    Buddy's Blog: Larry's Homecoming Dinner

"Hey Larry, would you take the garbage out?"

Welcome home, Larry Birkhead. Judy Birkhead's request to her brother (or was it an order?) signaled a much neededreturn to normalcy for a man who has spent the past 6 months telling the world he was, indeed, the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby, and three months battling in the Bahamian courts to take her home.

The legal wrangling, the relentless media pursuit, it was, at least for now, all behind him. Larry, physically and emotionally drained, was happy to be surrounded by the people he loved, surrounded by people overjoyed to have the newest Birkhead family member home. Dannielynnn sat contentedly on her father's lap as the Birkhead clan - sister, brother, parents, niece and nephews - gathered in a family room, chatting about the events of the past, the challenges that lay ahead and the love and support they have for each other.

Most of the talk was upbeat, happy. This was no time for negativity.

Dinner was incredibly routine. A big pot of spaghetti on one burner, meat sauce on the other, hot bread and a bowl of salad on the center island. It was a strictly help yourself affair. Everyone picking up his or her own plate, digging in, then finding a seat wherever most comfortable. Conversation was, again, casual. No whispering, no secrets to spill, just plain ordinary dinner talk.

    My Sharon Osbourne Reunion

    | Comments (1)

  • I've been dealing with a bizarre shoulder injury, my arm is in a sling and it's hard to type. Hence no blogs for a few days. Normally, I write about other people. Today, I'm writing mostly about myself. People always ask me how I got into this business and this story about myself and Sharon Osbourne gives a little snapshot of how luck, chance and meeting the right people is all part of showbiz. Plus, read on and I'll reply to some of the comments that have been made on my blogs.

I heard that Sharon Osbourne would be replacing Brandy as a judge on "America's Got Talent", I thought to myself finally this show will get some edginess to it. Turns out I was right. On day one of taping, Sharon stormed out of the studio.(more on that later) Brandy was like the Paula Abdul of AGT. Her demeanor was sweet and nurturing in contrast to British judge, Piers Morgan who's upfront honesty made him the Simon Cowell of the show. Meanwhile, David Hasselhoff filled the middle of the road role of Randy Jackson. Why do these judge fueled shows always have to try and stick with the same formula? Oh, I know why. This talent show just happens to be executive produced by Simon Cowell. Sharon and Simon are friends. Together they are judges on England's ITV show, "The X Factor", Executive Produced by you guessed it, Simon Cowell. When does this man sleep?

    Fond Of Fonda

  • I think the most beautiful thing about a woman is being self-confident. Being able to walk into a room as if you own it. For me, Jane Fonda IS that woman.

She sashayed into our junket room just as self-confident as she has always been. Never mind that the airline just lost her luggage full of clothes that she was going to wear doing a round of interviews promoting her new film, "Georgia Rule" co-starring Lindsay Lohan and Felicity Huffman.

She still looked good. All 69 years of her.

I asked her if she gave the airline a piece of her mind. In true Jane Fonda fashion, she said, "No, I was so tired, I didn't have enough mind to give them."

Jane plays a small town mom struggling to keep everyone together as terrible family secrets slowly reveal themselves. She's candid and says she knows first-hand about family dysfunction.

The conversation eventually turns to the reported bad behavior of Lindsay Lohan during filming on the set. Jane says she offered Lindsay emotional support but says the young starlet wasn't in a place where she wanted it, so Jane didn't push.
