GE's Reaction to Show

So far, they are fine with it. We haven't said anything bad about their products. I'm still waiting to get a free washer/dryer...but nothing yet. Seriously GE...I need a new dryer.

This will sound strange, but “30 Rock” has jolted me out of my month-long depression. No, seriously. It broke my 3 week drinking binge, and made me stop worrying about why I’m here and if I’ll ever make a difference. Who cares?!??!?! Because Tina Fey has her own show. So, Rock on, Lemon, Rock on!

I'm an engineer working for GE and a few of us at work think the show is hilarous, we love the pokes at GE on our end. I don't know how corporate feels. :-p

This product synergy uproar is ridiculous. Mocking the stupid oven on the show, and then seeing the actual stupid oven during the break, at least to me, reinforced the guts 30 Rock had over other prime time programming. To be very specific about this...this is a satirical point and a good one as it reminds that oven salesmen determining progamming has an inextricable link with tv being ever stupider. This is a smart show and you're fighting the good fight Tina. I found you throughly charming & loved scenes with Alec. More Judah dammit...

Tina,

"Oy vey" as you will, but I was one of those who found the actual commercial for the GE Trivection oven that came on the heels of your clear sarcastic inclusion of it in the show confounding. It is one thing to rib your corporate bosses within the framework of the show, but then to go ahead an actually have a commercial for the real thing was confusing and beyond blurring the line. It just seemed overt and low brow. I wasn't even sure if the Trivection was an actual product when Alec's character touted it in the show. In fact, I actually found it funny as a "creation" since it did seem ludicrous to have a 3 way heating mechanism, but then when a commercial came on actually advertising it as a real product, it was confusing to even a smart guy like me (yes, we're out here : ) It took away the fun and made the show -like it or not- seem like it was pandering. That said, I enjoyed it. I just hope there will be no more "blurring" of the line. We all know we are watching a show on NBC about a show on NBC, so it doesn't need to be something we're reminded of in my opinion. Better to just get past it and let us get into these great characters you've created. Congratulations!

How is it that so many people miss the point that the discussion of the trivection oven on the show was making fun of G.E. and its corporate ownership? Oy vey.

The fact that GE owns NBC makes it worse. Regardless of what they were attempting (I’m assuming they meant it to be satirical) it came across as scratching the parent company’s back. And for the NBC marketing people who I’m sure are reading this blog to determine what demographic they’re reaching, I’m a 24 year old white female, college-educated, who watched Tina Fey religiously on SNL and who will probably not be tuning in to 30 Rock again. And it's not just this GE thing. I just didn't think it was very smart.

I think there are a few people who don't realize that GE owns NBC. The Trivection oven is real and the commercials were intentional.

I hate dial-up connections... stupid backwoods areas.

oops!! trivection! thanks, Kim!

oops!! trivection! thanks, Kim!

You definitely deserve a new setup from GE. The folks at Moon Pie and Spam hooked me up with a ton of them for giving them the good word at the University of Florida when I was a student there during the late 90s!

I have to say when I saw the commercial for the tribeca oven in the middle of your episode, i couldn't tell of it was part of the show!! i figured it out, though. eventually. :)

Oops- my posts keep going to the wrong subject....

Topic: You

This is the first time Ive seen a live blog. How incredibly awesome that you would sit here and read my half-retarded ramblings?

By really, how many "Tina Feys" are employed here to answer this incredible volume of email? Could it be just you? How do you do that?

Haha, you probably didn't notice but right after your show ended, they showed a commercial for the Trivecton Oven!

gotta love corporate ownership.

I’m a huge fan of Tina Fey and the show was pretty good but the oven part… it was funny in the beginning, but then when an actual commercial for the oven came on, it just seemed like the show was selling out to GE or something. I’m not surprised they have no problem with it – the whole show was like a commercial for their oven.

You should go on oprah i bet ya she could get you a washer and dryer (and the lighting is really good im 19 and wonder what i would look like under those lights
lol)I love when you do interviews ya so funny and cute at the same time
Jessica

Loved the GE executive gone TV show producer who is applying principals from his world of kitchen appliances to a tv show. Its so over the top, I cant believe people thought GE actualy was in on it. Smart comedy, thank you:-)

so tina fey......(im talking to you like we hang out like every weekend and have sleep overs...h aha i tottally wish....your my hero) but yea i got an idea you should rent out like a huge hall and get all your fans together for a huge party to just come and hang out with you.....b/c your loved by so many........if not then me and you should hang out.....b/c its been a life goal of mine to meet you

Is it harder to write for your character than others?

If their lawyers are smart, they won't harrass you. If anything, it will improve their name to let you use it (unless, of course, you seriously talk bad about them).

Make sure the Big Wigs know that a lot of people are watching the plane crash thing and more will be watching the next show.

Well done!! Tina, you never miss. So looking forward to more!

when did you find out that there would be a show similar to yours in the weekly line-up, and did it tick you off when you found out?

Tina, how can a fan get a tour of the set? Or be able to watch an episode being shot?

That is if you actually want a working dryer. Think Whirlpool Duo

I disagree with the people who say you need more political commentary. There is enough of that on SNL and other late-night shows. This is refreshing and I like it that way.

eh product placement should at least get you money. If the GE thing was a paid placement I didn't think it detracted in any way from the show.

Hey Tina - If GE kicks in with a dryer, can you get them to send me the washer ???

Tina,

Do you prefer to write or act? If you had to make a choice...?

Alta

My house needs a new dishwasher.

I need to write a current event for world history, but you're too addicting.

I need one of those too. God GE...IS the girlie show filmed on the set of snl?

what is your favorite comedy tv show?

Tina: You've got a winner! The writing is great, the chemistry excellent. Best wishes!

I thought there was some serious good product placement! I didn't think that oven was for reals then they showed that ad right after. CRAZY

How is baby Alice? What does she think about the show?

hahah it's hilarious that you didn't use GE because they forced you to. brilliant!

Do trivection ovens even exist?

I would love to know some of your favorite screen writers.

Does GE make a "tri-vection" dryer. (It can dry 20 towels in 5 minutes!)

Great show! You are so funny, the cast is great. You were hilarious on Jay Leno (talking about your daughter). I am the mother of two and related so well!!

I need a new washer! I have a new dryer. Wanna trade?

The show's done product placement... Will it ever do social commentary on national issues?

I say again: Al Franken please. Something political.

So how much did your brother actually get for the QVC shirt thing?

Will the show ever delve into the characters personal lives as well?

I need a washer and dryer too...you should convince them to have some sort of contest that I can win!

will there be any nude scenes?????

Tina
You are Amazingly Fabulous
I Wish I Could Have Seen you Live But Now I See You on Your Own Show...and We Need a New Set Here too so you should send your old stuff our way

There also may be time for a short trip to Cincinnati. The last time was so magical. Oh how the kids laughed, and squealed as uncle bob went into his slipping squirrel routine. I thought it was a bit cliché, but grandma’s eggnog was starting to take effect and all I could do was snicker to the picture of myself from high school.

I work for Whirlpool and I can get ya a new dryer.

Do trivection ovens even exist?

Is 127 lbs accurate?

My house needs a new dishwasher.

I am supposed to do a current event for World History right now, but you're too addicting. :O

Hey Tina! What has been your favorite part of 30 Rock so far?

I think it's a real smart idea to promote products on shows in a non-intrusive manner. They should be real pleased with that.

Need a new dryer thats really funny. Change the name of the blonde bimbo Tina.

i loved how excited alec's character got over the oven!

What do you think of Dane Cook?

Speaking of free things... did you guys seriously get free laptops from the new Apple store last year? Because I'm so madly jealous.

I took a Pizza Hut survey and I didn't get no damn pizza.

haha. nice product placement, by the way.

could you come to Allegheny College in Meadville, PA to talk to our TV studies class? Our co-professor is Lloyd Segan, in case you know him. :)

Hi Tina! I really liked the show. I know this is kind of lame, but I made these a while back, and I hope you get to see them. http://tinafeywwfchampion.ytmnd.com/ http://tinafeyface.ytmnd.com/ Thanks, and good luck with the show!
