Last night, we took Cannes by storm.
Right off the plane and into the old city, which is very romantic (narrow streets, outdoor tables). The food was bad but the '96 Margaux was outstanding.
This morning, I hopped up and went for a run with my Exec. Producer Rob.
This afternoon I joined the directors of Jerry Seinfeld's "Bee Movie" and watched 30 minutes of exclusive footage. Jerry's voice belongs on a bee. Just does.

Well, I have officially packed everything but the kitchen sink for my journey to Cannes tomorrow night. I can't wait to get to all the action. I flew to NY first and took an informal office poll.
My question? Who would you most like me to come back and report I saw [or snapped a pic of] while in Cannes? The breakdown:
30% George Clooney
65% Brangelina
4% Jack Nicholson
1% Michael Moore (I actually thought Nicholson was a little random.)

Friday night I hosted the New York Annual Gala for Operation Smile as I have on both coasts for 3 years running. I am on the Board Of Governors, having been asked to join a couple of years ago by the CEO and Co-founder, Dr. Bill Magee, an amazingly compassionate and selfless man. I do it for him.
Now...I have never seen so many beautiful young people in my life, certainly more than the year before. I hosted the live auction, ribbed some people, had some laughs...I had no idea I was in the middle of the new frontier of New York Socialites.

After a rough trip which included a 9O-minute wait on the tarmac after landing at JFK (isn't this illegal after the whole Jet Blue incident) I've finally made it to New York City for the Upfronts. This is where the TV Networks present their new Fall line up to advertisers.
First up was NBC. Before the presentation the stars of the new shows arrived at a red carpet style event. It's always a bit ackward to interview people you don't know on shows you have never seen. This is where I gauge who has star quality and who I could see as the next big thing. I accurately predicted success for Hayden Panettiere last year at NBC. So, I feel my track record is pretty good.
Here's my take on NBC's new shows

This morning in the local New York City paper there was a blurb about a 'Free Paris' rally in Washington Square Park.
I instantly knew I'd be attending.
Covering this type of stuff can be intellectually draining sometimes, so when it appeared there'd be a chance to engage, debate and perhaps spar with some Paris loyals, I had to seize it.
I am just leaving now as dejected and empty as ever. There were more photographers and video bloggers than "activists" at this event. Three people can't constitute a rally, can they? In short, the cause didn't gain much traction.

And then there were three. It's down to Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis. This is exactly how I picked it in the office American Idol pool. Only two of us remain in the running. I have Melinda to win and the other person has Jordin to win. Personally, I think it could either way. I never in a million years expected LaKisha Jones to get this far. Who was voting for her? She could not have a bigger fan base than Chris Richardson and certainly not Sanjaya. Yet, somehow she stuck around each and every week despite never quite living up to that very first week when she nailed "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going."
So, what happened since Top 24 week (when she sang that song) that her true potential never came through. In a conference call with reporters this morning LaKisha said her downfall was having to sing different genres each week, "I think I did the best with what I was given."

Welcome to week 2 of my blog. We’re halfway through sweeps and ratings are up, which is no surprise as there is certainly no shortage of big stories to cover. The David Hasselhoff and Pamela Bach debacle is a stunner.
The disturbing tape of a wrecked David Hasselhoff makes its way to all the shows … of course all the shows air the tape. All the shows call it exclusive, except Access Hollywood, which brings me to … what is exclusive?

I'm just boarding a flight to NYC. I am flying on Jet Blue....it's got the satellite TV and it's 10 traffic free minutes from my office...it makes more sense than going to LAX for a fancy seat that reclines (almost) all the way. There is another important benefit:
The company appreciates the lower cost of my ticket and you never know when you might need to draw upon a little good will....so it's good to bank some when you can.
Finally, the former Chairman of Disney, and guy who could afford his own private charter to New York, is on my flight.

Three. Episodes. Left.
Everything I've been reading about the coming episodes indicates that the current momentum ain't stopping anytime soon.
Before looking forward at tonight's episode, I want to take a moment to thank ABC for making, as far as I can tell, an unprecedented decision this week: Giving "Lost" an end date.
This is a huge relief for those of us (myself included) who began to doubt we would ever get answers. ABC announced that "Lost" be wrapped up in 48 episodes over the next three seasons, ending in 2010. Outside of the mini-series concept, I can't think of an American TV show that has been given a limited run. The simplified rise and fall of a show goes like this: A new show, for whatever reason, is a hit, making record ratings, thereby driving up ad sales; networks continue to order a series as long as people continue to tune in; the show is milked dry of everything that make it interesting & enjoyable; fans tune out; ad revenues drop & THEN the shows are axed.
"Lost" isn't built like your typical serialized drama, like "Grey's Anatomy," where as long as the viewer numbers are high, new doctors, patients, problems can be brought in and the show can continue indefinitely. "Lost" needs a finite end, real answers to the questions that have been raised since Episode One. Otherwise, it would be doomed to a demise along the lines of "The X-Files," which in my opinion, went out w/ a whimper.
So thank you, ABC, for taking a chance with this show. Now don't welch on the promise.

I was kind of disappointed with the Day to Night challenge. A lot of the day looks should have been night looks and vice versa. Less is always more in an elegant night look -- the stylists often got too complicated with their night styles and the models couldn’t execute them in the given time.
I was surprised that they didn’t make it easier, but I think they all wanted to make a statement for the night. Ben should have layered the hair more although he did do wonders for his model’s fine hair. His transition was the best for me and I loved his night style.
