Great show! keep up the good work. Great dialogue, chemistry is right, everything is clicking. Thanks for providing an alternative to reality and inane game shows.
Great show! I especially liked the Odd Couple type thing. When John's character slices the cake with his hand and Jeff's hands him a plate. Very funny! Funny but tasteful! Oh and pan the laugh track.
Debi
just like modern men was a suckhole, so is this! you're a moron marsh mccall with absolutely no visible talent.
NBC has nothing new and nothing original to offer us. This show is too alternate reality with all the extreme things I hear are in the works. Get a clue! You have NO talent Marsh McCall. NONE! NONE! NONE! Go back to what you probably do best. Working at a McDonald's asking customers, "Would you like fries with that?" You could probably do that job a lot better. You are certainly overpaid because your writing sucks. You aren't even worth pitching to a network. You suck!
A horse shitting on a priest would get a bigger following then this.
Twenty Good Years=22 Minutes I will not get back. I want to be reimbursed by NBC for those minutes. The writing is horrendous, the laugh track, although a real audience, is crap. The stupid, idiot editor tweaks it beyond belief. The show sucks out loud! I can't wait for it to get the axe! Great work on producing garbage NBC!
Congratulations Marsh! You have some fans here, but unfortunately the lackluster ratings of 6.97 million viewers for the Pilot speak these words "It Sucks!" No one wants to watch it. It's pointless. The writing is not challenging these great actors before. Lithgow did it with 3rd Rock, Tambor did it with Arrested. You're trying to repeat the past. You stink Marsh McCall. You stink out loud!
During the 80s NBC had the slogan, "NBC, Let's All Be There." Well, since then we've seen some major hits. Frasier, Friends, Will & Grace. Now, with those shows gone I assume NBC decided to pick up the biggest lump of filth they could find aka "Twenty Good Years" and prove to the country that they have absolutely nothing left to do. I blame Kevin Reilly, our Pilot's talentless writer, Marsh McCall and Werner-Gold-Miller for producing this crap.
Marsh,
If your goal was to produce 22 painful minutes of forced comedy with a horrible laugh track then I must say. . .you've succeeded! Dah dah dah, dah dah dah, dah dah dah! Ding! Ding! Ding! You're the worst new comedy writer of the season. You win a "Sucky" Award! From your atrocity on Modern Men to your lackluster writing skills here, I must congratulate you on being completely TALENTLESS! You must be very proud that you can barely hold

Guys! There is NO laugh track. There is an audience. However, if you go on the tvtickets.com website you'll notice how they're trying to just give these tickets away with "guaranteed admission." The show probably doesn't attract many people to its audience on its own so Audiences Unlimited is trying to SHOVE the tickets at people. There are people there, but probably not very many went willfully. I feel bad for your studio audience.
Well, I must say no matter how much praise you've gotten here Marsh, nothing can be done with what the American audience thought and that was that this show sucked. It was only watched by 6.97 million viewers. FOX shows do better than that. Boy NBC just keeps cranking out crap don't they. NBC has nothing new to offer us and it's the worst network this season! I hope this show is cancelled because it sucks beyond belief. You have NO talent Marsh McCall. RIGHT ON TO WHOEVER SAID MODERN MEN SUCKED!
Congratulations on your show.
You have two great talents in Tambor and Lithgow. You obviously have good writers.
Please get rid of the laugh track - it's an insult to all your show's creative people and the viewers. That old adage "never underestimate your audience" applies here. Believe me, we get it - it is hilariously funny. We know when to laugh!
Great Show...Great Actors...
Certainly pertinent for us
baby boomers. Will be watching
next week. Only complaint is
laughter sounding like a laugh
track...
Great writing produced bellylaughs. Our own.
This show has nothing new to offer. I agree with everyone else who was annoyed by the laugh track. You're wasting two great talents who have both done zany offbeat comedies (3rd Rock and Arrested Development). This show is too "safe" for them. This is the kind of show you might watch if you were in the waiting room at a hospital.
i saw the pilot: it sucks out loud. you made judith light's character into a stereotype. that all women are desperate and need a relationship. you also must've been a huge fan of 3rd rock b/c you've written the character of dr. jon, no different from dick solomon. their is nothing different or unique about john's acting here then 3rd rock. you really need some more life experience if you intend to get this show to take off. you're 42 you should have more life experience. the show was predictable and the laugh track was horrendous. i know their is a live audience there, so use their real laughter and stop tweaking it. it's an insult to viewers and yourselves. you have a very poor writing staff from what i saw tonight. no matter how bad this show was, it's not any worse then modern men. that was the dumbest thing i've ever seen. i'm so glad it's gone. you really need to take some writing classes as well. i give this show it's initial order before NBC gives it the axe. . .and if they do, it will be well deserved.
Marsh: did you get my episode ideas! Please let me know on this blog, I hope you like them. Bye!
i will agree with what he or she said below me. modern men was the stupidest lump of garbage i have seen ever! it is probably on my top five list of worst sitcoms ever. it may even be the WORST sitcom i've ever seen and i must say you must've taken some writing classes b/c your writing there was less than perfect, but your writing here was at least watchable.
I must say as sort of a backhanded compliment this was much better than that vile, stupid piece of trash "Modern Men" that you wrote. My God, I wanted to rip my eyes out just watching it and I was so glad when it was cancelled. It was stupid, pointless, and just went to show how clueless men are. All of the characters in Modern Men were completely stereotypical. You really did some shitty writing on that show. Your writing for that show sucked!
Although I know this is a live audience, you can tell that it is tweaked in post-production. I myself love the idea of a studio audience but not when you're going to tweak all the laughing. It should have kept the laughter they gave and not tweaked it. Keep the audience, lose the tweaking it's absolutely ridiculous. The shows editor sucks!
Can't understand how a good show with great actors can come up short in creating a good story. Lithgow and Tambor's characters yell how they 'grew up within a block of each other, later at hospital, they say they know each other only 40 years, yet celebrating Lithgow's character's 60th b-day. Alos. The beach scene is sooo obviously a California beach.
We watched about 2 minutes and couldn't stand the laugh track.
Thanks for a wonderful show. I'll be watching. Marty
Thank you for writing such a funny and intelligent comedy. It is nice to see professional actors that have the experience. We love the show.
How would a writer/creator get his show idea infront of a TV executive?
Loved the PILOT. Great script. Do John and Jeff have any acting history together? Great comedy duo.
It's interesting to see that John Lithgow is back at CBS STUDIO CENTER, again. Do you guys film on Stage 15 like 3rd Rock did? I know because I have a ticket from the show. It'd be so cool if he was back at the same studio and same stage :)
I'm done with idea for now. There's a good 20 ideas there for you guys to possibly work with and I hope they sound like possibly story ideas. If you get a chance, it would be great to hear what you think! Thanks, Marsh!
1). 3RD ROCK
A possible corny idea of John having a dream about being abducted by aliens. Guest appearances would include JANE CURTIN, KRISTEN JOHNSTON, JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT & FRENCH STEWART.
2). THE GOLDEN BOYS
John and Jeffrey interview for a 3rd roommate.
1). TWENTY YEARS FROM THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW
John and Jeffrey picture what their lives will be like once they turn 80 and if they'll still be living on the edge at that age.
2). WHAT'S AGE, GOT TO DO, GOT TO DO WITH JOHN?
John applies for a second job and winds up being turned down for job after job due to his age.
3). OUT WITH THE OLD
Jeffrey is in trouble when people think that he too should consider retiring like John.
Marsh - if you get a chance, let me know what you think of my ideas. I truly enjoy writing and would love to have helped this show out in a way.
1). LET IT SNOW
A snowstorm inspires John and Jeffrey to go snowboarding but they wind up getting trapped in the snow and unable to get home.
2). DRINKING FOOLS
John and Jeffrey have been doing a little too much drinking lately and John winds up hitting on Gina.
3). LAW & DISORDER
Gina gets in a bit of trouble with the law and who's the judge at her trial? Jeffrey!
This appears to be similar to the Odd Couple. Tonight the laughter in the background was quite annoying. It was often out of sync with the humor or attempted humor. I hope this can be fixed.
Just how much arm-twisting did you have to do to get John and Jeffrey to do the series?? I would have loved to have been in on that conversation!!
what's the best part of your job?
I hope some of my ideas are seen on the screen someday soon ;) Enjoy them
Beautiful. We loved it. Tambor and Lithgow? Yessssss.
At last, a comedy that's funny? It's been a long time since we've seen one.
IDEAS CONTINUED:
1). GINA & JEFFREY & JOHN
Gina decides to give Jeffrey another chance, but John's constant being around the apartment puts a strain on their relationship.
2). OVER THE HILL AND FAR AWAY
Jeffrey meets Gina's boyfriend from the cruise and tries to prove to Gina that he is more adventurous than Roberto.
3). GRANDADDY'S LITTLE GIRL
John holds a birthday party for his grandaughter but winds up spoiling everything.
4). GOLDEN OLDIES
John and Jeffrey go to a dance club and wind up looking like idiots in front of all the younger people.
IDEAS CONTINUED:
4). FLYING MONKEYS
John convinces Jeffrey to take skydiving lessons claiming that everything will be fine. But when John gets hurt Jeffrey is the one who is able to gloat claiming that it may not always be a great idea to live on the edge.
5). LIFE OF THE PARTY
John's wild and crazy attitude brings all sorts of ages to a party he's throwing at Jeffrey's apartment, and Jeffrey, angry, throws him out.
6). MOTHER LOAD
John's mother comes to visit after splitting from his father and puts a strain on life in John and Jeffrey's apartment.
7). TALK, TALK, TALK
John and Jeffrey appear on a talk show episode that is dealing with life after 60 and both wind up being told their crazy and that they should settle down.
8). HOME IS WHERE THE OLD IS
John and Jeffrey visit a retirement home in hopes of giving the elderly some more spunk.
The Odd Couple was a funny show in its day. The Odd Couple to me is a “been there seen that”, so I don’t watch those repeats. I can’t see this show doing that. John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor are to smart to let that happen. Marsh, you wouldn’t let that happen, correct!? Marsh, what motivated or inspired you as a co-creator to run with this show? I think I’ll like this show. The ending showed some depth in the maternity ward of the hospital. The other thing I liked is when Jeffery’s character cut through the crap to allow John’s character to move in with him. So far, so good!
That is very funny that you're asking for story idea, but not to sue you. I'd say these are my ideas:
1). THE GRANDFATHER STAYS OUT OF THE PICTURE
John babysits his new granddaughter and babysits her on one of his new adventures, causing his daughter to claim that he is not a good influence on her granddaughter and that he can't babysit her anymore.
2). JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF ATTENTION
Jeffrey's son takes him on one of his photo shoots and Jeffrey winds up becoming the center of attention pushing his son into the background.
3). THE DREAM
Jeffrey has a dream that his ex-wife visits him and tells him to try and reconcile things with Gina.
I called my friend Paul waiting in the LA Airport for a flight back to Philly.I told him to find a TV. It is us, great
This show is very funny! I hope it stays this way in the shows that follow. John Lithgow & Jeffrey Tambor are a great combination! I admired their t.v. shows they were on previously "3rd Rock From The Sun" & "Arrested Development". I haven't laughed this hard since "Arrested Development" was cancelled by the Fox Network and the same with "3rd Rock". Will any of John Lithgow's co-stars from "3rd Rock" appear on this show and the same with Jeffrey Tambor's co-stars from "Arrested Development" appear on "20 Good Years?" Great Show! I hope it will not suffer the same fate as "3rd Rock" & "Arrested Development."
Raced in ScooterCannonball from Or. To NY. Your characters ought to try it . 3293miles in 9 days on a motorscooter.
I GOT A GOOD IDEA FOR THE SHOW
let em get high and go to a church to preach the good word
Hi! I am an aspiring actor/writer. Now I'm sure you've heard that umpteenth hundred times. I recently wrote my own version of a That '70s Show Finale that I thought was worothy. I wrote it before the actual finally aired on May 18th. Someone in the business I showed it to thought it was so good that she suggested I send it to Debra Jo Rupp, the creators (Bonnie/Terry Tuner and Mark Brazil) so I did. I hope to get a response someday. Do you have any advice?
Is there a lot of pressure on you guys considering the huge slump that NBC is in and also being their only multi-camera comedy with an audience?
While this show was decent, I have seen better from people such as Tom Werner. I would have expected something more from him. I am very disappointed that he is no longer working with Marcy Carsey and Caryn Mandabach. Can you tell me what happened to Carsey & Mandabach?
What a great show. John Lithgo has that great humour that comes so naturally and innocent. What a great duo! Hope it's around for a long time.
Great show....can you tell us about the the writers...they did a great job for these two fine actors.
LOVE THE SHOW!!! Congratulations!!! Lithgow and Tambor are legendary and funny on their own and together it's just a HOOT!!!! This is going on my TiVo!!
20 GOOD YEARS WINS BEST COMEDY
Oh hell yea. I can envision this award. What a great pairing of 2 simply outstanding actors/comedians. Bravo for the writing and making my sides hurt so much.
Sheila
There aren't that many shows programmed into my PVR, but this will definitely be one of them! Thanks so much for the laughs.
If it's not a laugh track, then tone down the audience. It's very distracting.
Super show,I love't
love't this guys,super.
is time the we have a clean
and fany show again.
I love both of these men. Now that they are together, I am giddy as a little school girl!!! Great job and I hope for many more episodes to come. Great job!!!
LOVED IT!! So refreshing to see real people instead of "flavour of the week" kids. Keep up the great work!
Great actors, great premise. Good show. Horrible sound tract. Please get rid of it. It really detracts from the show.
LOVE THE SHOW!!! Congratulations!!! Lithgow and Tambor are legendary and funny on their own and together it's just a HOOT!!!! This is going on my TiVo!!
How long were you on Just Shoot Me? Why did you decide to do My Big Fat Greek Life?
Thank you ! Thank You! For a tremendously talented wonderful show for those of us who have twenty years left!
Love the show but please, please please dump the awful laugh track. Laugh tracks are sooo passe!
Hi,
Great comedy. Loved it!
They are the odd couple of 2006. Outstanding in every way. janice cumins 40 yr old NY
Great show! It's not another killer, shoot'em up show. Thank Goodness! I'll watch weekly, however, the laugh track has to go.
My husband and I love it, but please lose the laugh track (we lost some of the lines because of it and it is distracting).
Keep up the good work. We really need shows like this.
excellent keep it coming life starts at 60
I loved it! I am not an actress, but would love to play opposite John Lithglow. Write me at ladymarianz@yahoo.com - I would be the perfect female opposite.
Great show! Not a killer shoot'em up. Thank Goodness! I'll watch weekly, however, the laugh track has to go.
This is the best I have laughed in years! Friends was dumb, Newheart was dumber and Sienfeld was the absolute worst! This show is great! About time there was a show targeting the boomers instead of the baby boopers. Keep up the good work!
Please lose the laugh track! Good show otherwise.
The actress playing the pregnant daughter is merely reprising the whiny, insecure role she did in Miss Congeniality. I hope you can give her some lines with a wider range.
I'd like to pre-order the 1st season.
I love those guys and not because I'm balding
Congratulations on a unique and hysterical show. Lithgow and Tambor are just perfect together as is the entire excellent cast. Bravo.
I thought it was wonderful. I wasn't bothered by the laugh track though you don't need it. When Judith Light slapped John Lithgow, he was just so NATURALLY funny!! Finally, a potentially great sit-com to look forward to every week.
Good show. Funny premise, good writing, and good acting. I haven't watched sitcoms since Soap, but I thought this one would be worth a try, and it certainly was.
Loved the show and hope the writing will be sharp enough to deliver a hit for you. Lithgow and Tambour are wonderful--give them something to work with and they will deliver.
Thanks gives me hope at 50.
Loose the laugh track. Unnecessary...we're all laughing too hard to hear it anyway. Best writing I've heard in years with the "new" odd couple. Can't wait until next week.
I have to agree with the majority here. LOSE THE LAUGH TRACK. The actors are great and so is the premise of the show. I think the audience is smart enough to what is funny. without the canned laughter. Thanks.
20 + 30 = Laugh Tuesdays. and a really hit I loved them both.
Here-here to a getting a live audience for these master performers. These giants can pull it off. Without the audience it's hard for these actors to get the feedback needed to fine-tune their delivery. The lines and the story were good. This show could be as classic as MTM, Newhart or the Gary Shandling show. Please give us the best that you've got. A huge audience of discerning fans want to love these two guys and this venue.
Good show. Funny premise, good writing, and good acting. I haven't watched sitcoms since Soap, but I thought this one would be worth a try, and it certainly was.
you can get awy with almost anything in a 30 year friendship.......use it.........take this t the edge
I do agrre, the laugh track was a little hokey. Otherwise, a perfect show.
Great show. Get rid of the laugh track
you can get awy with almost anything in a 30 year friendship.......use it.........take this t the edge
Brilliant, sublime writing. I was very impressed!...of fish.
I am a huge fan of 3rd Rock from the Sun. Lithgow seems to be playing the same type of character but it is refreshing. Considering Tom Werner is behind this, and he had such hit shows like Roseanne, That '70s Show, Cybill, 3rd Rock, etc. they shouldn't use a laugh track. All those other Tom Werner shows had audience laughter that was the real audience, not tweaked. I am not a fan of the other Werner-Gold-Miller show, Happy Hour. It sucks. This is much better.
Lots of promise! The characters have room to grow and the actors are great. I'm looking forward to some real ensemble true situational comedy ... Ditto everyone else on the laugh track; it's too much. Let us laugh on our own. Or, better yet, go out on a limb and film a few episodes live!
Good luck! I'll be watching.
best thing on TV since 3rd rock in spite of the laugh track.
It's a great premise! I can't believe the co-incidence that my brother was just saying that he feels that he has the life span of a "roof" left to enjoy! You've got a mega hit on your hands. Best wishes!
you can get awy with almost anything in a 30 year friendship.......use it.........take this t the edge
this 40 yr old will watch again!..finaly entertainment is back :) ( never wtch cuz of all the reality garbage)thanks & goodluck!
Great show. Laugh out loud funny and a great dhemistre between two great actors. So far the best of the season.
Liked the show but the laugh track has to go.
First time I've laughed out loud in forever! These two are great together--kill the laugh track and let the audience supply their own!
I agree with many others--lose the laugh track. If the show is funny, I'll laugh, thank you very much. I think it has potential--don't always go for the "easy" laugh. Love the actors!
Greatest Pilot Ever!!!!
I'm a huge fan of other Lithgow shows and this may prove to be the best yet.
Where did the idea come from?
LIKE THE ODD COUPLE ON CRCK IS MY BLOG - U ARE ADDING OTHERS EMAIL ADRESSES TO MY ORIGINAL BLOG - HMMM WHAT DORKS LOL
a very funny show love it
so damn funny please make a lot of em
perfect blend of 2 personalities. more energetic than the odd couple but not as subtle as frasier. add a touch of that and you make a great show better
LOVED IT! Lose the laugh track. I am so glad it was as good as I hoped it would be. Bravo!
Well... Are you going to respond to all the posts requesting that you loose the laugh track??????
Thank you sooooo much for finally putting a comedy on the air that is truly worth watching! Watching John Lithgow and laughing out loud at the show brought many fond memories of 3rd Rock and I can assure you that there haven't been many comedies that can do that. You have picked a true winner and the pairing of John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor (who I loved in Meet Joe Black) was wonderful. Kudos to NBC for this wonderfully funny show. Finally a show on Wednesday nights that we can watch just to laugh and have fun with. PLEASE DON'T CANCEL THIS SHOW EVER!!!! I'll continue watching NBC as long as Twenty Good Years is showing.
Love the show but please, please please dump the awful laugh track. Laugh tracks are sooo passe!
I agree with many others--lose the laugh track. If the show is funny, I'll laugh, thank you very much. I think it has potential--don't always go for the "easy" laugh. Love the actors!
I enjoyed the show enormously, and look forward to more.
However, like many others have mentioned, the added laugh track does nothing but get in the way of enjoying it.
As another said, we can figure out when to "laff" on our own.
Great pair of leads.
Please
--PLEASE--
lose the laugh track
Sorry...I hope you got the first part of my comments, I was saying how I caught the last 10 min. of your show and I abosolutely love it! A great combination John and Jeffrey! I so look forward to the next show.
Keep up the good work and congratulations!
Pick up the pacing (everyone seems out of sync with Lithgow),
there are too many pauses highlighting flat jokes,
critically cut the poor wit before ever delivering a script, and give
smart characters smart lines or you'll be yanked by week
three.
John Lithgow is one of my favorite comedians and the combination with Jeffrey Tambor was brilliant. I hope it continues to make me laugh. Iloved 3rd Rock from the sun and it's quirky characters. I hope this show brings in some of those types of characters.
you can get away with almost anything in 30 relationship...........use it....take this show to edge
Ditch the laugh track. The tone and intonation the characters use, combined with their situations speak far better than canned laughter.
Please, please get rid of the laugh track. I will give this show another couple of weeks just because of the actors.
Greatest Pilot Ever!!!!
I'm a huge fan of other Lithgow shows and this may prove to be the best yet.
Where did the idea come from?
Funny stuff!!
Would love to see more of Gina, as played by Judith Light. She's definitely The Boss..LOL
She'd be a great adversary for John
Loved it...despite the reviews but GET RID OF THE CANNED LAUGHTER>>>>>my husband left the room because of it...we just hate it...please what is the purpose
The laugh track is the worst. As soon as the show started, it was the first comment I made. My reaction was confirmed when I logged onto the blog and saw such an overwhelming crowd with the same comment!
you can get away with almost anything in 30 relationship...........use it....take this show to edge
Thanks for the opening shots on the racquetball court! Let's open all the shows that way! It's great for those of us wanting to see the game thrive and those who know you can play it for those next 20 good years!
The show has a lot of promise. Your biggest assets are the two leading men. Hwoever, the comments regarding the laugh track are well founded. If Curb has taught us anything, it is that an audience will get the humor if it really is funny. I look forward to seeing the show develop past the Episode 1. Just get the network folks out of the kitchen and allow the creativity of the show run unrestrained for a little while.
You've got a winner here! I laughed until the tears ran down my cheeks.
The pairing up of John and Jeffrey is sheer Genius.
Can't wait for the next show!
Oh yeah, I do agree that the laugh track is too much, but it didn't ruin the experience for me. I would like to see them try to rollerblade or snowboard.
Like the Odd Couple on Crack! I LOVE IT!!! LMAO
Hmm. An Oscar Wilde draeing room comdey. Have the nerve to go all the way wit it.
I agree the sound track was a bit much. The show itself was great. The acting was very good. I've enjoyed both actors work for years. The comedy and writing seem very sound.
I love the raw material, but kill the laugh track. Also wouldn't hurt to go 1/2 degree darker.
Sorry...I hope you got the first part of my comments, I was saying how I caught the last 10 min. of your show and I abosolutely love it! A great combination John and Jeffrey! I so look forward to the next show.
Keep up the good work and congratulations!
Off to a good start! Keep the humor intelligent (like tonight), and you'll have a hit. It hits home!
Like the Odd Couple on Crack! I LOVE IT!!! LMAO
Forced. Not funny. Sorry.
Hello. I just finished watching 20 Good Years and thought the acting was AMAZING!!!!!! It was the best acting I have seen in years. But the one problem.......the writing SUCKED!!! It wasnt the worst writing ever...but pretty close to it. Nothing can be worse than Happy Hour and Til' Death on FOX. Well good luck with the show and lose the laugh track as well as the horrid writing!! I'll tune in for a couple more weeks.....if nothing changes....1 more fan down the drain!!! FYI: I AM THE FAN YOU WANT!!! IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!
I am 28 dating a 60 year old attorney. I hope he has 20 good years. Great show!
I love John Lithgow. Looks great in a speedo.
Estremely funny show. Just great comedy that we baby boomers can all relate to. Very creative writing.
Like the Odd Couple on Crack! I LOVE IT!!! LMAO
Please get rid of that awful laugh track. It's like putting anchovies on ice cream. Let the actors' comedic timing work its own magic without being tainted by something telling us when to laugh.
Great actors and great comedy!
are there going to be any shows where they try any extreme sports?
You have two of the best actors on television. They make me laugh even while just standing still. Laugh track did not distract me at all.
I just heard about this show this evening and just from the description I knew that I wanted to watch it. I love the cast and I thought it was funny. There were a number of memorable moments and it drew me in so that I am looking forward to see what they do next week.
keep the faith,
dEx
i LOVE this show! i am so excited to see john lithgow on tv again. i watched the pilot on my PC this morning & set the timer for tonight because i couldn't wait to see it again. i've been telling everyone about this show!!! ...lose the laugh track, it's annoying..
Great show. I plan on watching every week. The laugh track is horrible.
I agree with all comments about the laugh track. It was very annoying. Stayed tuned only to see if the two stars would be as funny as they have been in the past. Good premise. Good luck
I love this show, its my new Wednesday night ritual.
good characters but plot is not
Very funny, I hope it only gets better
Good jokes...but John Lithgow's acting seems stale....very similar to "3rd Rock from the Sun"
Yup, the laugh track was hideous. I'm a big Jeffrey Tambor fan, and stuck with it, but I found the laugh track made it un-funny.
Think you will an intersting storyline, relecting how it feels to know that the next 20 years better be good...they are all any of us really have if we're over 50 ;-)
very funny pilot! i hope it lasts a long time. i agree with the laugh track though. do john & jeffrey get along?
i thot the screaming laugh track was hillarious when he disrobed
Now that is what a good show is about! Great writing, wonderful actors (not teenie boopers) who can make their characters seem like real people, and a great theme. Congrats, I'll watch every week!
Keith
p.s. If I put a flute up my nose can I be on the show? if yes see http://www.myspace.com/newtonsgroove. Later!
makes me want to do the same, make 20 good years happen.starting now. Loved the show
great show!! right from the start....WOW!!!! I am a fan
The first good laughs I have had in a long while watching a sit com (well 30 rock made me smile too!)
Thanks for a fun half hour and I did not even notice the laugh tracks. The cast was great
The show was great! I'm looking forward to next week. Those two are hilarious. I didn't even notice the laugh track...
Please bring back Judth Light
I completely agree. The show is good but the laugh track is terrible.
Very funny but get rid of the can laughter.
Forced, not funny. Sorry
Now that is what a good show is about! Great writing, wonderful actors (not teenie boopers) who can make their characters seem like real people, and a great theme. Congrats, I'll watch every week!

p.s. If I put a flute up my nose can I be on the show? if yes see http://www.myspace.com/newtonsgroove. Later!

FUNNY!! Better than the Odd Couple.
Great writing! Great characters! But I still miss Love Monkey...
Great first show! I didn't notice the laugh track because I was multi-tasking, but I will actually recommend this show to others.
Really like your show. I agree with the others though, lose the laugh track. I don't need to be told when to laugh. Your show is too good for it.
Brilliant! God, I love those two! I never find time to watch t.v., but now I have a great reason to stay put for a half hour once a week.
Laugh track has to go. The show was over the top. Your actors are trying way to hard to be funny. They are naturally funny...They need to relax and let their natural talent be their guide
KILL THE LAUGH TRACK AND YOU HAVE A WINNER. EXCELLENT SHOW WITH TWO ENTERTAINING PERFORMERS.

haaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaa
way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The show's really great. Hope you can keep the content alive and funny as long as possible.
that was a great time watching that.........just make sure u keep the show real like a 30 year friendship
Thought the show was very funny, John Lithgow was hysterical as usual.
What's it like working with John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor? They are hilarious together. It's nice to see a buddy comedy again.
I thought the Pilot was very good. Although, I will agree with everyone else because I do believe that the real audience laughter should be used and it shouldn't be tweaked. It sounds like we're going back to the Leave it to Beaver/Father Knows Best era. It sounds like there is no audience at all even though we know there is. It would be nice to hear the real responses. Does the shows editor tune it down or something? Great Pilot!
Laugh track has gotta go. The show is good besides that though.
The laugh track is TERRIBLE!!!!
The laugh track was the only annoying thing. Overal, the show has the potential to be a monster hit.
Well done!
Get rid of the laugh track. The writing stands on its own.

Great show. Funny!! Will continue to watch.
if you are going to do exterior shots at least do them in NY not LA.
You really cut corners
I agree… The laugh track has to go. I turned the channel because it was sooooo annoying. Come on guys, do you think we need a machine to tell us when to laugh? If the jokes and sketches are funny, as I’m sure they are, we will…. It’s a shame that I had to change the channel; I had been looking forward to this show for a while now…
Loose the laugh track, QUICKLY!!!!!!
Agree that laugh track gets anoying after 3 minutes. Yet great show...so far.
I can't watch your show with that awful laugh track. It sounds like a 60s show but worse.

to add show to myNBC.
