produce a string of successful, clean cut kids. Case in point: Dylan and Cole Sprouse. Talk about your media moguls. These fourteen-year-old twins not only star in their own TV show, "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody", they have a surf/skate/snowboard clothing line for Val Surf and are about to release a series of books through Simon and Schuster.

    I got the chance to meet the boys, last week, when they were filming an episode with special guest, Jaden Smith. Jaden's the son of Will and Jada Smith and made his feature film debut in dad's film, "The Pursuit of Happyness." It turns out he always dreamed of being on "The Suite Life" and when he and his dad appeared on the Today Show last December to talk about the film, Will told Matt about Jaden's wish.


    "The Suite Life's"" executive producer, Irene Dreayer, an incredibly energetic, sweet and warm woman tells me she was at home on the day the Today interview aired. Her phone began ringing off the hook and text messages came in rapidly with everyone from friends to family telling her about Will's declaration. Immediately, Dreayer got on the phone and worked to track down Jaden. You would think it would be easy right? Nope. It took her six months to make it happen.

    The three boys seemed to be having a ton of fun together taping the episode. Our cameras caught them goofing around in between takes like any normal kids would do. When the cameras roll though, it's all business. It's clear how much input the twins have in this show. Due to a miscommunication at the office I was a half-hour late to the set. When I got there the boys came right over and said "Ok. She's here let’s do this." Production stopped and the interview went down.

    My favorite part was when I asked the twins about how much clout they had around the set. Dylan chuckled and said, "If I knew what clout meant I would totally be on top of that but I really don't." Proof he's still just a kid.

    So, how are they able to stay so grounded while others go astray. According to both it's a choice you have to make.

    Dylan: "See that's the thing, that's what people don't understand. Kids do start to do drugs and they get into all that stuff, it's easy to stay out of that. It's like they're doing it so I don't know, for publicity."

    Cole: "It's like really, it's like almost they're looking for it in a sense. They're some things that keep our mind off the pressure, juggling school. We'll play video games and stuff like that, skateboard. And just little things that really keep your mind off what's really happening."

    Just as the show was wrapping up to go to lunch, I saw my favorite gal, Ashley Tisdale. She remembers me, of course, from my three-day extravaganza on the set of "High School Musical 2." Looking adorable in a red dress she came over and gave me a big hug. Unfortunately, she had plans at lunch so I didn't get to drag anymore HSM stuff out of her. I did get a chance to chat with Brenda Song who plays London Tipton. Brenda told me that Ashley was telling her about my blog, which scared me a bit. I thought, "oh now I hope she isn't going to kill me for giving up the details about her boyfriend, Jared Murillo!" (HSM fans affectionately refer to them as Jashley)

Cole and Dylan Sprouse are such grounded kids. They are very popular, but stay out of the spotlight.
I hope they keep up the good work and positive attitude.

Dylan and Cole are both Awesome kids who have managed to stay grounded and sweet through all thier success and thats why fans will always stick with them. I wish them all the best In the future. They really are cool kids.

I met Jada Pinket Smith (jaden's mom) last year, shes so nice and down to earth. shes a really nice lady and i bet her son is just as sweet. i can't wait to see this episode!
