    A 'Dancing' Inspiration

    | Comments (0)
  • "I complained that I had no shoes, until I saw a man who had no feet".

At this moment, I cannot remember where I first read this. But, this evening, it came to mind quickly.

I had just finished doing my last interview on the dance floor of "Dancing With the Stars". The finale was this evening and it was a reunion with many of the past celebrity performers coming back to be a part of the celebration of the new champion.

It had been a long day and I was tired. I wanted to get off my feet for I had been standing in heels for a large part of the day.

I had just finished interviewing Heather Mills - a woman who has been an inspiration to so many because she took on the challenge of dancing before the country with an artificial leg.

As we concluded our interview, a man was pushing a wheelchair towards Heather. In the chair was a little girl about 8 years old. Head partially shaven. One leg.

    'Idol' Finale Preview

  • It's here. Finally. My long "American Idol" Season Six journey is coming to a close. After a nice little break last week in New York City for the Upftonts, I have returned to my Idol beat. I'm counting the hours until its all over... but really what will I do next week?

This morning, I was inside the Kodak Theatre as the finishing touches were being put on the stage for the showdown between Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks. The theater was filled with all sorts of reporters from local Fox news outlets as technicians worked on the lights behind them. News crews were kicked out of the theater right at 8am. I was then taken across the street to interview the designers from Badgley Mischka, Mark and James. A-list stars like Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez swear by their clothes and now they will be dressing Jordin exclusively for the finale (and a few outfits tonight..) Expect gorgeous flowing gowns and some short sassy cocktail dresses tomorrow night.

    Jumping In The Cannes' 'Ocean'

  • Tomorrow we crescendo with the "Ocean's Thirteen" guys. Matt, George and Brad are now all here in Cannes...a sexy place to promote a sexy movie.

I saw the film today and it was fun. Better than "Ocean's Twelve" in my opinion.

Bumped into the film's producer Jerry Weintraub on the dock just before he boarded some huge yacht. He rolls like Caesar! Larger than life and with control over all the guys in the movie. "Billy, I'm gonna take care of you baby."

    I'm holding my breath.

    Pure Cannes-demonium!

The evening arrival of Brad and Angie was nothing short of Cannesdemonium on the red carpet.

The fans were cheering, the paparazzi were snapping pictures right and left and the movie theme music was blaring. It was all you would expect from THE international film festival of the year and I’m certain Lauren and Danny back home would’ve loved it.

Meanwhile, since we’ve been on such close Brangelina watch, today it’s off to a quick 10 minute extended preview of the new Nicole Kidman flick The Golden Compass.

Also up at bat is a more extended tour of The Hotel Du Cap with newly remitted guest, Brett Ratner.

    A $20 For Your Thoughts

  • I know this topic has nothing to do with entertainment news or celebrities, but it is a story that's close to my heart, and I wanted to share it with the readers of AccesHollywood.com today.

My pastor told a story in church that I think we should all remember when we are doubting ourselves or feel that our past mistakes make us unworthy of having God's blessings.

He took out a 20-dollar bill, held it up and asked the congregation who wanted it. As expected, dozens and dozens of people gleefully raised their hands, some shouting, "I do, I do!"

Our pastor then said, "I can't guarantee where this money has been. As you can see, it's not a new bill. It's been around a long time. It could have been used to buy drugs. It may have been used to purchase stolen goods, or even a lap dance. It's old and a little dirty."

Then, he held it up again and said, "Who still wants this 20-dollar bill?"

    Fighting For My Shot

Another day of blogging is here. By contrast to a lovely and cultural day visiting the hills of Provence in St. Paul de Vence and then Nice just outside off the madness of Cannes, I came back to La Croisette today for Brangelina watch 2007.

There I am waiting for the big arrival in a paparazzi infested madhouse, and trust me these people really are termites.

Angie’s latest flick, premiering at the festival, called "A Mighty Heart" is about reporter Daniel Pearl, who was killed in the Middle East, and is produced by Angelina’s other half, Brad.

The film is an Official Selection, but Out of Competition at this point. Does anybody out there remember the fact this role was not originally intended for Angelina? Guess who was going to be the original lead actress? Bet it won’t be that hard for you!

Brad & Angelina Cook In Cannes

  • Brad and Angelina whipped into the center of Cannes for their press conference for "A Mighty Heart". They looked as young and sexy as ever. Brad with a reddish brown hair job and Angelina punishingly exotic and lip centric as ever.

They arrived by boat from the Hotel du Cap where their children are playing with Mariane Pearl's kid. Angelina painted a very Gatsby-esque picture of children playing by the oceanside. I do hope they are left alone on the beach and the paps aren't in boats off the coast. Of course they are, but how sad that others' privacy is your livelihood. I draw the line at circling the bandwagon.

Tim Vincent interviewed Angelina as she walked in...great 5 questions about life in Cannes, the family's plan here...just a fun quick exchange.

    Cannes: Losing Leo

Yesterday was interesting to say the least. The day began with a trip to one of the hottest and most expensive hotels in Cap d'Antibbes; The Hotel du Cap, Eden Roc. Michael Douglas owns a home in this area. Celebrities known to have stayed here are everyone from Jennifer Aniston to George Clooney. Prices for suites at the hotel are estimated to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of a whopping 7,000 Euros per night. Tres expensive for this lush and beautiful beach front property where anything and every need is catered to and met with elegance and modern sophistication

We were headed there for an exclusive interview with Leo DiCaprio, but unfortunately the interview was pushed due to time constraints.

Interestingly enough if you were to head to their website, you would hear the famous music from the movie "Titanic." Leo is in town promoting his latest environmental flick and we will pick up with the interview later in the week.

    Settling In At Cannes

Well folks, as promised we got our taste of blueberry pie when Norah Jones showed up in our lounge for an interview and we got the pics as she promoted her upcoming feature.

Meanwhile, our space on La Crosiette ROCKS. We're the premiere and only entertainment news resource in the space and the American Pavilion is thrilled to have us with them. While I was making the rounds inside, I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Director/Producer Halfdan Hussey and his partner Nickie Zepeda of Cinequest. For those of you who don't know, part of the purpose of Cannes is not just to screen films, but also for marketers to seek out new films to distribute...and that's where Cinequest comes in.

Self-described as, "mavericks who empower the marriage of filmmakers with the technology of silicon valley", Halfdan and Nickey are seeking content that's edgy, original and from true risk takers. Check out some of what they are already up to at www.cinequest.org.

Hello and goodbye from Cannes…I arrived Tuesday after a spectacular and star-filled flight from LA. Minnie Driver sitting a few rows in front of us and then on the Heathrow to Nice leg, Jude Law who’s “My Blueberry Nights” opened the 60th Cannes Film Festival, was with us too.

Access Hollywood is doing something no show of its kind has ever undertaken, hosting virtually the entire show from the Festival. We have a bevy of producers, crews and of course talent. We all arrived and by Tuesday we were up and going.
